People need to understand the movie attempted to convey their story in a little over a 2 hr film. That's difficult to do and the writing needed to convey meaningful moments and tie them all together. Of course they can't depict every momment exactly as it happened for this reason. But, what matters is the overall spirit and message conveyed that tied everything together .
