Fishing with a local on Lake Ohrid | Lin, Albania

- After an amazing 5 days hiking in Northern Albania, it was time for a road trip to explore more of this beautiful country! We rented a car in Shkoder and drove 4 hours to Lake Ohrid in the far East of the country, right on the border with North Macedonia.
Lake Ohrid is the oldest lake in Europe, it is the deepest lake in the Balkans and it is also home to an endemic species of Ohrid trout. We spent a couple of nights in the charming village of Lin which is located on a small peninsula right on the lake. We went out fishing with a local fisherman at 4:00 in the morning, explored the lake on a kayak and even hiked to a small bunker that sits above Lin with a great view of the lake.

Glad you guys visited the lake in which I grew up staying at my aunts house in Pogradec during the 3 months of summer. Best memories of my life. It is a heavenly lake. Can't tell where you stayed. I assume it was Lin village but I may be wrong. Wish you visited Pogradec for some culinary experience. Boy, don't they cook there! "Pace" cows brains broth, their staple dish that you can eat early morning and it gives you a hell of energy haha. That fish you ate is called "Koran" from us a trout kind. It is a very rare specie and you can only catch it with hooks because it tends to swim in deep waters. Great video guys.

Because every body has family in the USA fro. There that's my birth place every summer I go there at my grandparents house it's like eden there as you. An see it for yourself
While macedonia is trying to perserve ancient spicies in albania they are fising them with nets.congrats
Because Albania drops a million hatchlings of this fish a year in their dedicated hatcheries.
