FUN STORY ALERT: I had the opportunity to shoot footage of the greatest rapper of all-time Vanilla Ice at a lowrider show that he was competing in with one of his cars. This is (as far as I know) the biggest lowrider show in the US.
Growing up in the golden age of rap, I knew that it would be dumb NOT to shoot a music video with all of those lowriders and the greatest rapper of all time in one place.
Thinking there was no chance of this happening, I texted Rob (Ice) a few days before the show and said we should shoot a music video while we are there. Surprisingly he said "okay." I still thought the chances of it happening were small. However, to my surprise, when I arrived Rob said he found a song on an old cassette from the early 90's that he never released.
When we shot the video (the part were Rob was rapping to camera) the whole thing took about 15 minutes. I had never heard the song until we started shooting, we told the people that were around Rob trying to get his autograph "hey, we're going to shoot a music video," and we did it. It was also cool that rappers "The Greatness" & "Forgiato Blow" happened to be there and are in the video. We did 3 takes in slightly different locations which were all used video. Oh, and spoiler alert. Rob's car got first place in the show.
Life lessons learned: sometimes you can catch lightening in a bottle and YES you should meet your heroes!
That's cool. I was just going to say this is disappointing, because I love Vanilla, but would love him even more if je could write something completely new. Knowing this is an old unreleased track kinda changes my feeling about it. I love how old school it is with 90s hook and everything, would love to see it attached to new album.

@@Anonsy_ he's definitely not the greatest lol biggest issue is recycled rhymes, second biggest issue is that it's all mid including "Ice Ice Baby" but I love to see his perseverance, and can never stop routing for the guy. Personally my favorite album of his is Mind Blowing, but every project has gems. My second favorite era of his is W.T.F (2011) through the non commercial singles he's put out since Fogotio Blows Vanilla Sprite remix, then his early works, and lastly I do love a portion of his NuMetal music and thought he did the Raprock thing better than most. I'm not sure how familiar you are with his body of work or his personal story, but I assure there are many songs that almost reach the level of Ice Ice Baby in his repertoire.
Say what you want. The man lived through a rough era and started a legacy for white rappers. He still standing.

Plenty of REAL white rappers. House Of Pain (Everlast - who actually tore Em a new a-hole in their beef) did it on a larger level to go along with real credibility. Then there are so many that kept it more underground and not on a POP tip.
