It's a lot faster to weave towards where you're going to do the starting knot for the cross. If you do it the conventional way: starting knot > first cross (bottom-up) > pull the entire length of string across the mains (~13-14 ft). If you do it the way he's showing it, you're only working with maybe 2-ft of string. It cuts down on the time, and reduces string-burn.

I'm actually curious here, I like to pre-weave ahead by a LOT. Is that bad? I hear that it twists the string or something...
Can you do this from the start when weaving the cross string? You started on the 5th string, was there a reason for that?
