Yeah man this song is exactly the same way how I feel now with the loss of my grandpa and the way that my family is falling apart. Because ever since the day that I lost my grandpa a couple of years ago. My aunts and cousins where never the same after that. My dad lost in touch with my aunts. Everything just went downhill so quickly after that. So yeah I know what you mean.

When I first heard this was like winning into the next level of life and the skills to fk anything up that tried to hurt me like that ever again. We can't help who we're born to but they can be good and not hurt you intentionally. My favorite of any band or genre w a 24kt gold trophy ofbits own in my heart.

This song hits home hard my mom ran off on dope dad was a very abusive drunk and drug attic and lived under a bridge and took baths in a creek even when it was fuckin freezing outside from 6 to 8 years old then was on and off the streets from then till I turned 16 and was able to work full time thank the Gods I am able to give my kids the life I never had

Now I’m looking back at this seeing how far I’ve come motivates me to go further. If you’re struggling or in a dark place I promise you things will get better.

Imagine a giant beast Ivan ripped and psychodelic colored out raging through a city of our fathers design and build destroying that mthfkr swing by swing and screaming this to the top of his lungs. Like a ffdp Godzilla pissed off and not ever letting fkn go. Instead brings to it what was forced on him when he couldn't do shit about it. It molded this bad ass fkn Tune and I wish I could listen to it as loud as I want to but idk where that would even be possible. I won tickets on the radio to see them at the Fire Club in Jackson MS back in 2010 but the Saturday night it was happening was the last Saturday before I shipped off to Basic training at fort Jackson SC and I chose to spend it w my girls bc they live w their mom and I knew I wouldn't see them for however long and gave the tickets away. What made me sick was learning they were VIP tickets and not only did these two guys get to meet the band they ate dinner w and got everything signed they brought and just chilled w them an hour before showtime. Fuck. That would've changed my life but I still made the right decision. Now neither dude that went do I hang w nor have my girls came down in months bc they're full blown teenage girls w attitudes worse than Ivan's bad days so - Fuck - u know - I'm going to see them one day but it'll never be like that I'm sure. Rock on and bring love and beast mode skillz everywhere u go in life

one of the best 5FDP songs ever, the first 2 albums were the best, then they went constantly downhill. believe me, i did put enough time in listening and comparing everything they have done to say something like that. the production was overdone more and more after every new album, the songs are bland most of the times and the fact that they added this bro-ish groove vibe combined with something that sounds like rap (sham pain for example) makes me wonder how i could ever have considered them as my favorite band. the mainstream loves them now, but the mainstream loves taylor swift aswell. i can't exactly explain why they are not as good as they used to be anymore, but if you have been here since album 1 you probably also noticed a loss of their 'magic'. the devils own is the perfect embodiment of raw production, lyrics and vocals that make you feel the emotion and just the perfect instrumentation for their style.
happens most metal bands as they start to become more successful. the tracks become more polished and the production much tighter and also they start trying to experiment more, partly to appeal to the masses and partly to try and not become stale.
it normally results in a loss of the raw unpolished aggression that made them gereat in the first place.
metallica who were my favourite band growing up in the 80s were another perfect example. by the time they released the black album they had cast off everything that got me into them in the first place from the first album in favour of appealing to a bigger audience. what can you do?
Everything including the Double EP of Wrong Side of Heaven was super sick though. Even Got your six has a few good moments but the last 2... 3 now? Albums? Pop music and worse rehash combined.
I considered myself a huge day 1 fan, all the way back when this record was released and I heard White Knuckles in a Video of some guys doing Stunts on their Motorcycles, the first Band where I bought every Album (up to Got Your Six which I was mildly disappointed by) and went to concert 5 times, caught at least 1 Pick every time too, have a Flag with all Band Members Autographs, even got to hug Ivan.
It's sad to see it's all Champagne more than Sham Pain now, meanwhile Trivium just released their best Album since The Crusade / Shogun days and Bullet For My Valentine at least stayed somewhat consistent without selling out. I mentioned them because they where my fav's before I knew FFDP.
Filling the prisons has done way more harm than good. In America land of the free we have more people in prison than anyone. No one has ever been able to make it to the top of the stairs/Bank without getting busted, why Police are running it.
I mean they're In prison for a reason...
Maybe people should stop committing crimes then 🤷♂️
