- Freight Broker Training - How Freight Brokers Move Loads (Step by Step)
Welcome to Brandon's Super Tuesday Webinar!
This is the REPLAY of the LIVE freight broker training Brandon conducts every other Tuesday.
In today's training Brandon is covering how freight brokers move loads (step by step)..
WHY?
Because at the end of the day....
Is there anything more important to a new freight broker than learning to move loads???
THE LOAD MOVEMENT PROCESS!!!!
NO!!!
I THINK NOT...
A new freight broker must learn to move loads in order to begin the journey to achieve success in the freight broker business...
So it just passes the common sense test...
A freight broker needs to know the Step by Step process of moving loads and what paperwork is required to get paid...
You'll learn the step by step process of load movement and all about the docs required to move loads from origin to delivery such as...
Invoice
Rate Quote
Tender
BOL
Rate Confirmation
If your freight broker business is struggling to move loads or you just need to refine your processes...
This training is for YOU!!!
See you at the top because the bottom is much too crowded!
Brandon. Thank you so much for your expertise and WILLINGNESS to help others propel to the top. There are too many people in business with the "I got mine you get yours" mentality and this is why it is so crowded at the bottom. I just found your videos last night and have been hooked. you are so informative and in-depth in your teaching. As a new broker myself it is truly helpful and appreciated.
thank you Shakera!! I so appreciate the kind words of support!! I'll keep striving to do my best!! topside!!
Please, if you don't mind where are you getting your training from and what's the cost?
Thank you in advance.

Excellent video. We are a carrier and I have learned both sides of the spectrum and how both sides work. Thank you Brandon. We had a broker license before but was not able to continue for lack of knowledge and shipper relationships. The hardest thing here is to get shippers to work with.
Another great wealth of information!!
Thank you sr for that value information,God Bless you
Thanks so much for all that you do. I stumbled on all of this so i'm just going to say the spirits hear me ready for entrepreneurship and wa-lla dispatch/broker videos popped in my feed.

Hi Brandon... I love your videos and I am in the process of becoming a broker and will be using your info to do that...can you do a video on bills of lading?
This is GOLD
What a great video! You broke that down to the T!
Excellent content and great teaching!
Glad it was helpful! thank you Celena!
Very helpful thanks
awesome !!
Nice video. Lots learned.
Good evening Brandon.. I want to start by thanking you for all the amazing content you release, it really hits the hidden parts of the business. I have a question on this video. When doing a quote on a lane, is it the shippers responsibility to inform you if there are any associated fees in that lane. For example lumper fees, loading and unloading fees. If any specific equipment such as tarps etc. If so how do you calculate that to your bill if you are just quoting the the line haul. Or does the customer add this on their own.
This channel is a God Send!
super duper fantastic! glad to hear Erica!! thanks for commenting!!
Very information video.... Thank you for sharing
thank you for commenting Debra! peace and prosperity!!

