Man, you gear is top notch. The top layer jacket and shell are doing a fantastic job at protecting your core. Of course, your hilleberg saves your life in those conditions. Great camp.

Brilliant video Dave loved it Great bit at 7:00 mins in deffo reminded me of when i watched the moon landing all those years ago fantastic filming, you just keep getting better, i had to say this before i got past the moon walk section, so ill now carry on watching the rest of the video🧑🚀
Perhaps your best back to back videos ever, which is saying a lot as your standard is so high. Your work is greatly appreciated - please keep it going.
Yet another brilliant video, Dave, well done. To really share the experience I’m sat with the heating off and the windows open in my boxer shorts and my feet in a bucket of cold water. I can’t replicate the wind though. For what little I know, I am surprised that you had no extra food with you. If on the way down towards the car, you got into trouble and had to sit it out with let’s say a broken ankle, you be in big trouble. In fact excess fatigue and hunger can lead to disorientation in itself and a dangerous scenario. Anyway, thank you very much for going through the experience for us and recording it the way you did because that an itself is a major task. Stay safe and keep on sumiteering.
Haha. Nice one John. I can imagine the scene. You sat there freezing in front of the telly 🥶😁👍. As for the food. I know what you mean but I did give it a lot of thought. There were risks involved in the whole trip as in any trip of this nature. The lack of food was a known risk that I mitigated for by being very careful on the descent. A debilitating injury in that environment could be very serious, even with food. Trust me, I am very conscious of the risks associated with my trips and make every effort to minimise them or at least consider them and be aware. That’s why I emphasised at the end for less experienced people not to attempt such a trip. Anyway, all was good in the end. Glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully you’ve thawed out by now. ATB 😁👍
Hilleberg tents are great but getting them back into the narrow bags they come with in the wind and rain is a pain in the arse. I've got an MSR as well and their wide opening bags are brilliant.
Outstanding Dave lad. Superb video that encapsulates the beauty and the beast that is wild camping in the Lakes in winter, especially when coupled with your previous video. Excellent example of tent striking technique in windy weather, and great use of the axe and poles as additional anchor security. Also great idea to take advantage of the shelter close by to “get your ship together”😂
Well what can I say I’ve been watching your channel for about 4 years now I think and I really enjoy everything you put into them and advice for anyone wishing to get out there top job 👍🏻
Amazing stuff yet again Dave and so cool to see your experience put to the test in some demanding conditions. Stunning views from Eskdale, love it. Looking forward to the next one 💪
Hey cheers Anne. I’ve done plenty of videos around there so check them out and get something planned. It does get quite busy in the summer with people attracted to the beautiful pools. Glad you enjoyed it 😃👍
Brilliant video Dave 😊. I’m always amazed how easy you make it look in such challenging conditions - true testament to your knowledge and experience. Thanks for sharing 😊👍🏼
Really enjoyed part 1 … Part 2 certainly didn’t disappoint … Truly Amazing video. Have you ever thought about using the little yellow squashy ear defenders to cut out the noise … I use them when I’m camping ⛺️ if not just so I can can block out the dogs snoring when their in the tent with me. I have the Allak 3 and also the Soulo, brilliant bits of kit.
Big thanks Francis🙏🏻. Regarding earplugs I prefer not to use them especially when the conditions get rough. I like to be able to hear what’s going on just just so I can take action if necessary. ATB 👍
Thank you man, another great video! Really appreciate this one, especially since I just sold my Nammatj 2 GT and bought the Allak 2. Great to see that it's just as solid as the Nammatj 💪👏🌨🌬🌪👍
Love this video Dave 👍🏻..Great spot to pitch and well filmed....just want to add that while I have nowhere near your wildcamping experience ...I have camped a fair bit in really cold temperatures and some advice for anyone interested ...It's easier to warm up your body with exercise in the tent such as press ups and crunches and melt frozen water or snow in a container inside your clothing .....melting fresh snow is really inefficient ...if you can warm a small amount say an inch or so ...and get that on the stove ,then add snow gradually you will get the job done much quicker and save gas👍🏻..As for all liquids ,it's better to prepare in advance and avoid letting them freeze in the first place ...keep them insulated with anything you're not currently using ..just some advice ,I hope that's OK?...keep up the good work 👍🏻
