The rubber band that hit the first guy got every last centimeter of his sensitive bits. I mean perfectly lined up for maximum damage. Chefs kiss.
Combining bands with weights can be great on some exercises as it creates tension in parts of the movement where you’d have little tension with weights (eg top of the motion of bicep curls or dumbbell tricep extensions) but you always have to be careful with them :)
Just use the cable machines. You get constant tension throughout the movement.
Bands give you tension in the wrong part of the movement. The stretch part is where you want the most weight tension. Look up Dr. Mike Israitel

@@jriding6161 🤡 cable exercises also lose tension at some parts of the range of motion. For example, how is a cable curl with the pulley at the bottom different from free weights? The forces are the same
@@navidsgs1926 It's different because with free weights, you use more stabilizer muscles than with a cable machine. Cable curls focus more on the bicep as you don't have to be concerned with balancing free weights or barbells. That's why I always alternate between free weights and cables.

I'm 6'7" and because of the combined length of my torso and arms, have to do the same with pulldown machines as the guy at 2:22, although I do it so I can get a full extension when coming up, which he seems to be avoiding.

1:00 Even though its 100% ego lift its still impressive for a guy of that stature to unrack and do half rep with 405lbs. I guess he could do three plates with full range of motion and I bet he can't weight more than 150lbs. Its still more than twice his mass.
I don't think so, probably more like 2 plates to the parallel (not even talking about ATG).
This is quarter repping and it really doesn't take any particular leg/back strength, just getting used to the sheer pressure. There is a famous clip of a tall dude with literal toothpick for legs, all skin and bones, doing that kind of heavy partial squat for reps.
