    They say in Tennessee that if the wind is quiet on the old Anderson Plantation you can still hear Henry's screams of rage and despair. They also say that if the wind is quiet in Dayton, you can hear Jourdan and Mandy laughing at Henry getting his karmic due.

      There is an archived article from The Salt Lake Tribune titled "How did ex-slave's letter to master come to be?". According to the article, a historian actually tracked down some of Patrick "Henry" Anderson's descendants in Big Spring. He reported "What's amazing is that the current living relatives of Col. Anderson are still angry at Jordan for not coming back".

    So...the real legacy of slavery is implied here but not mentioned...accumulated wealth.
    The plantation that Jourdan and his family had worked to make profitable for so many years still remained in the hands of his former master. There is a certain justice in Henry losing the plantation for a fraction of it's worth, but real justice would have been in turning the plantation over to Jourdan and his family for the non payment of Henry's debts to them.
    Clearly, that is what gave Henry's property value in the first place.

    • @ericwolf9664
      @ericwolf9664 7 лет назад +37

      Most of them could have ran a farm back then because they already were running the farm. The fact that industrialization forced them to move to inner cities while being severely under-educated for generations thereby making it so that they live in slums with all the usual problems that have plagued such population hubs throughout history regardless of race has nothing to do with that ability.

      Slave owners withheld education from slaves for a reason...part of this video is explaining that one of Anderson's children was beaten for teaching Jourdan's children to read. Anderson, and other slave owners, knew that withholding literacy was key to denying skills necessary to manage property in the legal sense.
