    I've had a 2017 aygo for nearly 4 years and I literally havent spent a penny on it beyond service, MOT and normal maintenance. New tyres is the only thing I've spent thus far that I can think of. I also drive around 200 miles a week so it gets well driven. Perfectly fine if you have reasonable expectations, yes it's noisy on motorways but for absolutely everything else its perfect. Surprisingly nippy and fun to drive too, especially round country roads which is what i mainly do.

      That's a solid mini review of this car. Agree! Mine hasn't cost me anything other than perishable items, too.

    I have one. It's very noisy at high speed (+70kmh). However, it's very easy to drive and park. Seats are not comfortable but it's good enough for short travels.

      Very succinct review, ha! The road noise is part of the reason why I decided to sound proof mine and it does really help with that. I ended up picking up a seat cushion with lumbar support for longer journeys as you are spot on when saying the seats are not comfortable for longer journeys.

    Agree buying and running the Aygo is very cheap. But the gear box may be hard to master for a new driver.

      Good observation! I think the flip side would be that if you can manage the clutch/gearbox on this, you'll find anything else a walk in the a park.

    Just wanted to say thank you for the great video! My first car (in 2018) was the 2008 Aygo, but just bought a nice 2019 as my second car. As a first car, the Aygo was great, but rust from standing in wet Wales for a few years was my downfall so needed an upgrade. Couldn’t let the Aygo’s go though! Your videos are really helping me figure out the differences between the two. I’ll miss the CD player, and my current phone spot (right of the steering wheel I have a lovely cubby which doesn’t exist on the newer versions), but overall a great upgrade. Will be thinking about upgrading to the Apple Car Play for sure, thanks to your very informative video. Anyway, that was probably completely useless information to you, just wanted to say thanks for the videos, I really appreciated it when trying to decide wether to upgrade or repair my 2008.

      Love comments like these, so thank you! I've never owned a MK1, so it is definitely something I'll be looking into in the future, even if it is as a project car/second car. With you picking up a 2019 version, that will have those lovely rear lights, which I really like and will at some point install on my 2014 version! Let us know how you get on with the Apple CarPlay upgrade!

    They should consider something else: a 2007 - 2012 Aygo/C1/107 is a much better purchase for someone that young as they can be picked up for 500 pounds and run just as reliably as the MK2. It won't bankrupt you either, repair is so incredibly cheap and even if it ends up getting expensive you realizie you've only spent 500 quid.

    • @jamieaygo
      @jamieaygo  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, I mentioned that as an alternative, which as you say is as reliable as the newer stuff. I agree that it is probably more realistic for new drivers, although it may be worth stretching for a MK2 as it's a bit more modern and they are quite well specced for what they are. I remember my first car (Peugeot 306, OG model) and it was like a tank to drive 😂

    I'm a new driver and my first car is a 2014/2015 aygo. When I was looking up pros and cons about it before purchasing it, alot of people talked about the high bite point. But for me, the bite point wasn't the problem, it was the throttle control. Just because there was just so much dead space before the pedal recognised I was giving it gas. And because its such a small engine, you're almost certain to stall it with no gas. I've owned mine for just over a month and I'm still getting used to it. Don't know if its a car problem or just because I have no idea how to drive 😂

    • @jamieaygo
      @jamieaygo  2 месяца назад +1

      Definitely a quirk of the car! it's not you, don't worry. The trick I've found with the Aygo is that it always needs gas. Some cars move on their own when you just lift up the clutch but the Aygo isn't one of them. You'll need to feather the gas pedal (that's what I like to do anyway) just to wake the Aygo up a bit. You'll get the hang of it 👍

    I also had a Audi A3 until someone drove into the back of me and written it off. So decided to get a small run around as I do less than 20 miles a day. I settled on a little Kia Picanto, cheaper insurance, road tax only £20 compared to £255. And better mpg. It's easy to park and because I do basically city driving it's just what I need. Love your videos by the way, they're very informative 👍🏻

      @jamieaygo  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for the kind words! Much appreciated. Love the Picantos, too! The GT models are really well specced. Probably the most well-specced small car on the market.

    How did an Audi cost that much to service?

    • @jamieaygo
      @jamieaygo  7 месяцев назад

      It wasn't the service cost, it was general maintenance. In essence, I must have bought a bit of a lemon as it had sensors break all the time. I replaced the ABS sensor and multiple other sensors in a short period of time, then two out of four window regulators snapped in the period of about a month. The other two needed new motors shortly afterwards. It needed new brake discs and pads, etc. I probably should have given up on it earlier 😂 It was in for a penny, in for a pound....

      @@jamieaygo that's fair enough 👍🏼 I personally find tools cheaper than mechanics 🧰 so I buy and fix my cars by myself. You would be absolutely shocked at how much you can save if you do it all on your driveway. As long as you follow safety standards you'll be fine (meaning don't balance a 2 tonne car on a single jack with no axle stands and if you're grinding away at things wear eye and breathing protection. The basics really)
      There are tutorials to guide you through almost every repair

      Yeah, I've started to learn little bits and bobs as I can see that there is a good amount of money to be saved and it's also a great deal of fun too, well.....most of the time 🤣

    so if I buy the 14-17 model, 0 road tax on it for as long as I own/drive it?

    • @jamieaygo
      @jamieaygo  4 месяца назад

      You'd need to keep an eye on tax rules but as they currently stand, I have paid zero tax for two years and if the rules don't change, looks like it will stay that way.