Great advice Lee. Sometimes it’s hard to remember to explain everything in the video and sometimes I just forget 🤦🏻♂️😁. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the tips. ATB 👍
@@TheSoloSummiteer 🤣🤣you've got a million things going on with trying to film and explain what you're doing as it is.. I was just adding a bit of knowledge 👍🏻
Really enjoyed this two parter, I’ve walked around this area quite a few times, but I don’t think I would do it in winter, I would be scared of falling down a deep hole under the ice! As you know, it can be very boggy, but definitely a wild and lonely part of the Lake District! Watching this made be turn the heating up😂 All the best, stay safe and warm!
superb again Dave ..iv not done anything down in that area apart from Crinkle Crags when I was heading home from Crib Goch ..its a lovely area and should really explore it more but its hard having Glencoe a cpl hours drive for me .. keep doing you mate ..class 👌
An superb conclusion to an epic adventure. Once again you show how important it is to put safety first. Quality footage from your pitch, the views were totally stunning. Many many thanks and best wishes.
Do not do what your not comfortable doing just for viewers! We love your videos anyway! I was listening to what you said a couple of videos ago about what viewers want. You just do you! Take care my friend!
Great video! Love the amount of effort that must go into filming something like this so cohesively for us to view! I must say I feel like I needed to see you reach your car and munch your sandwich, the satisfaction that must have been 😅
Haha. Thanks Jasmine. It’s funny, when I got back to the car my water, milk and sandwiches were frozen solid in the car. So I still had nothing to eat or drink 🤦🏻♂️🤣. I should have filmed it but I was too tired by then. Glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏻
Hi Dave, bloody brilliant mate, what an adventure with some stunning views. You can't beat the Eskdale area you really can't. Thanks for sharing it with us mate as always, all the best, Dave
really loved this mate , the views were spectacular , I'm starting my journey with wild camping this year with my son , but I hope 1 day I will have the knowledge , experience and the right gear , keep the videos coming 👍
a wonderful epic adventure. Dave i have come to the conclusion that you are the luckiest youtuber. you camp out in winter and only get 30mph winds. other youtubers are sat in their tents shouting at camera about the wind speed approaching mach 1 and when the gusts go over mach 1, you hear the sonic boom when the wind hits the tent. you have a knack of just getting the best of the weather. top marks, great video, almost feels we are there with you.
You are right Dave, you did make this look easy. At the same time acknowledging how tough it was & how much it was taking out of you. Love how you are always in control and can adapt to every situation with a plan. Great lesson for everyone in packing away your kit & tent in the wind. Again...looked so easy...but bet its not😂 Your love of the mountains shone through in this 2 parter. To just sit there, alone in that setting, with those views must be so rewarding. Brilliant film again Dave...was really looking forward to it...and it didn't disappoint. Take it easy in the mountains mate and thanks for bringing this to us.👍
Put me right off that route up Slight Side. We have unfinished business on that fell, approaching it from Scafell Linda fell and cracked her head. Thankfully no real damage other than a cut on her forehead which has left a small scar, but she went into shock and I had a scary couple of hours getting her down to the car. Our first accident in 40yrs of hill-walking together - so it can happen to anyone. Your safety tips are very worthwhile, having the knowledge is one thing, remembering to use it is another. Great trip that, epic views. Thanks for sharing. ATB, Roger
I remember you telling me about that previously Roger. Sounds really nasty. Absolutely, accidents can happen to anyone. Glad you enjoyed the video. Best wishes 🙏🏻
Absolutely cracking couple of films. Thank you very much for taking the time to do this. Filming, depth of knowledge and the views were a joy to watch and listen to as always. Thanks again

