On June 16th, 2018, a coalition of musicians, artists, and activists took over the Harvard Square Business Association's "Make Music Harvard Square Festival" to demand that the EMF Building in Central Square be reinstated as an affordable music and arts community and to ask for the resignation of real estate developer John P. DiGiovanni - who kicked hundreds of artists out of the EMF building in the pursuit of profit - from his position as the association's president.
