This video should help you understand what do when you find puddles on your trail. It will also help determine when you need to deberm, dig a drain, or add a knick to your trail.

Flow is an important part of mountain bike trails but we only want that to apply to bikes traveling along the trail and not the rainwater. Clearing leaf litter where water wants to go will help the trail dry faster and keep it from washing out the trail.
