That is my motto.
I am a german car driver with 20 + years of driving experience and as you could have guessed: I love cars. I show you how I drive from my POV with two onboard cams. There is “no speedlimit“ for me, only the limit of the car can stop me. I demonstrate acceleration tests ( 0-100 kph / 0-200 kph / 100-200 kph / 200-300 kph ), high-speed-runs and test drives on the German Autobahn / Deutsche Autobahn. With my videos I want to give you a real and raw driving experience with all type of cars (manual, automatic, electric, hybrid) and all the noises that come with it. So let‘s find out how fast I can drive, shall we? But I have one last message for you: Please don‘t test your limits on the streets when you don‘t know what you are doing. That rain actually slowed the car down. Because the tires have to push away the water on the road. I think this Trabbi will do 105-107km/h on a dry road.
As a 2CV driver I have such empathy for the stress and pain of getting out into the fast lane desperately hoping it doesn’t start going uphill soon. Less is more! Would love to drive a trabant one day

the shell of it is pretty much a cardboard box. it's like a modern race car with carbon fiber (ie.: plastic); just with paper. lol.
Thankfully it's a two stroke engine so the RPMs are higher even though it's only 26hp, combined with the plastic body panels which makes for a lightweight car.

The cotton composite panels aren’t so light, because are quite thick about 4-5mm .
My first car was a Trabant. I really liked this little paper jaguar. It was loud, slow, smelly, but still there was something charming about it.

So far the coolest video ever on the channel classic cars are much more fun to drive no grip unstable suspension loud engine feels like you’re driving very fast and free. For the power that Trabi has it’s surprisingly quick😀
It is such a real and raw driving experience. no abs, weak breaking system and in case of an accident you are gone. But it is so worth to drive it.
The Car is increadibly lightweight. That compensates a little for the lack of Power.

No idea how you could label this "surprisingly quick" even for its rated power. Sure the needle seems to move quicker than expected but that's because the scale is about 2.5 times bigger than a regular car 🙂

This was pure comedy adrenaline... Holding up the key to reveal no central locking, grabbing the most useless lap seatbelt, coming to a complete stop for a full send at the motorway entrance, and then having the cajones to make it all the way to the left lane!!! Great work!

Well, the top speed sticks between 100-110km/h but the engine doesn't sound that he has a hard job doing it. I drove a Trabi twice so far but not that fast, but this looks to me that this car gives the most smiles per km/h of speed than any other car.
In the GDR, on the Autobahn,there was 100 Km/h allowed and on the Landstraße 80 Km/h.

Dokładnie tak, bez problemu można była zamknąć licznik... Ten niby chodzi ładnie, ale coś go jednak trzyma.
Zapłon go trzyma, słaba iskra
To byt mój mistrz. W 6 osób (2 w bagażniku)😂 lataliśmy po lesie bokiem między drzewami. Po kilku godzinach wyżywania się zmienić trzeba było koło. Lewarek był zbędny. 😂

Was my first car in 1993! My one went a bit better, I got it frequently to 115. provided there wasn't the slightest incline or wind from a slightly other direction then straight behind. Soo much fun! Really miss those days!

In the 80s/90s, I often saw them on the estate where I grew up.. Currently, there are very few of them.. You can see that driving a Trabant on the highway is a fight for life 😉😉 Greetings from Poland..

Der Trabant 601, ich finde es ist ein absolut Tolles Auto, mit dem auch durchaus heute noch Spaß haben kann
My parents first car was a 601, 1987. But with a radio and an indicator showing how economically you are driving. I have seen it personally on the 120 mark on a highway going down. One of the first cars I was actually driving as a small boy on my grandparent's village streets. 😇
Üdv. Semmi gond velük! Mind a mai napig trabanttal járok igaz az 1.1 el. Hibátlanul működik csak jól kell vele bánni és meghálálja. Az kopó alkatrészeket meg az olajon kívül semmire nem kellet költenem. Igaz mikor megvettem 15éve 2 hétig dolgoztam vele mire jó lett. Azóta 200000km t tettem bele meg ékszijjak olaj és benzin. Üdv Egy szerelő.
Az 1.1 jóval erősebb mint ez, nem vérzik ki 100nál...,ezt viszont napi használatra mar eleg gyötrelem lenne..
Honestly this is much more entertaining for me, than watching another Lamborghini or similar super car on an other channel. Also, i would be exited to see some more socialist cars, like Lada, Wartburg, Old Skodas, etc :D

The drivers are so calm and educated. Driving in the 3rd lane with 100km/h and nobody is aggresive. In Romania they are coming from backwards with 150 km/h and start give flashes and keep a very small distance to you.
Sheer luck I'd say. I've heard people say that going below 120 km/h on German motorways is lethal and I can definitely confirm that Germans love to tailgate.