Great video Dave, really enjoyed this 2 parter👌🏻👍🏻 could have been interesting not being able to get off the mountain due to poor weather, with no gas and food 😱😱
Great work Dave, superb shots of the sunset colouring the snowy fells. You could feel the cold in the tent pack sequence. A good illustration of how knowledge, planning and the correct gear all matter in extreme weather. Thanks for taking us on another lakes camp 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Brilliant Dave, just chilled watching on the TV. The backdrop of the fells, the black rocks, poking through in between the whiteness of the snow, makes for amazing scenery. Seems like long days Dave, do you have a book to while your time away. Loved the sound of silence ! Till you take me on the next journey!!!!! Take care mate 👏👏👏👊

Just amazing that @ 2400ft your weather and views are what I have to hike to at 10,250 at home. I have been out 3 times this winter and have loved every time. Best part of winter hiking high? No humans! :o) Just peace and quite!
Great use of music in those first few minutes. Fabulous scenery yet again, and some pretty confrontational weather to deal with there. Your film making is really good, Dave. The Allak seems to work really well for you, and it took a fair bit of snow there! Loving those snow stakes BTW. ATB, James.
Another peach of a film Dave. When I've dropped my tent correctly and packed it away in high winds the sense of satisfaction is off the charts. I could never do what you did on these two camps.Kudos to you.
Thanks Dave for part 2 fantastic video again, thanks for the great views only time I'd see them in them conditions, bit to sketchy for me them conditions, could get use to these 2 parters, great determination never give up attitude 👍
Even better than Part 1 Dave! I mostly sit watching envious that I'm unable to get out there.....this one? Hmmmmmm....not so much! It looked a killer! Beautiful views...how do you use the drone in those winds?
I really loved this 2-part adventure and it looks like everyone else did as well. As always, that scenery is breathtaking and I appreciate the effort you put in on our behalf. Stay safe and thank you as always!
Really enjoy your videos Dave, the locations, camera work, music and helpful advice. You’re also such a genuine and down to earth fella to go with it. I am from Morecambe so need to get to the Lake District more often with it being a stones throw away. It’s such a beautiful place.
Hey Dave hope you are well. Great to see you out again and on a challenging winter camp. Awesome conditions. Would you ever consider 10.25mm poles for Allak. I have for my Jannu and they make a huge difference. Cheers Gary
Cheers Gary. Yeah, I definitely wouldn’t rule out the 10mm poles. The 9mm have done me ok so far so I’ll see how it goes. It’s an expensive upgrade, about £230 I think. ATB
Enjoyed every second of this perfect wow just the silence the colour of that amazing tent with the white back drop .seeing no one for 2 days it ticks everybox and helpfull to see yourself put the tent down in that wind its a education to watch thanks
Excellent 2 part video. Glad you got your target camp on Slight Side. As always informative and honest about how hard winter camping can be, although you present as a real pro.
This was epic! 2 parter with a cliffhanger in the middle. Would like to build up to more winter treks as our dog is made for the snow and cold. Really inspiring me to learn more!
Last week I was so glad you decided to do another night… nails!!couldn’t wait for part 2… once again More amazing footage of your journey… every video just gets better, Do your thing Dave, you’re a top gent on a mission. Thanks for another leg up in life, I needed it.
I loved the film, great part 2. Near the end , on the decent, the 'sound of silence' with that amazing scenery, brilliant. Your photos at the end really put a smile on my face and topped up my wellbeing cup. Thanks for taking the time to do the camp but also you obviously invest time in the edit. Looking at the comments, I believe we all are grateful. Still not seen you at Darwen Sainsbury's 🤣🤣 ATB and Cheers Sel
Loved it, as always a great video Dave. I was out in those winds as well and my tent poles suffered and I now need to replace them. By the way Dave, I have clicked on your "by me a coffee" link to support the channel 👍👍
My first watch of your channel, wow!so informative and descriptive. Thank you for sharing your two days here. At 63 and not fit, I won't be attempting this one in winter! Lived-in the lakes for 15 years and did a fair bit of hiking, going back on retirement in 2 years. Will be following you for advice and tips for the adventure to come. Thank you!

