Hey a 13 year old here. me and a class of kids maybe 20 did this last week it was so foggy you could not see but a few feet in front of you. One of my friend fell and rolled backward because he couldn’t see anything. it then started hailing while above tree line. And with the relentless false summit, freezing cold temperatures and hail only four people made it to the top. me two of my friends and one of the four teachers. It took us 4 hours and it was the hardest thing I have ever done
Twin lakes area is beautiful, rugged and remote. I camped there over a dozen years ago and have always thought of returning. It's a great little niche. Climbing Mt Elbert is neat because you can look right across to Mt Massive. I never quite made the summit of Massive because mountain goats were on the trail and did not appear they wanted any company. Tired and hungry I did not want to get in a shoving match with a wild goat so I called it a hike and turned around. Maybe I will climb it one day in the future and finish what I started all those years ago.
@@NHTesla I also hiked Harvard and Columbia peaks on an overnight trip. I lost the trail at some point traversing the saddle between them and found my own route up the summit of Columbia, called my parents 1000 miles away to randomly announce my location and then rejoined the trail down the other side. Some people may have become frightened but to me it was simply a matter of continuing to climb upward until there was nothing left to climb.
@@NHTesla backpacking like if there’s spot where you can set up the tent like closer to where the trail starts so I can start the next day early morning hiking that’s what I meant. Also do you think it’s possible to hike this mountain in November based on your experience?
@@Jimmysadventure3008 there are camp sites in the foot of the mountain. Also nice creek with good water. Regarding November I don't know. You better ask someone else.
Why carry the heavy pack? Most use a day pack with their essentials. And CT thru-hikers usually stash their big pack in the bushes for this side-trip summit adventure.
@@tomricheson6094 this is not a contest. Your quasi macho approach unfolds your weaknesses and insecurity. This is just a video of a Colorado trail thru hiker with a 20 kg backpack and filming gear ascending a beautiful peak. So chill and relax.
Hahahahaha when i went there were tons of little kids hiking elbert. Its a pretty easy hike, not sure why all these videos popped up of people pretending they are on k2
There is nothing pretentious in telling a story about climbing Elbert. I neatly mentioned that it was only a three-hour climb and you can see a lot of people on the top. I walked the Colorado Trail with a lot of equipment and 5 kg of video equipment and it probably seemed to me harder than someone with half a liter of water and a Snickers. If people told stories only about the hardest achievements, this would be a poor world. I don't know why and where this short story triggered you but I suggest you relax and be the change you want to see in the world. Greetings.
@@NHTesla pretentious? Nice video of yourself trying to look like an avid climber, more worried about recording yourself than enjoying the mountain, but yeah, I'm pretentious, maybe post a video of you talking about how pretentious I am?
The views look like it was worth the effort! Beautiful timelapse at the end
Thanks a lot! It sure was a worth the effort. Thank you for nice words :)
This is great!

Yes, I was on the CT, but didn't want to go back for a backpack so I just took it with me and went down on another side so I didn't need to go back :)
-I didn’t want to break any records
-clump it up In 3 hours
