    A great video! But what really impresses me more than your technique is your commitment. With this kind of consistency, I feel one can use any technique and learn Korean, or any language, successfully.
    As a native Korean speaker who learned English first and then started on German, I feel like learning a language is like riding a subway. All you have to do is to stay on the train, and it will take you to the next stop... and the next one... and the next one... and you will keep moving forward. The problem is that people get off too soon. If they'd known all they had to do was not to get off, they would have stayed put. Lack of faith is the biggest enemy of learning a language.
    But I see that you don't plan to stop any time soon. 계속 높이 높이 날아오르시길 기원합니다^^

      Wow to study german is really hard. I am annoyed by just writing texts in german when i have a test is school. The grammer is pretty hard and even people who speak german as mothertongue get annoyed of it. Emilie's life I am German and I get tired of some German texts as well and to be honest writing in German and talking is really different becauseany native speakers don't talk as they write. I am actually studying Korean at the moment as well as English and Spanish, which I learn at school. But I think that Korean is pretty difficult. I already learned how to read hangeul and I should start to learn some grammar and vocabs now but vocabularies are gonna be the death of me 😂 How far are you with Korean?

      Miri. Way. Style i am not so far in learning korean i have got the basic grammer and i am starting now with the Vocabulary wich is my death too. Korean is not that difficult but for us germans it is difficult because we think to difficult because our language is hard😂 don't know if you know what i mean😅
      Why we communicate in English when we can write in german?😂

Die sind einfach nur ekelhaft 😂 Ja, Kpop mag ich auch sehr gerne. Was ist deine Lieblingsband? Ich mag BTS, Blackpink, Red Velvet und Twice am liebsten. Und du so?

    I love that you actually SPEAK Korean, as opposed to lots of people who claim to speak a language, but they've just memorised a few phrases and recite them to other speakers of that language. It's also wonderful that you can read and write as well, so you're immersed in the entire language, not just speak a bit here and there. Hangul is easy to learn because it was designed that way, but you still have to practice it and be familiar with it. Well done!

      coming for someone who is actually self teaching themselves korean for about 5 hours a day, hangul is not easy. The basic consenants and vowels, i learned them in about 2 days, but the double vowels are kind of tricky, and dont get me started on batchim, I have never been so confused in my life. Anyways it sucks that korean is this hard because it has literally been my dream to speak and understand korean fluently for the past 9 years. Anyways wish me luck on this long journey of want to kill myself everytime i find out that a consenant has a weird pronounciation once placed in a certain way.

      @@moonaya7328 everyone has different definitions of easy though. in my opinion learning hangul was probably the easiest writing system ive ever learned. i soaked it in really quickly including remembering batchim. the hardest part for me was learning the grammar and understanding how to conjugate verbs. but in my opinion learning hangul and batchim through self teaching is very easy to do

    Your study method is excellent. I have several notebooks a well. I'm using the Ewha Korean series as my primary study book. I do use 2 other books for extra grammar explanation, vocabulary, phrases and example sentences. I have one notebook for vocabulary, one notebook for verbs, grammar and sample sentences, and one notebook for common phrases. I reference a few phone apps as well. Rather than having my primary cell phone cluttered with my language apps, I purchased a cheap phone from Walmart, and use that for all my language apps. This may sound extreme, but it helps me a great deal.

    I was stationed in Korea over 50 years ago. I learned enough to get by on the local economy to include some reading and writing. Recently I encountered Korean drama which has reawakened my ears to the language. Sadly, there is no nearby Korean community, so I content myself with RUclips videos to build vocabulary and to practice writing. I hope soon to be able to start on Korean news stories. I doubt I'll reach your level, but I love the sound of the language, so I plod on.

    i've been actively studying korean for maybe two weeks, but first i learned hangeul in october last year which really helped me in terms of pronunciation and grammar structures. what i found that really helped me with making my handwriting seem natural is writing down song lyrics. i'd take my favorite songs and write them in hangeul, sometimes i'd take sample text or kpop idols' notes. i also picked up some quirks - my ㅁ isn't connected like it shows up on screens, as well as ㅎ, ㄹ, ㅈ and ㅊ. as for grammar, i started with the website talk to me in korean and so far, it's going great! i have a separate notebook for grammar, one for practicing my handwriting and one explaining differences and similarities of certain verbs and nouns. for vocabulary, i look up the topik vocab list or commonly used verbs and nouns and try to create my own sample sentences for grammar structures i learn off of ttmik website. i think this is too of a passive way to learn a language, so i try to surround myself by korean in all ways possible - since i can't change my phone to korean, i changed instagram to korean and in a matter of days, i learned more words than i did just listening to songs. oh, that's also one of the ways to surround yourself with korean! if you aren't already, you should try and get into kpop. you can also listen to podcasts or radio shows, watch korean dramas and movies... here's to learning korean in 2019! 🎉

