It apparently unlocks "longer trains." I have been reading the community's opinions, and it seems the majority agree that it's "a blatantly obvious cash grab." That being said, it is much cheaper than DTG's DLC.
Reason - Thomas and Friends will generate some nice income. Forget any other reason given. Remember that DTG have a younger, more impressable customer base that is begging to be exploited. Think of TSW and TSC as the 'puppy mill' of the train sim scene.
As long as they fix steam physics and add the real life E2 I won’t mind this add on, that being said if it’s any more then £15 I’m going to be very piss off
I would love more steam routes. A GWR pannier tank and such aswell as an absolute beautiful neath-brecon line set in the 1929-1939 period, steep inclines busy freight services from collierys and passenger operations between two important towns of neath and brecon in south wales.
I can see the argument of it being an iconic train, and that if you don't want it don't buy it. However I have a few problems with this. One is the whole Season of Reveals and the general hype around it, that DLC didn't deserve that hype, a new route or even a good loco add on that can be used well of a new model (LNER 91, AWC 221), not Thomas. It just seems very niche, I can't imagine it would be used that often, seeing as it is only intended for the West Somerset Railway. What I have a gripe with is that TSW lacks content to be covered, so instead of doing an important route that would be popular, instead they decide to do this what I would think is a bit of a gimmicky DLC. I've seen people mention that this DLC will be to appeal to the younger audiences to get them into the TSW franchise. However, I just don't see that being the case. If I go by my example, whilst Thomas was important to me in my childhood, by age 6/7 I had sort of grown up from Thomas. At those ages, I doubt I would be able to drive a steam train on a complex simulator (I still struggle with Flying Scotsman age 17), and even that I doubt parents would pay out first for a computer/console powerful enough to support TSW, and with DTG's pricing, that parents would buy their kids both the West Somerset Railway and the Thomas pack. Certainly by the time I got interested in the Train Simulator franchise back in 2016ish time, I cared a lot more about the real trains running on real life lines, instead of a fake fictional talking train. I'm simply just confused on the target audience of this DLC.
I think Diesel is included simply because he's a Class 08 so only needs a reskin as opposed to having to create a brand new model. I wonder whether they'll be giving Thomas the E2 top speed of 35-40mph, or his TV canon top speed of around 80mph.
The problem with DTG is they have no competiton in the Train Sim scene, which means they can make whatever bad business decisions they want and people wil have to lap it up because it is the only thing we have. It is really sad, because this just allows them to do a bad job of everything and sugar coat it, and competition will definitely fix some of the issues, as competition in a scene or industry definitely drives quality and innovation.
I know we all have a right to have and say our opinion but can you please stop complaining? I get it, it’s unserious, it isn’t the norm for simulators but if we all keep complaining about it, they might just scrap the entire idea. The first tank engine we get is the most famous in the world, we’re going to throw that away because of realism? Can’t we enjoy the silliness of this? Just this once?
With all due respect, I think you're missing the point. As I said in the video, TSW is supposed to be a serious simulator, and introducing Thomas makes it hard to take the game seriously anymore. It'd be one thing if the model depicted one of the real 'Day Out With Thomas' engines, but it clearly doesn't; as such, it'll look out-of-place alongside the realistic locomotives.
@@DC4260Productions well Thomas was made with realism at first, just check the original books and find the little details that make the franchise so compeling to younger people
Them hyping him up as a gigantic reveal that EVERYONE was supposed to love is what i think is the dumbest part. Don't get me wrong, i LOVE the fact that he's in the game, but i'm well aware that i seem to be in the minority here. Like, why would you make the big reveal something only a small percentage of people are gonna be excited over?
would be funny and cool and another unrealistic thing to tsw5 wich i like stuff like that since i dont care if a realistic simulator ads something unrealistic i actually like that especialy if its Thomas the tanks engine
Thomas isn’t a niche steam engine he is on of if not the most famous. I believe that the DLC will draw in a whole new pool of customers. Although I do admit that it is a bit irritating to have requested something for years just to get sidelined for something “less serious”
Likely will be a dumbed down steam with simple controls for the children to play with. I don't think kids or parents would be wanting to struggle with DTG's idiotic broken existing steam implementation.
I agree with most of your points and really wish they did more with the vast world of Sodor’s famous engines, tho what there is so far fells more like they went home then going big.
