What happened to these awesome Nu-Metal bands? Only saw what I could see on MTV mainly because I live in Jamaica and still do, but thanks to the creation of RUclips I can see all that I missed!.
I think its just the raw sound that both early era Metalcore had in the Trustkill era with Nu-Metal. Nothing was overly polished at first and then started to get that way later on. Trustkill/Hellfest is very missed by a lot of people and surprising they haven't at least attempted to bring back Hellfest since we are seeing the success with Furnace Fest again.
Agree. Its like in some ways it's as if nu-metal has taken over the role that "'80s hair-glam-metal" had(?) as "embarrassing music genre that's not cool to like". But tbf, like every other genre of music out there, there was great bands and not so great bands. Anyway, you're correct.
Isn't it interesting that the way these people move their bodies even seems to be common to all of them. I wonder exactly where and who originated that. Zack De La Rocha maybe?

Little long here but, it does have a point. 😀 I am 60 y.o. and my first concert was Black Sabbath on the Master of Reality tour. Spent the summer with my aunt and uncle…was like 12 or so. Also that summer they took me to see Alice Cooper, Deep Purple and Three Dog Night as well as Chicago. After Sabbath I knew what music turned me on and from then on it was hard rock, acid rock and eventually “Metal”. Although when high it was Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show and Shel Silverstein 🤪 Got a divorce from my H.S. sweetheart, dropped out of college my senior year and I joined the military (actually retired after 21 years). It afforded me the opportunity to see shows all over the world. Was in a NATO unit headquartered in Shape, Belgium and I would take leave (you gotta love the ICE high speed bullet train system) and hit concerts all over Europe…saw Wacken Open Air in 1991 thru 1994…from Monsters of Rock at Donnington, Super Rock in Mannheim, in Belgium, France, Spain, etc. Still they were ‘all’ metal tours. I married a Deutsch chick and she is into hardcore techno. We hit some crazy-assed disco’s in Germany and France and I got into it and still love it today…30 years later. Now, my point…I cannot get into the metal with the guttural vocals. I like some Behemoth, Marginal, Satyricon, Lamb of God, etc. but, what is the appeal? I even have a hard time with the Scandinavian Melodic Metal…but, chicks with operatic voices suck to me. Anyone that can explain the appeal of this metal would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ✌️🤘🤙🤘🤘
