"Everything you always wanted in a beer. And less." I was 13 years too young to legally drink beer in 1979, but I remember that Miller Lite slogan very well.
Luv these commericals & the bits of pieces from the shows of the day! I remember many of them as I was a teenager during this time. It's amazing how many actors in the commercials I recognize as having appeared on a lot of TV shows in the 70s. I don't know their names but I recognize their faces.
The 2:00 lite ad was pretty slick.. Dude sunk ten balls, gave his spiel, kept in tempo(didn't speed up,slowdown or alter his timing) hit the mark on the no- look pick up of his glass, barely missing the ball, with none of the background yuks screwing it up on what was the I'm sure at least the 10th take
Yep, I'm pretty sure the Jeep spokesman is Jackson Beck, the one who did the GI Joe intros. Can't find anything on IMDB about commercial work but then they rarely add that info. That's Charles Kimbrough at 3:52 in the Levis Panatella commercial. He's best known for playing anchorman "Jim Dial" on the late 80's-90's series "Murphy Brown."
So many of these ads came from Manhattan agencies. You could always hear it in the writing, even the accents. So pleasant having the TV on in the background, then.
7:29 - "Hello, I'm David Hartman - tomorrow, the Son and Daughter of academy award winner John Voigt - what were they thinking? On Good Morning America." ;)
It's funny how good TV shows were back then !! With so many networks today, you'd think the quality would have improved over the years !! However , back then , the 3 networks could pick and choose the people who worked on their shows . They could choose the best of the best !!
In the Nikon commercial as he said he used one years ago in space. Now we can say, years ago we used to have Astronauts. Poor kids today that has to be eliminated from their dream plan.
Pepsi needs to bring back their old logo and start airing commercials like these again. Its funny how Pepsi changed their logo and started airing commercials against Coca-Cola and then they fell to # 3 and got beat out by Diet Coke.
What sold Battle of the Network Stars, I believe, was the swimming competition and the chance to see what happened when shapely braless female bodies clad in Speedos entered cold water and then stood around air-drying...rather nipply that day, to say the least...
@gli7utubeo Also you might remember "Circus of the Stars" too, but these differ from Survivor and other reality tripe in being TV specials, not weekly series. BotNS was a twice a year event and CoTS was usually once a year so we weren't inundated with "reality" mess like we are today. That's what made them special, not in your face once or 7 times a week like shows of today.
"...they exited out of Formula One... they exited out of the IRL... they exited out of CART... they exited out of the World of Outlaws... and there's a reason for that 'cause Goodyear can't build a tire that's worth a crap..."

I absolutely LOVED Battle of the Network Stars. I don't think they could ever bring it back in its true 70's glory! Battle...FTW!
man these commercials before my time were so tame for the most part. simpler times indeed

WOW, enough car ads during this?
AMF also owned Harley-Davidson from 1969 to 1981!
Awesome ad with the great 70s Steelers!
Eight is Enough, to fiiiiil ouuur liiiives wiiiiith looooooooooooove
"A can of Simoniz."
2 Hours of Eight Is Enough???? I remember being bored to tears after ten minutes of it.
zzzombie888 😂😂😴😪
Love the old Steeler Tire Spot! Franco, L.C. and Furness!
I used to go to AMF bowling back in my 18th birthday!
It was back in the year 2012.
Opening video immediately reminds me of meatballs. I half expected them to all ask me if i was ready for the summer.
AMF does sporting equipment? All we have in Australia are bowling alleys! Fascinating!
That logo definitely evokes bowling alleys, but I do remember the Head rackets and such. But I'm old.

Analog heaven!!!
they are really pushing that Nikon haha
Ha! Eight years before I was born!!
"Panatella" sounds like an Italian food dish

R.I.P Steve Mizerak :(
@5:34 Franco Harris he just passed away last week. RIP.
In the Nikon commercial as he said he used one years ago in space. Now we can say, years ago we used to have Astronauts. Poor kids today that has to be eliminated from their dream plan.
@traceymallard of course there is. You can find them in the gold pepsi cans

gcrebel2008 PEPSI needs to improve!!! Regular PEPSI is too sugary compared to Coca-Cola & Diet Pepsi has a bland flavor compared to Diet Coke!!!
I really liked it when they revived the classic Pepsi logo a few years back. Haven't seen it for a while, but I see Royal Crown is doing that now.

It looks like reality tv started long before Survivor...
Most have forgotten "Battle Of The Network Stars."

At 7:30 he's talking about interviewing Angelina Jolie's grandmother.
The Miz, the Master
That kinda looks like Robert Townsend in the Pepsi commercial, but not sure...
is there a such thing as caffeine free Pepsi? im allergic to caffeine but i still love pepsi..
Back when Jeep was owned by American Motors.
Do not like the sound that camera makes Did they just dis Mr. Roger Dangerfield?
wow they dont have bettle of the network stars anymore! i wish they did instead of this new show called Wipeout!
COPs also predates the Survivor format by 3+ years
Arkham Trailer Park 3 years... more like 10 years.
If that's Amelia Earhart somewhere along the way she had some plastic surgery tweaks done. For the better!
@JLin576 Almost certainly the same guy.