There are two ways of doing things! “The Great Western Way” or “The Wrong Way” and the way I see it, DTG are doing things the wrong way like they have been for the past years or so. Having Thomas as being the “grand reveal” is such a poor choice and I think what would’ve been better is having a BR Standard Pack that could include steam locomotives like a J94 or a 9f! Speaking of the Great Western way, I’m looking forward to the GWE remaster as that route is in such need of an overhaul!
Instead of revealing Thomas and friends why couldn’t they just add three more routes to the game like uk do a swr like London Waterloo to Southampton and a german route like Munich idk about the us but I don’t get it like they could off said that they were going to create three more routes for uk Germany and America
@@potatoman451 yeah ik that but I can wait however long until it comes out if they did that loads of people would not be pissed off cuz of Thomas and friends I mean my opinion is they shouldn’t be adding it cuz they are supposed to make the game realistic not adding something that isn’t even a thing
To quote someones comment on the community post: "DTG will take the negative feedback of this addon as players not wanting any steam engines in the game ever." Would not be suprising if DTG actually did that.
I think if TSW had their own game for Thomas on the island of sodar etc it would've been cool but to have it as the grand reveal I honestly thought it was a joke as well but sadly not. But with it being a serious simulator we literally got mocked as a community from the developers themselves lol I honestly felt like Thomas was a bit much lol
Instead of working on getting more TOC’s into TSW and work on not loosing them, their licensing team would rather deal with Mattel for months and put hard work into getting the Thomas license for a simulator they can’t be serious. 🤦♂️😂
Sharing my thoughts. I like Thomas, not to the point where I really love it, I am fine with it or simply like it and I don’t hate it either. Having them in TSW I don’t mind but I won’t be buying it. Even if I do I will have it at the back burner and or it will be the last thing I will ever pick up for TSW. I am concern about its sales as you said, TSW is a more serious train simulator, but the scenarios, development decisions on multiple routes kinda said the opposite nowadays. And more so that I thought TSW is leaning in a more realistic way so to speak. Bringing in a fictional train kinda ruins it? But I don’t think it would affect my opinion on the game as a whole (it’s already bad as it is lol). I think the backlash apart from DTG not meeting the community’s expectations it’s more of just, some people may see Thomas as cringe. But that’s just my guess. And it would be nice if they fix and bring back steam trains again.
I Hoped For an american steam loco like 4014 but i don't think that will ever happen i have no hope left in tsw as if i had any to begin with instead of the 14xx or 57xx tank engines for WSR we have dovetail throwing their games realism away for good
I kicked TSW 5 off off my computer. And its not going to get back on until the developers at DTG are getting their act together. Although the chance to be struck by lightning or winning the lottery seem to be far more likely than the DTG team changing their way. Im not going to hold my breath over it anyway.
I would of personally preferred Swindon-Bristol in the 1950s with the Calne Branch, with a Pannier to go with it.....Duck, I think would say that DTG are doing things the Wrong Way.....
I don't hate Thomas. But, this isn't needed. There's already a plethora of fan made models for Trainz by creators like Sodor Workshops. But, this!?! Come on, Dovetail, this is a joke. And we're not laughing!!
I don´t understand how there are still a lot of people buying DTG´s products and giving them money for the absolutely awful job they do. With the original TSW beta I had a feeling they had the chance to create a simulator of a new generation, yet they just created a much more limited version of the original Train Simulator, its only real selling points being better (but already kinda dated) graphics and exploitation of the lack of competition. Sure, it´s enough for a casual train enjoyer who wants to honk a train, but there is not much going on in terms of simulation, it´s an arcade game attempting to look like a simulator. I haven´t bought anything from DTG in about 6 years and I could be wrong, but from what I´ve seen the only meaningful change is the livery designer, the number of questionable DLCs and steam locos with comically awful-looking steam. Not to mention their scummy practices, not fixing much of anything, no route editing. Basically everything is so low effort, and people enable them to keep at it. Derail Valley has managed hundred times more in less time, for less money and with less developers. Sorry for the rant.
I've never played Derail Valley in my life, but if what you've said about it is anything to go by, then it says a lot about DTG (or 'the silly sods from Chatham' as I call them).