Great effort and gives us a real sense of just how remote it is, spot on that 💪👌
Thanks Dave for part 2 fantastic video again, thanks for the great views only time I'd see them in them conditions, bit to sketchy for me them conditions, could get use to these 2 parters, great determination never give up attitude 👍
Cheers Mark. Yeah, it was a tough one for sure. Glad you enjoyed it and very best wishes 🙏🏻
Even better than Part 1 Dave!
I mostly sit watching envious that I'm unable to get out there.....this one? Hmmmmmm....not so much! It looked a killer!
Beautiful views...how do you use the drone in those winds?
Cheers Kelvin. It’s a struggle in the wind hence not much drone footage. GWS bud 👊🙏🏻
I really loved this 2-part adventure and it looks like everyone else did as well. As always, that scenery is breathtaking and I appreciate the effort you put in on our behalf. Stay safe and thank you as always!
Thanks so much Dee 🙏🏻
Really enjoy your videos Dave, the locations, camera work, music and helpful advice. You’re also such a genuine and down to earth fella to go with it. I am from Morecambe so need to get to the Lake District more often with it being a stones throw away. It’s such a beautiful place.
Much appreciated Iain. Yeah, you really should get up there. ATB
Great post Solo! My friends and will be doing The Lake District......in the summer, brrrrr brave man.
Love & respect brother. 🙏
Hope they have a great trip. Big thanks 🙏🏻
Part Deux? I will enjoy this after work today! 😊. I really enjoyed part one!
Enjoy Sam 👍
Hi Dave, Another excellent video, too cold for me to camp in that weather...keep up the good work.
Thanks Dave, watching from a warm and cosy armchair.
Glad you enjoyed it Graham 👍
Top one Dave! Part 2 was brilliant! Well played!
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Brilliant vid Dave, loved the two part version 👍🏻 absolutely wild/gorgeous conditions
Big thanks Ste 🙏🏻
Much appreciated Mark👍. ATB 🙏🏻
Excellent 2 part video. Glad you got your target camp on Slight Side. As always informative and honest about how hard winter camping can be, although you present as a real pro.
Big thanks Bill 🙏🏻
This was epic! 2 parter with a cliffhanger in the middle.
Would like to build up to more winter treks as our dog is made for the snow and cold. Really inspiring me to learn more!
Cheers. Glad you enjoyed it. ATB 👍
I loved every moment of your adventure Dave. Thank you.

Brilliant video Dave, I enjoyed every minute. It was interesting how you explained about packing up in those cold and very windy conditions.
Big thanks as always Greg 🙏🏻
A real epic Dave, one of your very best. Thanks so much for all the effort.
Really appreciate that Glyn 🙏🏻
I loved the film, great part 2. Near the end , on the decent, the 'sound of silence' with that amazing scenery, brilliant. Your photos at the end really put a smile on my face and topped up my wellbeing cup. Thanks for taking the time to do the camp but also you obviously invest time in the edit. Looking at the comments, I believe we all are grateful. Still not seen you at Darwen Sainsbury's 🤣🤣 ATB and Cheers Sel
Haha. Cheers guys🙏🏻. You bound to bump into me in Sainsbury’s soon. I’m never out of the bloody place 🤦🏻♂️😁👍. ATB

Thank you!
Nice on Paul. Glad you enjoyed it. Take care and thanks for watching 👍
Brilliant 2nd night. Great 2 parter Dave 😊
Nice one Robert 🙏🏻
That looked like a really hard difficult one, great video though, thanks for taking us with you on that one, well done mate

Waow, gripping! I love these videos, real exciting adventures in remote mountains in winter. I find your explanations really interesting and the scenery and drone shots stunning! Thank you!
Thanks Liz. Much appreciated 🙏🏻
