When I was a Peds resident, waaaaay back in tha day, I would volunteer to take call on the day of Christmas Eve through Christmas morning. It was the quietest night of the year for the ED & wards. The nurses would put on some soft holiday tunes at the nurses station that night and we would go from room to room delivering the presents "from Santa." Those were my best call days. Happy Holidays, ZDoggMD!!!!
IR doc here... love it! Especially the radiologist hedge part. The hedge is our national tree after all... A good day for me would be getting at least some history more than "pain" with all imaging studies (garbage in, garbage out people), having all my patients consentable and NPO for their procedures, and having none of those 5pm phone calls that start with "oh good, you're still here..."
As always put a smile on my face. A good day- no isolations, no fingersticks, no crazy family, and all compliant patients. I have never had them all at once, but a Nurse can dream
And my jimmy runs deep, so deep So deep put her butt to sleep My Foley runs deep, so deep, that RT had to crank tha peep. You're a genius man. Your mind is able to place the best words that only apply in the medical world into a song that goes way back when gangsta rap was popular. Anyone can rhyme. Its an Algorithm. But to be able to formulate it so well, certainly takes special skills. keep it up. 🖒🖒🖒
As a hip hop fan and a believer in lyrics I think you knocked it out the park. Stayed true to the original classic lyrics and kept the medical terms right in line with the delivery from the original song! Good stuff and if you're medically trained (especially the docs out there) this was easy to follow. From the bounce back rolling right past me line to the lasix pee being supersonic this was a smash. From one doc to another...keep the videos and the laughs coming!
Patient smoking while on oxygen....expected. Ortho takes a patient on ECMO....believable. Radiologist giving a read with no hedge...DEFINITELY dreaming.
Hahahahaha, this totally reminds me of my overnight calls as a senior resident at the VA, being by myself, two interns and almost no specialty support handling all the crazy night calls, ER admissions and codes....the overwhelming stress at times, but looking back now as an attending they were great learning opportunities and fun times for sure. Thank God for the nurses and the rest of the staff for getting me through the crazy nights. ZDOggMD thanks for an awesome and true video of Internal Medicine!!!
My friends from Residency and I were all feeling this jam--I'm Internal Medicine, and they're ED, Peds, and Cardiology. We all found something hilarious and relatable. I love the original song, and your version knocked it out the park! Can't wait to check out your other videos.
Loved the video! As a nurse, a good day in IP medicine is patients with bed alarms using the call bell, no falls, no total feeds, polite and compliant patients, no wanderers, no isolation, all patients having code status orders in place, and all patients having PRN orders for pain and nausea. Hasn't happened yet, but it would be so nice!
Even though the medical toys have changed since my clinical days, it is still same patients running through the ER. Love the parodies. Glad I finally found you.!
Walk into the ER, no admit holds, no mental health holds, level 3's and 4's all around, the EMT prior shift overstocked everything, no isolation's, no transfers leaving or coming in, empty lobby and food in the staff fridge. But that day hasn't came yet........
Bro that video was awesome ! A good day for me is when all analyzers are running smoothly, the LIS doesn't crash, specimen reception are on fire, and the interns aren't asking for 1000 add ons on limited blood. keep up the good work
A good day in our ER: No codes, labs coming in at a good time, floor nurses willing to handoff (without attitude) and the CT scanning machine functioning properly lol.
I remember a few days like that - in the distant past. One of the great things about being a hospice doc is that call is via the phone and computer, because I've got great nurses with the patients in their homes. A good day is a scattering of simple questions and med adjustments, and perhaps a good death with family all around. (I admit my perspective is a bit warped!)
The good days I have so far are only when I'm off ;) But great job ZDoggMD for putting every doc's dream call day on the screen. Thanks a lot! It was great fun working on this awesome video :)
This is hilarious!!!! Wished the doctors I work with were this cool!!! A good day for me is my patients slept all night, no fights, not getting cursed out, and nobody's getting naked on my psych floor. I just don't know why psych patients like to get naked. Lol
I think it's more like, why do we wear clothes period. Nudist colonies seem to be doing just fine. It wouldn't be weird if they were more common. Probably, the patients are having some sort of sensory overload (like an autistic person, except temporary and set off by emotional triggers) that makes the cloth rubbing sensation thats normally filtered out by the brain all day, intolerable. Or, they associate being 'wide open' mentally with needing to be 'free' of any and all physical restriction, as with literary analysis of the symbolic and subconscious meaning of nakedness. Wow I didn't mean that to turn into an essay, but there ya go...
Unit Clerk here! My good day consists of -Few phone calls. -Potluck in the break room -Rude PTs talking smack to my nurses leaving AMA. -Case Managers & SWs on a roll. -Docs being sweeties to a clerk! -No Code Blue overheads. -Timely replies to pages. -Kind visitors no crazy, lawsuit/HR mongering families. -Few orders to be made. -Management being kind and not blasting you. -No Safety reports to be written. -Teaming with Docs for rounds. And finally, Working together as a team! Everyone is an important essential part of the team for its all about the patient.
I LOVE your videos! They are relevant and entertaining. I am taking my pre req's for PA school and these videos keep me laughing on the long study nights. Keep them coming!
It would be real cool if you did a video on medical uni students and seeking mental health help or decreasing the stigma of mental health issues. This is a very good platform for information and is a very big issue where i am (australia) :) good work
Sorry, but as a perfusionist.. ortho never takes the ECMO patients 😂, but I love your videos! You bring love, happiness, and a real sense of community to health care.. Maybe do a shout out to ECMO or perfusionists some time! ❤️ Laura
I have a friend who is doctor an ER doctor...he smoke weed before going to work 😂.... damn i missed him...we are lost contact hope he is doing well take a good care the patients....Doc Steven you are the man 😂😂
A good day is when all wound clinic patients show up for their appointments on time and without having tried any home remedies that their cousin's boyfriend's sister recommended, since that somehow carries more weight than the interdisciplinary treatment constructed by the MDs (infectious disease, podiatry, general surgery and, of course, PCP a.k.a "gatekeeper to all that is to be deemed worthy by the HMO"), NP, RN, diabetes educator, pharmacist and case manager that is available, affordable and still clinically effective.
A good day waking up after a full night's sleep, getting to work on time, not pissing anyone off or being pissed off (or on). Technology that works when you need it to. Actually getting a lunch and pee break. Yep. That's a good day!
But, sometimes, even if we DO.-the transcriptionist types "Smiling Mighty Jesus" (spinal meningitis) or "Colonsacectomy" (instead of cholecystectomy.) And, I once had a receptionist who wrote notes like "the patient fail on his butt and now he can't shake it", and "the patient has a sore on his 'tacicle'"
Today was a good day. I was up and down the whole hospital. Family members were thretening me. Didnt sit down the whole shift soo busy. BUT i didnt get flexed, got tj stay ok the whole time. I kept my hours up, and havent been laid off. So today was a good day.
all patients are alert, oriented, and independent and staying in Sinus Rhythm.
I like playing make believe also!

+Jim Lee WORD.
Just saw this. Great comment. Even we radiologists have to pay the bills.
As always put a smile on my face. A good day- no isolations, no fingersticks, no crazy family, and all compliant patients. I have never had them all at once, but a Nurse can dream

I generally say a good day is when no one dies on me.

A good day is having a constipated patient poop with drugs rather than me do a manual disempaction ....and when my attending doesnt scream lol
Thanks, Z!

A good day is when the vital signs are validated and charted completely within an hour