@@DC4260Productions Now that´s a nickname I wouldn´t be able to come up with! You can give Derail Valley a try. It doesn´t have lifelike graphics, a huge map, real locations nor does it take itself too seriously, but it feels like much more than just driving. Setting switches, shunting, hauling, engines overheating, loosing traction, stalling uphill or cooking the brakes downhill, derailing (who would´ve guessed by the name), dynamic brakes, taking care of water/coal/steam with steam locos, damaging vehicles if used incorrectly, basic servicing of your vehicles, dynamic weather and daytime... Anyway, merry Christmas!
Absolutely dumbfounded by this DTG decision and, let's face there have been loads over the years. Me, I think this must come from Focus who took them over last year and it's all just lowest common denominator stuff for $$$. What next? Dumb down the graphics so it looks more like Sodor??!!
Was hoping that the extra steam loco would be something like a Jinty or J94. But it is what it is. Hopefully though it'll lead to more steam going forwards. Diesel makes sense though to have, its an easyish reskin of an existing loco.
For me it’s a skip, but they can try to sell whatever they want I guess. I don’t have my finger on the train sim market. Id think it will bomb. But who knows. Id think a couple of streamlined steam locomotives would sell better on TSW.
was hoping for a voyager for WCMLS, but of course even that was too much to ask for. this game is already losing it's identity as a serious simulator. hopefully this is the beginning of the end of whatever charade they're trying.
Honestly it’s absolutely pathetic that this was the grand reveal. Something like a free route would have been a much better solution, or even a bloody 90% off christmas discount.
Wait Train Sim World announced Thomas The Tank Engine Also included are Annie and Clarabel, Diesel and some Troublesome Trucks Other than "Thomas And The Evil/Devious Diesel" references, I am getting the series 12 Thomas & Diesel rivialy
After watching this, I think this is a really bad idea to add Thomas to Train Sim World 5. Why are they thinking adding the blue E2 to the serious train simulator and turn into a payware DLC? Not to mention, choosing Diesel as a second character in this game is pointless. We know, he is Devious, but come on, where is Percy, Edward or even James. I'm glad that Simrail (sorry to mention about it) didn't go that low, like Dovetail did, even tho SimRail went out from early access to full version and has some controversy like: the faulty tutorial of Ty2 (a polish kreigslok steam locomotive). Thomas was, is and will fit only in Trainz, because this is a different train simulator and our blue E2 is created by a passionate community for everyone and the important thing: They are doing for free. Thank you for bringing this topic. You're doing a great job. :) Greetings from a polish railway, city transport enthiusiat and a polish fan of Thomas the Tank Engine. :)
Bro if you don't like the DLC you don't have to purchase it, if everyone stops complaining about it then they might add other characters from the show get over it.
I am well aware of the fact that I don't have to buy the DLC, but that does not make it immune to constructive criticism. Many people (not just myself) feel this is a step backwards for the game, and we have valid reasons for our opinions.
I keep requesting Rivet Games to make the Isle Of Wight Island Line (Ryde Rail) in the 1970s with No Smallbrook Junction, Lake but have the Ryde Pier Shuttle in place and have the Standard Stock 3-car/4-car formantion and I will only buy TSW5 if they make it.
Finding reference material to the actual route and reference and sound for the stock is probably really really hard. Can't record something that doesn't exist
If they wanted to add Thomas they could’ve added the nene valley railway to ecml Peterborough to Doncaster. This heritage railway has a Thomas the tank engine and it was name by Rev W Awdry himself but nope Dovetail is lazy as always
I was laughing my head off about how ridiculous this was when I saw this was coming to the game. I don't think DTG should be getting as cheesy as this.
I'm actually shocked one of my comments actually turned into a legit video. Anyways nice video as always I agree with every point said, this Thomas Collab is at the moment extremely overhyped..
LOL I don't keep up with anything DTG anymore apart from your channel so this gave me quite a laugh. Kind of shocking the rights holders to Thomas would ever want to partner up with the clowns at DTG for this. Then again it's an easy cash grab for the clown corporation. They won't gain broad appeal from adults due to their poor reputation in simulator circles and just putting out crap effort to sucker in a broader gaming audience. So what's left? Go after the kids and have their parents to dump money on them. This from the company that refused to make any fantasy routes or anything without a licence go ahead and make up some fantasy (albeit with a licence). What are the kids going to think when they can't get Thomas to run as it will be the usual bug riddled mess that DTG puts out? Oh well, sorry kids.. got your parents' money! Bye bye suckers!
