    using Aeroplan to fly. if you spend 75k aeroplan point to HND, you can add an extra 5k point to add a stopover to Bangkok, Korea, Singapore, etc :] only for 5k more points

    These are two trips I make every year.
    OMA>GDL & OMA>CUN 🇲🇽
    and have always flown economy but would like to fly business. I’ve got the VentureX with 142k miles sitting. I could probably just book thru the portal but points are 1:1. To get business with points more than 1:1 I would have to do ORD>CUN which would require an extra ticket from OMA>ORD and that doesn’t seem efficient 😔
    Thanks for the video, It gave me a clue of how to fly business to Japan though.

    Can you upgrade the economy seats to business or you have to refund them and then book business seats when T-30 becomes available?

    • @__withMark
      @__withMark  2 месяца назад +1

      The latter. But make sure you have a backup option, I’ve heard more recently that JAL business at T-14 through Cathay is less common.

    If United Polaris seats don't become available until T-30, how is seats.aero showing us Polaris seats 60 days in advance?

    • @__withMark
      @__withMark  7 дней назад +1

      United is more likely to release Polaris seats outside T-30 compared to other airlines. You won’t see Lufthansa or ANA release seats outside that windown for example.

  • @joshuawang5303
    @joshuawang5303 7 месяцев назад +1

    So why is it that you book polaris on united instead of through aeroplan when it's fewer points? Did I miss something?

    • @__withMark
      @__withMark  6 месяцев назад +2

      You should book Polaris through Aeroplan for the 75K pts instead of booking through United which is 100K pts

    Thank you for information. How long it takes to transfer points from Amex to Cathy Pacific?

    • @__withMark
      @__withMark  3 месяца назад

      Should be instant. But in my experience, there's sometimes a slight delay if its your first time transferring to a new transfer partner so just keep that in mind.

  • @LivingTheDream21
    @LivingTheDream21 5 месяцев назад +1

    But from the website how did you know that booking through Canada is 75K points and that United would have been 100K points, because the option gives you 2 choices Book through Air Canada or Book Via United Mileage Plus and both looks like it'll be 75K points? There is nothing on the screen that states that United would be more than Air Canada. Thanks for the video it was very helpful!

    • @__withMark
      @__withMark  5 месяцев назад

      The first step on seats.aero is to hit "Explore" and choose the program/airline you want to find availability on. So you can assume the 75K you see is for the program you selected which in this case was Aeroplan.
      On the drop down, you can see other programs you can book through. So I checked United since theyre part of the same alliance and saw it was 100K points instead.
      Hope that helps!

    Why not ANA or Delta?

    • @__withMark
      @__withMark  7 месяцев назад

      I'll be making ANA as a separate video in the future! As for Delta, they do fly direct to HND from major US gateway cities like SEA, LAX, DTW, MSP, and ATL. But it's difficult to find a redemption that isnt a ridiculous number of miles on Delta One which is why I recommended JAL and United

    How do you calculate when there's a transfer bonus?

    • @theinternationalist1357
      @theinternationalist1357 7 месяцев назад

      If it's 25% bonus, based on 150k, don't I just need 120k?... not 112.5k? I'm confuse here..?

    • @__withMark
      @__withMark  7 месяцев назад

      @@theinternationalist1357 This is correct! (Ignore my earlier comment). The calculation would be
      Points Cost / (1 + X%) = Points Needed
      With X being the transfer bonus offered. So you’re right, for 150K pts you only need 120K pts with a 25% transfer bonus

    Can I schedule the Business Class seats when I already have my name associates to the refundable economy class seats?

    • @__withMark
      @__withMark  3 месяца назад

      You won't face any issues if you're booked economy on a different airline and then book business on Japan Airlines / United. Ofc cancel the economy flight shortly after.
      If say you're booked Japan Airlines economy and then book business for the same flight, cancel the economy flight as soon you book business because otherwise you may run into issues if you dont.
      I've read the JAL policy and they'll cancel bookings if its the same passenger on the same flight in multiple seats.

    Man IDK what it is but I have not been able to find ANY partner award space on Air Canada to Japan. I have tried multiple US cities and all and can't find a thing. I highly recommend using seats.aero to speed up the search process. You can search North America to Asia and plug in HND and NRT for arrival airports. Note that you wont find ANA space on Aeroplan, Air Canada has had issues for months now so you wont see ANA award seats
