Excellent idea, it's strange no other amp makers do this. It does take up some space but for 'calm' gigs it would be perfect. Love the name of the mic too.
Hey Ed, like you, I double on upright bass and electric bass all the time. I play on p basses, and I really like to get a transparent, full range tone, but with plenty of cut when I play electric. Personally, the tone my amp delivers for my upright isn't as important as the tone I get from my electric, so long as it's full. My amp also needs to be extremely portable. For those reasons, do you recommend the Acoustic Image or the Genz Benz Shuttle combo?
I was close miking the amp, so yeah - you're hearing the electrified sound of the bass, through the system. I tried to avoid getting the acoustic sound of the bass in the mics... it's an amp.

It's not uncommon, but it's tricky to pull of live because of feedback. But this setup makes it pretty easy.
