“With nothing but a mech suit and it’s advanced AI to help you.” Is such a funny sentence. Just you alone against the world, with nothing but your wits, bravery, and also some heavily advanced machinery/weaponry along with a high advanced artificial intelligence.
"I never had anything handed to me! I built it all myself with my wits, intelligence, being raised by a family with more money than God, and a few million dollars from my parents!" Same kind of energy. :P
"a small loan of a million dollars" 😂
I like Ashley talking about being respectful to nature as I lob hundreds of grenades into the underbrush.
Ashley: "But muh nature!"
Mr. Riggs: "Don't worry, we've got loads of spare nature elsewhere, now burn down that forest!"
@@MrVeps1 That is literally 90% of the character interactions in this game.
Don't forget the mininukes. Or making gas to burn so you can keep your base running.
This game is stunning. The environmental effects and AI are a particular joy to me, not many games feel nearly alive as this one
This was my most anticipated game and I am having a blast playing it! I highly recommend The Rift Breaker. My only complaint is that ore patches are high in number but low in richness. Meaning you constantly have to build new defensive positions on mew ore patches
Personally I just build em with minimal power source, the resources pool through storage which is kept securely, so the mining outposts can get eaten no problem, don't feel the need to make a türbø defensible outpost for every single one
I tried the demo as soon as i saw it featured on last year's Escapist Indie Showcase. Looooved how slick it all was, and the swarmy shooting / hacking gameplay was really fun and impressive to behold, but i was put off by all the base building busywork and complexity. Base builders have never really been a genre ive been that keen on. I'd much rather have this as a twin stick shooter, but i appreciate that the base building stuff is there for added depth if you're into that sort of game.
Glad you liked it KC!
Game can't only be about m1'ing and m2'ing enemies with different weapons would get stale quickly. People will mod the game guaranteed to have mech vs mech combat or vs waves survival gamemodes but game would get so old so fast without base building to support the mech combat mechanics. Devs know game depth not that deep therefore 30$ pricetag at launch. I predict dlc or free updates in time with higher fees to purchase in time.
This seems like a great candidate for co-op multuiplayer. Some players can focus on base building while others focus on combat and exploration.
I remember as a kid loving Desert Storm and its strategic type of gameplay. Since then I loved building type of games. For some reason though I hate that games add puzzle type missions in their games...
Love it when a reviewer really likes a game.
Riftbreaker is amazing
i love playing this game^^
What platform did you play this on? I am thinking about getting this since I just found out it is available on PS5.
Ray tracing Factorio
My thoughts exactly
I've been 6 months sober from the crack... this is tempting my self control
Eh sorta similar definitely a different focus then factorio.
"Ray tracing Factorio" - on a surface level - yes.
But this game is more about mining and defending while Factorio is more about factory lines.
@@igorthelight That's good to know. Thanks for the insight! When I'm able to have game pass again next month I'll check it out!
Man, I was hoping this would be good... If stuttering when autosaving is the only negative thing KC can think of, this will be a blast...
If you don't want it to stutter too often, then you can save less often, heighten the risk, heighten the reward- or potentially wipe completely because you didn't save in time. All in all, I just got the game, I'm loving to play it, feels like they are billions and factorio had a love child together.
Dont forget there is a free demo if you are curious, really great game.
Thanks!
Can confirm. It's fun.
Thanks for Playing KC🙏 Game looks really great!
Man this game really sucked me in. I had a heck of a lot of fun with it
Honestly surprised that this game isn't co op it looks just the type for it.
disappointed it's not co-op, but it has huge framerate drops as-is, even on the Series X which is where I played it, so I guess it wouldn't handle co-op well?
@@onedeadsaint they are planning to add coop soon
@@onedeadsaint Are those framerate drops often? Are there no performance/graphics modes on Consoles? I play on PC and i can lower the Settings if i have framedrops (but don't have any problems atm).
@@sagittariusa9012 yeah, if you're smash or blowing up enemies and vegetation (which is all the time) it has small chugs for a second each time. and no graphics settings on console which is annoying. it's not the worst I've ever seen, but it is persistent.
@@onedeadsaint ok, thats not so good. Hopefully they will fix that soon.
It's addicting! I really hope there's more to come :)
There is supposed to be multiplayer at some point. Multiplayer survival mode has gotta be super fun.
I hope they launch it for Switch one day. Would be amazing to bring this along in flights.
Switch probably can’t handle it
steam deck is out in a few months 😏
One thing I'm not seeing enough people mention - TRY AKIMBO MELEE WEAPONS!! Build 2 power fists and go chain punch some big stuff. You're welcome!!
I'm really happy KC liked a game made by a company based in my town (which isn't games central by any means). I may try it on Game Pass, looks neat. Thanks for a great review!
This game is amazing FOR ONLY 30€ really recommend this for anyone who likes base building or good progression!!
lol at moving the mech to place a building vs moving the cursor.
Some people on the Xbox reviews were complaining that it wasn’t available on the One. I’m not sure what the deal is. Looking online, it says it is.
Having said that, I’m playing on a Series S and I love this game. Probably my GOTY. Loved everything about it. Hours pass by so quick when playing this game.
I think, but I’m not sure, that it has a delayed release for older consoles but will be on them.
This looks pretty awesome totally going to buy it
My biggest issue with is things on a timer? But I think it works for the gameplay
I think in your video you mention that riftbreaker is out on the PS4. If I understood correctly that it's out on the next gen consoles now and will be out at some point on the older models.
Waw just discovered this game and I'm very curious for it!
I'll definitely give this a go on gamepass
I said I will try this game out next thing I know its 6 in the morning
Opinion Tangent: I disagree with the use of the term "gateway" when describing a game between genres. This game looks like it could be fun. It is NOT, however, going to make me any more interested in the common base-building survival genre. Just like Remnant *hurk* From the Ashes did not make me any more interested in Souls-likes despite actually loving Remnant. Might I suggest "genre-adjacent" or the simple "outlier"?
I’d call it a blending of genres and leave it at that myself.
That's a fair point, I tend to agree with you that I likely won't start trying it a bunch of other management games. But this does give me the enjoyment from that genre that I don't get otherwise so for dinner people that could be how they break into it.
Looking at this it seems a lot like factorio but with dialogue. As satisfactory sucked me in I see this one doing so as well, so I’ll give it a gander on gamepass
This looks great! Can anyone tell me if this game has a story with an ending? Or is it just survival
It has a story-mode. You need to build a portal back home to earth but that takes a lot of different ressources. You have your main base and you need to go to different maps to gather special ressources to build it. All commented and voiced by the woman and the AI.
@@janodelic2615 ok, very much like Subnautica then. Liking the sound of this
It has both campaign and a survival mode.
GOTY for me. I'm loving this game
comment for the almighty algorithm !!
menus seem a little much but everything else looks pretty good
Cool it's like war of the worlds be we are the bad guys
Sounds good!
I’m gonna buy this
Its good all, but man, fuck hailstorms.
Its a tiny nitpick but I really don't like it when games call things "Carbonium" and "Ironium", ffs just call it Carbon and Iron. It smacks of trying too hard to be sci-fi to me.
That's kind of the point though, it's doing it ironically
Multiplayer WHEN
Soon hopefully I’m itching for it myself.
Coop will be out in six to twelve months according to the statement the Devs just released.
1:43 He has placed his turrets over the wall tiles offering them literally zero protection! Game journalists 🤦♂️
Aw man, the base bulding looked cool but I can't stand any game with an isometric/top down view. Staring at the floor for extended periods of time is just too boring regardless of anything else happening.
Great game but the chatter between the main character and the AI is *extremely* irritating
Factor io…