Who ever had the idea that Mattel of all companies can have the blue E2 in TSW5. It’s probably gonna be a flop in reality but successful in the imaginary world. Thomas and TSW don’t mix
Well, can always hope the PDL will make it into TSW one day. But yeah this calendar was crap. especially this Thomas. This is not what we meant by wanting more steam trains! Dovetail are so hopeless. And here i was thinking TSW5 is supposed to be the best train sim out there, now im starting to think TSC might be more worth what you have to pay for.
Most people on the forums and discord are not happy about this. I have zero intention of buying this. Most people did not want this. This would've been better suited to TSW Tycoon which is their Roblox game
If you think it's so trivial, then why were you motivated to make a comment? I think you're missing the points made by me and others in this comments section. We're not just complaining for the sake of it. We have valid reasons for being annoyed at DTG's announcement.
@DC4260Productions+ I don't really care. Dovetail barely updates their maps and locations, other than include new locomotives. The graphics are the same, the sets are the same, the DLC are the same. Same game, with five entries.
Wot, no Island of Sodor mainline route to drive on? It will get boring very quickly. Fingers crossed it doesn't sell well and DTG drops any thoughts of creating any further Thomas and friends content.
@@StrikeEagle78 you realize that 3-7 year olds are smarter than you think right? Just because someone is young doesn't mean they are dumb. Just because someone is older doesn't mean they are smart
Thay should have done dcdr with a 450 class a stam engine And a 80 class probably 69 so thay can at least re ues the mk2 and just make a cad on it and a 80 class power car So the lazy devs can actually re use something The 450 is vary similarly to a br 150 bit know the devs thay will not do dcdr as thay are to lazy or think that thay can't get the permission to ues the nir logo for 8090 or the plans NIR don't care what you do I have made plenty of ther trains and still no law suet
That's because you make it for free buddy and tocs couldn't care less about it. If dtg sold it as a commercial product with no permission or license, they will get sued
Even I was like who ripped mainland's trainz thomas model into TSW5, Really I'm sure that DTG will turn TSW into a roller coaster which suits Trainz more , As much as I admit Thomas was the one why I'm watching train videos , I am seriously disappointed by DTG's Absurdly Stupid ideas
I agree with you, i dont really like that they are adding thomas, because i think that it does not make Train Sim World appear as a serious simulator. I would have loved to see a nordic, russian or australian route, or a london underground line. I would really love to see the SJ Class Rc6, but it probably will never happen.
Ah those little kiddies will be soooo happy. I think I hear the money trading hands already. $$$ DTG DTG $$$ How lovely. They really do just keep getting worse and worse. Gee, sorry DTG fan clubbers, losers.
The problem is that, if Thomas is successful, they will make even more stuff for Thomas and the things that most people want will get pushed even further back.
I don't have a problem with Thomas himself being added (good to have younger people getting into trains and a good bit of fun for anyone else who wants it), but I feel that adding him as a gameplay pack for the WSR is half-arsing it. "Thomas had never seen such Bullshit before."
Although on the plus side, let's all be thankful it wasn't that abomination that is reboot Thomas.
Dovetail is basically the Great Depression
The only major reason I think for Thomas being added would be due to Mattel pushing it for the Thomas 80th anniversary

On the bright side we now have the E2 class tank engine in the game
Thomas wasn't even the first character Awdry wrote about
As long as they fix steam physics and add the real life E2 I won’t mind this add on, that being said if it’s any more then £15 I’m going to be very piss off
Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if the add-on is really expensive, since - for all I know - it could be to cover licensing fees.
I'm simply just confused on the target audience of this DLC.
why cant we have the tyne and wear metro, with both old and new trains
It wont be long before they get a lego train set in here so we can build our own routes and trains
@@DC4260Productions well Thomas was made with realism at first, just check the original books and find the little details that make the franchise so compeling to younger people
No we can't enjoy silliness, because rail fans must always be serious and no fun allowed. This is why we get called autistic so much.
I don’t mind, personally because it’s MY favourite cartoon ever
Them hyping him up as a gigantic reveal that EVERYONE was supposed to love is what i think is the dumbest part. Don't get me wrong, i LOVE the fact that he's in the game, but i'm well aware that i seem to be in the minority here. Like, why would you make the big reveal something only a small percentage of people are gonna be excited over?