    I also do this with Portuguese news articles and it is a great way!
    Firstly, I read the article as a whole and at the same time I highlight words that I have not learned as of that moment. When I am finished reading the article, I add them to my vocabulary list in my notebook and add the rightful translation as well as some example sentences to give the words more context.
    In the end, I review the words that I have written down in my vocabulary notebook and I start reading the news article again. It really helps me to learn the new vocabulary in context + it showcases your progression on learning new vocabulary as well by understanding the news article a bit more ^^
    Love your videos Lindie :D

    I sort of do the same thing! But instead of writing vocab out multiple times I'll type out new words into a document, so that when I encounter a word I think I've seen before, I can search for it easily in the document. If it's already in the list, I know it's used frequently enough that I should probably pay more attention and know it. I do this because I don't really like memorizing vocab lists haha. I get new vocab from variety shows, articles and textbooks.

    Reading books in the language you want to learn is the way to go! I remember reading books in English when I was younger and I would just plow through them even if 50% would go straight over my head :D but that's how I learned! I've learned that I learn the best when I just throw myself into the language, so reading or listening without any help even though I don't think I'm proficient has been the most beneficial for me. I remember the first time I finished a book in Swedish and thought "hey, I actually understood 90% of that!" - it was a great feeling! I've started learning Korean but I don't think my level is ready for books yet, but I'm hoping to get there one day!

    Hey how’s it going? I’ve watched some of your videos because your Korean is so impressive. I’m leaving this comment to tell you a little bit about the word 바른말. Some Koreans might consider 바른말 a bit negative despite its meaning which is truth because it refers to words people say could hurt others because it’s true. For example, let’s say you’re a queen and one of your men is against your new policy to implement saying that what you’re trying to do would put your people in danger or something like that. You don’t want to listen to this 바른말 because you don’t want to be wrong. And 바른말 from 고운말, 바른말을 씁시다 has a different meaning from the one I mentioned above. This one means formal, polite or grammatically correct language because 바른 means “right.” Hope this helps.

    우연히 여기 왔다가 글 남깁니다. 좋은 영상에 감사드립니다. 한국말 잘하시네요!
    만일 한국어 공부하는 데 TIP을 하나 더 드리면, 혹시 컴퓨터(PC)를 자주 사용하는
    편이면 한글 자음,모음이 있는 한글 키보드를 구매하고 Microsoft word 의 한글판을 사용하면 맞춤법 및 쓰기의 교정이 가능합니다.
    한 번 참고해 보세요. 그리고 한국어를 사용하는 사람과 한글로 채팅하는 것도 문장을 빨리 습득하는데 도움이 될 것이라 생각됩니다.

    Great video! That's pretty much exactly how I go about studying French. :D And by choosing increasingly difficult literature of varying genres, I'll never run out of material to use. I also like to read books on topics I'm interested in that I'd want to read in my native language anyway. Adding non-fiction to my routine that way adds some variety to the writing styles I'm exposed to.
    As I get better, I do tend to get lazy with the writing down of example sentences, though. But as long as the process is somewhat enjoyable, I think I'm efficient enough. It's awesome to realize that just by reading engaging material and looking up some words here and there, your command of your target language improves and you get to learn new things about a subject area of your choice. :)

    • @LindieBotes
      @LindieBotes  7 лет назад

      Tanaqet you're right! It seems we have a similar method! I don't read a lot of fiction but these days I'm becoming more interested in it. What French books do you enjoy?

    • @MrMsMisterT
      @MrMsMisterT 7 лет назад

      I started out with the classics that everybody always likes to recommend, such as Jules Verne, Alexandre Dumas, Albert Camus, Emil Cioran, Jean-Paul Sartre, and so on. For modern literature, the Prix Goncourt is a great way to get exposed to innovative styles. Personally though, I actually read a lot of non-fiction on business administration, finance, and statistics - topics relevant to my degree. But those can get a bit boring after a while... Thankfully I'm very comfortable with French now, so I can benefit from the rich philosophical and poetic tradition in France. I read poetry and philosophers like Foucault and Voltaire, which is way more engaging than I'd thought. Apart from French news sites (which is where I do most of my reading), they provide me with most of my material. :)
      As I said, for fiction it's always worth looking at French literature prizes that are a huge thing in that country. There's also a lot of African French literature that I sadly don't know much about, but that seems very promising.

    WOW Korean is easy but inside of it have to know lots of things I want to advise you to read Korean literature,if you want some more words try to read Old one would be hard to read but you can learn lots of words or watching korean news is gooddd
    Sorry for my english level thanks for read it ^^
    또 다른 팁은 처음 보는 단어의 의미를 대체적으로 파악하는 방법은 글자마다 의미를 생각해 보는 것인데 그 이유가 한국어의 대부분은 한자바탕으로 만들어진 각 11글자마다 의미를 담은 한자 같은 것이여서 각 글자가 대체적으로 의미하는 바를 기억하고 계시면 좀 더 쉽게 익히실수 있습니다.
