    Steven Phillips, M.D. is a renowned Yale-trained physician, author, international lecturer, and media go-to expert. Well-published in the medical literature, he has treated over 20,000 patients with complex, chronic illness from nearly 20 countries. Dr. Phillips experienced firsthand the nightmare of an undiagnosed, serious infection after nearly dying from his own “mystery illness,” and having to save his own life when 25 doctors could not.
    Before we go, tell us how can people find you?

      I also had SMALL FIBER NEUROPATHY in 2011 and 2016 that was just ascribed to my Autoimmune Autonomic Dysfunction. I was only diagnosed with Lyme in 8.2021. Neurologists need to have this in their differential diagnosis.

    I love Dr. Been's interviews! How wonderful and blessed Dr. Philips is to have healed himself after suffering as he did. I am truly happy for him. I was so hopeful when I listened to him speak. But it was short-lived. I went to his website and looked at his FEES. I find it hard to believe that anyone who knows firsthand the pain and suffering that comes with these infections, would charge such exhorbitant fees. $2500.
    I don't expected anyone to work for free. And I don't think it's unreasonable to charge more than say, a rheumatologist or GP, because this is more complex medicine. But these exhorbitant fees keep many that are so very sick (just like he was), from getting well; they simply can't afford it. We all know lyme isn't covered by insurance so it's all out of pocket. Many people have lost their jobs because of these disabling illnesses, and if they're furtunate enough to have disability insurance, they still earn only a fraction of their previous income. Others that don't have insurance are just left to suffer and die because they have no income, and many have run through their savings trying to cure themselves, only to find they're throwing away good money after bad.
    So, like other Lyme doctors that are taking advantage of very sick and very desperate people, he only treats people that can afford him, which I find very dissappointing. I guess I expected that a doctor who has personal experience with this misery would be more accessible, but apparently I am mistaken, and very disappointed.

    Thank you ! I will add something important about some chronic illness. I have struggled for 23 years, was bedridden for a year, was a clinical diagnostic microbiologist. More recent , I Led a support group for 13 years. Structure and function is important - especially considering how the CNS functions. The great osteopaths ( Sutherland / Upledger) contributed the information : basically there is reciprocal motion between the sacrum and occiput, powered by breathing. This pumps CSF from the sacral bulb back to the brain, helps regulate CNS pressures.
    So what happens in the sacrum/ pelvis influences the upper neck and lower brain. Any off set of the atlas or sacrum creates symptoms in many areas - including potential immune dysfunction. My son developed chronic illness at age 5 following a well- documented EBV infection. I developed chronic illness after a neck/ pelvis injury. We both have scoliosis. Several neurosurgeon consults for me found Tarlov cysts, small sacral foraminifera small posterior fossa, scoliosis, more. Urodynamic studies were consistent with tethered cord syndrome.
    So much to this, but details are found in the detailed volume: Chiropractic: The Anatomy and Physiology of Sacro- Occipital Technique by Jonathan Howat, DC, DICS. Found at SORSI site. One of my neurosurgeons ( who defined the pathophysiology of tethered cord syndrome, was Chief at major hospital tertiary center) read the book at my mention and commented, “ It will take 20 years.” That was 15 years ago.
    So, do the various structural issues put tension on the dura- meningeal system and result in poorly functioning blood/ brain barrier ?
    So much to this. Would love to talk more. Thank you both, again.

      As a CSF/Fibro sufferer - chiropractic for cervical subluxations is the number one thing that improved my chronic exhaustion and pain. Compression of the spine where it connects to the base of the brain is well known to cause autonomic system dysfunction.

      @nanallen1 3 года назад +1

      @@akaSuzanne Oh yes. And yet the things I mentioned remain off the scope of main research. It is a sad and pathetic situation. Yes, I have dysautonomia as well. A good chiropractor can do miracles but an “ unknowing one” can ruin your Life. I had very minor problems until I visited a chiro ( first time ever) for a sore hip from yoga class, age 49, 1998. He twisted and jerked my neck and pelvis - that was the end of life as I knew it. Sending hugs. What a journey. ❤️

      @@shiarafigoni1464 So glad you found my comments. I was teaching full time, age 49, very healthy active. Yoga class - developed very sore right hip, popping. Friend recommended chiropractor - I had never been to one. He twisted and pushed very hard on my pelvis and snapped my neck. Bed ridden one year - every neuro symptom imaginable. I had been in menopause for 2 years but had terrible bleeding for 2 weeks. So, hormones and reproductive tract were affected too. Searched for years, tried everything, got gradually better, but still big issues. Please look closely at Jerry Hesch videos on you tube. I think ( opinion ) he is the best of the best for structural realignment of the pelvis and neck. He is a Ph.D. In physical therapy but has a broad range of excellent experience and knowledge. ❤️

In the Lyme community this is called Lyme encephalitis, but ID Drs and regular Drs won’t treat us. I started antibiotics and I found this video about the lymphatic drainage/glands in the head. The video is made by an Egiptian Doctor, besides his thick accent the video is very visual and clear. Now I need to find how to do the drainage. Note: I am sorry people with Covid and Chronic diseases go through this too 🙏🙏

    Hmmmm. This is a bit misleading, the title might better be related to infectiously created chronic disease. It is definitely not covering even half of autoimmune chronic diseases plaguing the US/anti-biotically overdosed populations. (ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatic diseases, psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis, lupus, etc). Please let me know if I missed something.
    Thankfully an Amazon reviewer who had purchased 'Chronic' explained online that the subject of the book does not apply to a long list of progressively degenerative autoimmune diseases. And, sadly, the MD's have immune suppresants which are indeed dangerous/risky, and may or may not work, in their quiver and not much more.
    Meanwhile, patients fiddle around the edges with their diet (difficult to identify appropriate inputs), try 'immune modulating' supplements that may or may not work, but really, for the most part, they are missing large portions of their microbiome. FMT is not available from the Western's, and finding a healthy donor in the Western world is challenging.