Next DLC is chuggington 😂
would be funny and cool and another unrealistic thing to tsw5 wich i like stuff like that since i dont care if a realistic simulator ads something unrealistic i actually like that especialy if its Thomas the tanks engine
if you say tsw should be a serious simulator then what about the The Holiday Express - Runaway Elf route where you drive on a model layout
Nobody liked nor bought that expansion. I think it’s literally the worst selling TSW expansion because no one asked for it.
Thomas isn’t a niche steam engine he is on of if not the most famous. I believe that the DLC will draw in a whole new pool of customers. Although I do admit that it is a bit irritating to have requested something for years just to get sidelined for something “less serious”
I thought dovetail had given up on steam?
They can still use the existing simulation
Likely will be a dumbed down steam with simple controls for the children to play with. I don't think kids or parents would be wanting to struggle with DTG's idiotic broken existing steam implementation.
We could use Thomas as a dummy unit
This is Christmas Dovetail give us stuff we want,
AND we have to hope that in livery designer you can remove the face
I agree with most of your points and really wish they did more with the vast world of Sodor’s famous engines, tho what there is so far fells more like they went home then going big.
I have been expecting some Western region tank engines for the WSR for years.
Because they're already making many dlc buddy. They can't just create a dlc in a week
@@potatoman451 yeah ik that but I can wait however long until it comes out if they did that loads of people would not be pissed off cuz of Thomas and friends I mean my opinion is they shouldn’t be adding it cuz they are supposed to make the game realistic not adding something that isn’t even a thing
To quote someones comment on the community post:
"DTG will take the negative feedback of this addon as players not wanting any steam engines in the game ever."
Would not be suprising if DTG actually did that.
To me at least, the devs come across as being very out-of-touch with what the players actually want.
TSW isn't a serious simulator though. It's just a mediocre bordering on crap video game.
Instead of working on getting more TOC’s into TSW and work on not loosing them, their licensing team would rather deal with Mattel for months and put hard work into getting the Thomas license for a simulator they can’t be serious. 🤦♂️😂
They do work on getting more tocs but some of them are stubborn.
Mattel might have approached dtg first. Have you thought about that?
@@potatoman451I seriously doubt any company would approach DTG with a 10 foot pole.
@@StrikeEagle78 there are many that have approached dtg
Im sure there will be Percy or James or other characters later
I Hoped For an american steam loco like 4014 but i don't think that will ever happen i have no hope left in tsw as if i had any to begin with instead of the 14xx or 57xx tank engines for WSR we have dovetail throwing their games realism away for good
That won't ever happen under the current simulation. Would you be happy if it didn't work properly because they aren't able to upgrade the simulation?
@@potatoman451 I Know it probably won't ever happen but a guy can hope i just thought a big boy would make american freight routes more fun
I kicked TSW 5 off off my computer.
And its not going to get back on until the developers at DTG are getting their act together.
Although the chance to be struck by lightning or winning the lottery seem to be far more likely than the DTG team changing their way.
Im not going to hold my breath over it anyway.
So much for no more steam locomotive development
I think duck would've worked more as he's a GWR pannier tank and with the WSR being a GWR line it would've fitted more in my opinion
Thomas is more popular and marketable. That's why we get Thomas.
I would of personally preferred Swindon-Bristol in the 1950s with the Calne Branch, with a Pannier to go with it.....Duck, I think would say that DTG are doing things the Wrong Way.....
Its seriously not that bad, considering its for the west Somerset its probably gonna be 5-10 quid
They should have made it a dummy Thomas to represent the Day Out With Thomas events. And it should be free!
2:06 i have
I don't hate Thomas. But, this isn't needed. There's already a plethora of fan made models for Trainz by creators like Sodor Workshops. But, this!?! Come on, Dovetail, this is a joke. And we're not laughing!!
I really though it was a joke the day of reveal
@@flox1514 It's a very unfunny joke and move by DTG. A real slap in the face.
Iv been waiting for this rant haha all the lead up to that
Excellent music selections too. DTG $$$
It would be OK to add Thomas if it was based on a real Thomas replica
I was actually hyped for Thomas being in it
Thomas is famous lol
Honestly it’s absolutely pathetic that this was the grand reveal. Something like a free route would have been a much better solution, or even a bloody 90% off christmas discount.
