I can't get it to increase the number of sides, can you elaborate how to do that?

As you are holidng the mouse click before you release tap the arrow keys on your keyboard (left, right, up, down) and you'll see it change.

I just coldn't get the sides to increase or de crease the amount. Mine stayed within the bounding box and nothing happened....

Did you hold the mouse down while you did it? Make sure you try it with the star or triangle.

@@JeremyMuradesign I saw another tutorial which said that the process was done at the same time the shape was dragged onto the artboard....that worked, you didn't say that...