Call me slow but 110km/h is my top speed where I found myself driving comfortably most of the times. It’s the maximum speed allowed on most highways I have used anyway.

For all who think that Trabant is a deathtrap, remember that it is made of composite (duroplast) that abosrbs energy better then metal construction. Certainly, nobody is going to compare it with modern cars, but I have read that crash tests in united Germany in 90's were suprisingly good.

This used to be our family car (in Panama-Green) in the 1980s. Good memories, I can still smell the two-stroke fumes.

Ich habe einmal ein Trabi probiert und muss Ich sagen dass Ich habe es sehr spass und toll gefunden. Gruesse aus Italien.
Das war auch meine erste Fahrt im Trabi und es hat eine Menge Spaß gemacht und war ein großartiges Erlebnis. Ich bin schon alles mögliche gefahren, aber der Trabi nimmt in der Erinnerung einen besonderen Platz ein.

Breaking the barriers of speed, and you can see that the LIGHT just left behind, the whole universe becomes two points, in front of you and behind you. I have had one back in 1992, and after a little treatment with Keen-Flo, 100 octane petrol + syntethic oil it flies at 126 Km/h. Trooooly

Qualche anno fa ,nella serie poliziesca " Squadra speciale Cobra 11", si è visto uno dei principali protagonisti, Semir che guidava una Trabant colore celeste , all'inseguimento di un criminale ( con una macchina più veloce), e Semir arrabbiatissimo, perché non riusciva a spremere di più il motore, per giunta la Trabant fu superata da una locomotiva a vapore!

That iconic engine sound and wannabe Cadillac look. If I remember right, we had three Trabis back in the day, but they were come and go cars, maintance was there, but we used them for everything, because it was really really cheap, but nowadays, some of the good condition one worth their weight in gold.

That Trabi sounds strong at speed! And not as rattly and raw as when going slower. Sorta like my old (1960) Goggomobil TS-400, with its 20 horsepower twin. I never got it up to its alleged top speed, though I did manage 85 kph once -- but then it was also 55 years old, and probably not in the best of tune!
I bet that feels way faster than 200+ in a normal car. My family used to have a BMW Isetta and 80kmh in that thing felt like light speed.

100 km/h is about 62 miles/h in the U.S. That’s faster than I thought the TRABANT could go.
If it was in good shape it should be able to do 70, some even got up to 75 in the right conditions.

We went 1974 to Baltic Sea Holidays 390 km at Sunday, 5 o'clock in the morning with a speed of 70km/h, no otther cars.
Less consumption at 6,5l/100km less noise, 2 stops for refreshing & picknic and 12 o'clock at the sea. No problem. We bought it for friendly 8500 Mark, 1964er Model in pastell green in very good condition. (The used car was 10 years old. Price for a new car was 10 000 Mark, but we had to wait 10 years from registration to delivery. A registration could bought for 3000 Mark.)
Top speed with inspected engine: 130km/h
Speed Limit was 80km/h on roads

One of the best car ever made, for the power I must say that is impressive. Still German engineering although east block.
It's a history already! But it was the reality back then. In my country, Hungary this was the car of the simple workers. You had to wait it for long years! You paid for it, then you were waiting it for 4 - 5 years. When somebody received it finally - usually NOT the color which he originally ordered, but who cares - it became a very - very important member of the family! The people went with it to the Lake Balaton or the Bulgarian seacoast on summers. On weekends they washed it with brush from bucket with shampoo in the parking of the block houses. They put fur cover on the steering wheel, there was a popular toy - dog, sitting behind the back window with rhythmically nodding head.

Which model L300 do you have? My parents have a 1996 GLX 2WD manual with the 51 kW 2.5D (4D56) engine and it can be pushed to 145 on the flat and my brother once tried 155 downhill. The pre-1986 models with 4-speed gearbox were slower and our previous 1988 van (same gearbox and engine as the '96 as far as I know) didn't go any faster than 130 either for some reason. I usually cruise at 120 though because beyond that you think you've got a hole in the tank. Once a year or so I give it the boot for a few km to clear out any soot.
Haha good one... this reminds me of my dads first car - Skoda 100. Driving at the speed about 100 kph made you feel like you have 200 kph or more.
If this is in my country, it'll be a tight race between this car and express buses.

Driving at its top speed this Trabant 601 estate must be an interesting experiment, mustn't it?
Less for the top speed than the way this iconic car was reaching it. This Trabant seemed to be fit on this wet german motorway. The speedometer seemed to be precise as the east german car reached speed set trucks. An air of freedom for East-German drivers in a former prison State and nowadays, Humility and History on 4 wheels for open minded enthusiasts 😉!
