Minor Swing is a gypsy jazz tune composed by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. It was recorded by The Quintet of the Hot Club of France in 1937. It was recorded five other times throughout Reinhardt's career and is considered to be one of his signature compositions.[1]
The composition was first released as a 78 single by Swing in 1937 with Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli in the Quintette du Hot Club de France.
Fancier of this genre know that Joscho Stephan is exceptionally gifted in playing his interpretations of Django`s Songs. He played this particular version of Minor Swing before with the great Frank Vignola on the famous Eddie Lang Festival. At the summer concert Hannover Jazzclub Hannover by Gartenheim 2021 it was also one of a lot highlights.
Django & Steph would be so proud ! Well done chaps!
Joscho and friends spread art, beauty and joy all over the world till my small lonely home. They are my kings, my family
Joscho captures Django on this like no other and rockets it into another universe. It's not just the notes, it's also the feel. His technical ability keeps getting more and more mind boggling. But his feel, hard to fathom, is even starting to surpass that.
6:13 always cracks me up just Joscho's face of concentration and his mate watching the bassist XD Love it!
Excellent 🙏👏👏👏🎶❤️🎶
As many times as I’ve heard “MS” the arrangement was so good, it felt like my first time. Loved the horn and the naked solo of the bass.
WOW And Sven really rocked it out also! Outstanding gentlemen!!!
Love this quintet, the trumpet was a great addition.
There is only one thing on earth that would have made that jam better...If I had been sitting there enjoying it with you all. Thank you all and as always, Blessings~

Dommage que la contrebasse soit inaudible!

Can someone help identify the two melodies Joscho referenced towards the end? 😍
The first melody came from Mozart:

The second one is from a Song called: „Popcorn“

The second melody is “Besame Mucho,” a bolero.

The first guitarist solo was a pain to listen to
