Neat technique Stewart. Some fun making this I see, and play did make a great result! Take care my friend. Have a great week creating and playing😁😁 Cheers Harold
Stewart, love your work. You are so artistic with the platters and bowls you make. All of the other channels seem to focus on turning a bowl (with or without resin). Firstly, it is hard to find good bowl turning wood, so many hobbyists are focusing on resin/rotten wood turning. Yes, the bowls look amazing but the cost of resin is high and experimenting is too costly Channel are sponsored so resin companies provide free or cheap resin. You instead help viewers with turning a platter but using colored ink or paint which is very artistic. You teach different techniques for adding and removing paint. I always say to myself early in the video, "what the heck is Stewart doing?", only to see at the end; another masterpiece! And if you don't like it, simply scrape it down and try a different technique... Thanks Stewart!!!
Thanks, Rob - I'm glad you enjoy my videos and my approach to things, especially if I don't like the end result! I hope you've had a change to try out some of the techniques. Happy turning!
I like the geometry of it. A construction based on simple shapes (lines) combined to create a pattern is a tried and true method. Using different widths of tape could make an interesting variation.
Hi Stewart, Really, really like this one. Shows your accuracy in using the airbrush off brillianlty. Once I've actually used mine and know what I'm doing might well give it a go. I really like the Autumnal platter as well. Take care Stewart and once again Thanks for yesterdays demo. Cheers, Huw
very nice effect stewart. i like the way it looks like there is a stack and your looking down into the middle of it. not keep on how the middle cut into the blue stip . narrower tape and bending ther tape could give some cool designs
Cheers, Alan! I wondered when someone would comment on the cut into blue ribbon...I don't like it either! Narrower and curving tape is definitely on the list of variations to try!
I love that one, Stewart. I thought the background was fine, though maybe just solid blace would make the lines more striking. I'm new to the coloring part of woodturning and am in love with it all. I can't wait to see how you improve on this. By the way, granddarling #3 arrived Monday for us and "Grammy" is currently over there offering support. This, of course, leaves me unsupervised. Lots of paint and tools arriving soon!
Hi Stewart, very nice, and in my opinion an improvement on the previous versions. The colour scheme is reminiscent of some other piece of art that I have seen but cannot remember where or when. The one you did for your club demo, which you claim is autumnal actually reminded me of pavements after seagulls have visited a curry house, so sorry mate not one of your finer works.😀
Do we need to get you more wood so you do not have to turn away a perfectly good design just to try something else? Good experiment, hope you keep playing with the concept until you are satisfied. I expect this one to disappear too. I like the “Autumn Leaves”, hope it lives on.
Turned out brilliant Mr Stewart! It has a 3D depth to it, magic! 😃
Many thanks, WeeVal - glad you like it!
Beautiful Work Stewart, i like it a lot . I like the Background, the dark let the Colours stand out
I'm glad you like it, Christine!
Spot on with this one , lovely.
Thank you! Glad you like it. Cheers!

Looks like it worked well, Stewart. The only problem for me is that I really liked it before you started. I know you can't keep everything.
Bill
Thanks, Bill....glad you liked both designs!
I'd forgotten about your other stripy experiments. I'll have to go back and have another look. The autumnal bowl looks a bit marmite 😉
Cheers, Simon.....I know what you mean about the autumn one!
Nice one Stewart, the layers of tape give the final design depth. Don’t be too hard on yourself, I thought it looked good. Chestnut spirit stains?
Cheers, Larry! Yep, Chestnut Spirit Stains....

Haha...cheers, Roger....I can't unsee seagull turd and vomit now.....thanks for keeping my feet on the ground!

Cheers, Valerie....put a wood order in today! The Autumn bowl...well....we'll have to wait and see.....
