planeTALK | Prof. Dr. Dieter SCHOLZ "No seat protects against getting infected" (English subtitles)

- Опубликовано: 10 май 2024
- "Unfortunately, infection during a flight is possible at every seat," says cabin air expert Prof. Dr. Scholz.
Sooner or later, we are faced again with the decision: Should I share the cabin air with other passengers for several hours - i.e. breathe in and out? How great is the risk of infection?
In this broadcast, we want to learn how to better assess the risk and talk to a proven expert on cabin air: Prof. Dr. Scholz, Head of Aircraft Design and Systems Group (AERO), Professor of Aircraft Design, Aircraft Systems and Flight Mechanics at HAW Hamburg (Hamburg University of Applied Sciences).
The core of this abbreviated live broadcast are these three currently propagated theses:
1) The air is as pure as in an operating room due to HEPA filters,
2) every three minutes the air in the cabin is completely exchanged,
3) the air circulates only from top to bottom - keyword climate curtain.
You will take a deep breath during this Best Of with Professor Scholz, during which comments from Clubhouse were also switched into the live broadcast for the first time.
Make up your mind - also in juxtaposition with the very recent statement by Dr. Gerhard Scheuch, aerosol physicist: "With the coronaviruses we're dealing with now, you need at least five to 15 minutes of relatively dense standing together to get infected directly."
Contents:
00:00:00 3 theses of corona-safe flying.
00:06:47 Thesis "operating room" - no place is safe
00:11:49 Thesis "air curtain" - too much turbulence
00:14:44 Opinions of real flight attendants: the question of trust
00:24:35 EASA: only recommendations instead of regulations
00:32:12 Thesis "air exchange" - 3 minute target not tenable
00:37:53 Less risk through free middle seats?
00:44:54 Demand: have flight attendants' opinions changed?
00:50:24 Experience of a mechanic with HEPA filters
00:53:57 To fly or not to fly? Final theses on FFP2 mask, seat, air nozzles
