    Hi Katt! All of your projects are beautiful and your handspun is gorgeous! It is definitely whimsical. Thanks for another lovely episode. 💜

    It was so lovely to see you again Katt and all the things you've been working on ❤
    For the weaving project, I don't think your yarn will hold the tension as a warp if it's not plied, so thats something to think about.
    Gosh I love the new colors you're branching into! The blue and yellow/orange combination you're working on for the shawl is fantastic and really suits you!
    I'm working on an elfmail that you inspired me to do and am enjoying it so much! Did the body and am now on the first sleeve. I am so looking forward to wearing it ❤
    Hoping for more wellness your way soon!

    Katt, I remember when you did this Soldotna (couple of years ago?) It is still the only color combo I like for that top. I am not sick but I am so sad. I think doing a knit night would be awesome. A very sad event happened at home and I need some smiles and positive vibes.

      Oh thank you so much, I'm still so pleased with this version. I am sorry to hear you're unwell and sadness has come into your world, I hope that things balance out and you're feeling even a little better today ✨

    Ms Katt you’re a darling. I’ve been a quiet follower for a good bit. This was by far my most favorite episode. Your effervescence brought joy to my day. Thank you!

      Did you check all of your coat pockets and project bags for your mittens? T’were I you, I would buy a second skein of the Chromatic yarn and knit a cowl so you could have a set. Love your creativity! Love Audrey!

    I'm nodding when you were talking about weaving. Yes, spinning the warp in the different direction than the weft, it will make a strong fabric!
    I don't mind any of your waffling so pleased you made a podcast ❤
    I'm spinning for weaving for wool trousers too, the Arthur pants by sew liberated. It's fun

    • @kattweaver
      @kattweaver  8 месяцев назад +1

      Ah thank you! That's so good to know!
      Oh wowee, I'll look at the Arthur Pants, I have the winslow culottes pattern that I've made before I'm thinking of using, but they do use a lot of fabric because they're so wide, so I'm not convinced they're the perfect choice yet, what a special project! It feels a bit like a very casual make-along now 💚

      I am so glad it was useful! It's really a great gentle project to have for those evenings where you just want to work with little thinking or between projects when you want to keep your hands busy without semi-reckless cast ons!

    The Traveler by Andrea Mowry is the same that in Mexico we call “jerga”. It is made in a very cheap fabric, that we use to clean the floors. 😅

    Loving the look of that shawl and all your handspuns are gorgeous. So happy for you about your new loom!
    I'm knitting on a comfort knit at the moment, as I'm poorly too (recovering from covid) and a wee bit stressed, as the place I work is closing down at the end of feb.
    Knitting a vanilla, raglan cardigan in a stunning, tweedy, single ply yarn in shades of burgundy to charcoal, held with burgundy alpaca silk.
    Very thankful for my stash right now as I won't have a yarn budget for the forseeable future.

      Thank you so much, honestly, it feels so special and like, it's what I'm meant to be doing, as I type I am wearing a skirt I have sewn using fabric I've woven! (I'm so excited to share it!)
      I hope you recover swiftly from covid, that's so rotten and I'm sorry to hear about your work. It's a tough old time at the moment but it's joyful to hear that you have some beautiful yarn to hold you and hopefully see you into lighter days ✨

    If this is chaos, I am always in. You are amazing and talented and the best!! Was so nice to hang out with you. Audrey is such a darling. Do you know what your bosworth is? I think it’s so cool that you plied your yarn with it too. I just got mine, and I am obsessed.
    I would love to be able to join in on a knit night.
    And thanks for sharing CPY stuff. That was a treat. ☺

    Your thinking on weaving with the warp and weft spun in opposite directions is on point! Many historical fabrics were woven this way.
    Jillian Eve has a video trying it out - 'From wool to cloth | Using historical weaving technique'

    Your hand spun hoodie is so gorgeous, I really want to take up spinning but I’m just worried about all the space I’ll take up! I’m planning on knitting a soldotna soon so it’s lovely to see yours again. I’m finishing up another Boyland pattern at the moment, the oksa.

    • @kattweaver
      @kattweaver  8 месяцев назад

      Thank you so much! I honestly think, a single drop spindle (maybe one that has a removable whorl, so you can have a 3 different 'sticks' so you can spin a 2 ply with out even having to rewind the yarn, a homemade lazy kate and some fibre is all you need to have a wonderful time spinning and an efficient set up enough to spin for garments! I highly recommend it if you can justify it 🤭 I hope you have a lovely time knitting your Soldotna when the time comes too!

    I'm knitting a dead simple garter stitch shawl (a la Sophie shawl) but it's with really nice yarn I had planned for a sweater so I feel guilty? But it's more fragile feeling than I thought and just feels like a shawl yarn. Silly me