A new route yes. I though it would have been a new route in a new country.
Shermann hill is free on steam.
Both the free route (Sherman Hill) and a 90% off route (LGV Mediterranee) we got in the Steam and Epic Games winter sales
Wait
Train Sim World announced Thomas The Tank Engine
Also included are Annie and Clarabel, Diesel and some Troublesome Trucks
Other than "Thomas And The Evil/Devious Diesel" references, I am getting the series 12 Thomas & Diesel rivialy
Greetings from a polish railway, city transport enthiusiat and a polish fan of Thomas the Tank Engine.
The usual comment we have heard a million times.... typical dovetail bot.
Like hell they will....sadly.... :/
And where are they getting said sounds from?
Finding reference material to the actual route and reference and sound for the stock is probably really really hard. Can't record something that doesn't exist
If they wanted to add Thomas they could’ve added the nene valley railway to ecml Peterborough to Doncaster. This heritage railway has a Thomas the tank engine and it was name by Rev W Awdry himself but nope Dovetail is lazy as always
I was laughing my head off about how ridiculous this was when I saw this was coming to the game. I don't think DTG should be getting as cheesy as this.
If they really wanted to make a Thomas engine. Than they also should make the island of Sodor. But than I still think its not a good idea.
1 dlc out of a hundred at the end of the day
@@potatoman451 still could be a lot better, what a rubbish grand reveal.
Most people on the forums and discord are not happy about this. I have zero intention of buying this. Most people did not want this. This would've been better suited to TSW Tycoon which is their Roblox game
Exactly
As with all DLC u don't have to buy it so yeah move on , I was disappointed but hey it's dtg disappointed is there middle name.
Thomas have never seen such bulls**t before.
With all the interesting and cool trains in the world and they come and put this in, dovetail is becoming more and more of a big joke.
Like I said, TSW (and, by extension, DTG as a whole) is becoming a bigger joke than the Disco Duck song of 1976.
FFS, its just a virtual game.
No need to get upset over it.
They need to bring Australia and New Zealand to the game, it’s ridiculous they went for this as their next add on 🙄.
They aren't interested in being in tsw. No license=can't do
Wot, no Island of Sodor mainline route to drive on? It will get boring very quickly. Fingers crossed it doesn't sell well and DTG drops any thoughts of creating any further Thomas and friends content.
I said it once and Ill say it again
Who is this targetted to? Like what even is the target demographic
3 to 7 year old children and the DTG die hard apologists (who also share the cranial capacity of 3 to 7 year old children).
@@StrikeEagle78 you realize that 3-7 year olds are smarter than you think right? Just because someone is young doesn't mean they are dumb. Just because someone is older doesn't mean they are smart
Thay should have done dcdr with a 450 class a stam engine
And a 80 class probably 69 so thay can at least re ues the mk2 and just make a cad on it and a 80 class power car
So the lazy devs can actually re use something
The 450 is vary similarly to a br 150 bit know the devs thay will not do dcdr as thay are to lazy or think that thay can't get the permission to ues the nir logo for 8090 or the plans
NIR don't care what you do I have made plenty of ther trains and still no law suet
It was a very poor ‘reveal’ with no real new reveals and dont get me started on Thomas! That really has no place in TSW whatsoever!
polir express wluldve been better honestly
because thomas wanted to collaborate with them duh, just get over it
I agree with you, i dont really like that they are adding thomas, because i think that it does not make Train Sim World appear as a serious simulator.
I would have loved to see a nordic, russian or australian route, or a london underground line. I would really love to see the SJ Class Rc6, but it probably will never happen.
Money talks and Mattel willing to pay for it or get pay.
Cuz Thomas is the best :D
Well Thomas is a bit of an odd addition to a legit train simulation game.
Oh great now everyone's awful thomas OC e2 will be in tsw. Just lovely.
I play simrail now.
Ah those little kiddies will be soooo happy. I think I hear the money trading hands already. $$$ DTG DTG $$$ How lovely. They really do just keep getting worse and worse. Gee, sorry DTG fan clubbers, losers.
I see this officially killing steam which tragic
The problem is that, if Thomas is successful, they will make even more stuff for Thomas and the things that most people want will get pushed even further back.