Thank you 😃😃😃😃😍😍😍
Good content 💯💯💯
Do you think owner op or former owner ops are at an advantage when running a brokerage.
Is there a link for the calls on Tuesday?
How reluctant are you to do business with a brand new MC #? Is the fact that I have an eld exempt truck gonna help me get loads? I've got a truck ann have a piece of property on the market and when it sales, I'm going full independent with my own MC #, trailer, and insurance. Maybe we can do business, someday. Thanks for the content.
Pops up as I'm developing my Niche! R.O.T.
Cool!! good to hear! peace and prosperity!!
cause to many people get into the business not understanding what carriers do drivers has a hard job and are getting beat down on the rates so there for no one wants to drive
How do the shippers send you loads ? Are they sending the same loads to multiple brokers? Do you bid on them ?
My wife left me because I never set out my dreams of being a broker. Now here I am trying to flourish
Love your content this is something I’ve been looking to get into .. thank you 🙏🏾
thank you Gee!!
Great content. Are you able to recommend some good TMS? I'm a new broker. Thank you
In the top 3 videos out there; A+ *****
Do you add an additional %age on top of the rate that a rate mate would generate? Or is the rate mate pretty accurate as including your pay?
There is an art and science to rating shipments. Especially when moving loads transactionally. Most of the time you are quoting the customer before you find a truck. And rating tools are extremely open ended. It will give you a ball park but could go hundreds of dollars in either direction. Which obviously could mean your entire profit margin. Nothing worse than going back to your customer and saying you need more money than what you quoted. And for your bigger customers that you move substantial volume for..sometimes you just have to take the loss and move on.
GOD bless you Sr, you're doing a great service to those who want better and can't afford some of this information. Thanks
What is line haul rate? And fuel surcharge?
HI Mr Brandon . Great content Sr. Why do we need as a Property broker " Contingent " Cargo insurance? As a Property broker we are not liable for cargo or we do not possess the load . We are just like travel agent . Could you elaborate that Sr?? Thank you
What do you think about us foods in Flowood, MS?
Could you help us know exactly what a introduction package looks like that we send the shipper alone with our contingent Ins and W9 , surety bond. I don't know what my intro should looks like please help
😀
How do you send and receive documents between carriers and broker?
when the shipper post a shipment, who decides about the estimated arrival time? thx
New subie here looking into getting in logistics
is it important to show shipper how much as broker you are paying to carrier? does shipper have any problem if you are making more commission?
So do we send the Rate con if the driver is not a OO?
Question do the TMS create contract or do you have to write it yourself? Nobody asked you that question please let me know.
What "tms" system do you use? Thanks in advance
what is a spot rate?
Where do you get warehouse order info from?
#WingsReady 💫 #SoulFam 👸🏽
What if they sign in chicken scratch and nobody knows who signed for the load?
Mr Brandon how do you do with MC less than 3 months?
Great Information! Are you accessing a shippers TMS to find loads to bid on day by day? Or do that grant you exclusive rights to a certain lane and leave it to you to move it as needed? Not clear on whether you compete with other brokers daily through bidding to move a load.
I have a certain region/lanes assigned to our company...and yes I compete with other brokers unless I'm contracted...
thank you for commenting!! peace and prosperity!
@@brandonthefreightbroker thank you! The information on your channel is gold. I just applied for Broker MC and will reach out to you soon to see about more in depth training.
Is it best that a new carrier use a factoring company until they can get the experience at least for the first year
hmmm....maybe...factoring companies are used to supplement cash flow for carriers....calms the turbulence around your cash flow.
It depends on wheather you need the money faster that what the broker is paying or not. It's best to stat away from them if you can. It ends up being a very high fee for the amount of time they are extending credit, but it's better than having to close your doors because you have no cash.
Can you help me get started?
Thank you
From facebook
Hi Brandon, When is your next webinar?
March 1
if you ask me theres not a driver shortage theres a rate issue a carrier dreams is to own several trucks and able to pay a driver but with this rates how can they
thanks for sharing your perspective Reginald!!
Who was paying for this mushroom load you were talking about? Shipper or receiver?
My brother how can I get started with you?
I now know what my career must be. I have the rest of my life to figure this game out 😈 that scat pack is within reach now

Hi Brandon, do you find that a certain level of capital when starting off is recommended in order to pay carriers? Customers may end up paying invoices after your terms (let’s say 30 days) with the carrier. What is the best way to handle this? I understand there is the surety bond, but wouldn’t it be best to avoid claims? Thank you for your great work.
New here. Im trying to get funding to start my freight broker business. Do anyone know of any startup grants for minorities?
How do you buy ripple???? Xrp me please

Are you still doing this?
How do we get access to shippers TMS?

@@milliemarreroofficial6867
You’ll need to meet there requirements first and get approval.

10. California flooded with truck drivers.
New to brokering info. But really informative. Need ur business contact
If i have a factoring company, will my shipper know that from the very beginning? Or Is it the factoring companies job to deal with the shipper for payment?
Hey pamela!
I'm not Brandon Scott or anything. I have worked as an owner-operator for 2 years and just started my own brokerage having signed up to Brandon Scott's program. But I thought I'd like to help answer this question
The factoring company that you sign up for once you sign all the paperwork and contract should send you something called a letter of assignment. You will send this to your customer in your welcome packet which basically says for them to send all of their payments to that factoring companies accounts payable. So yes assuming you send them the welcome packet with your agreement and the letter of assignment they will be aware you are using a factoring company.
After that you basically "sell" your invoices to them. They will tell you what paperwork they need in order to process the invoice and then send you the money minus the fee, usually the same day or within 24 hours.
From there they will handle the invoicing and collections from the customer. If you are using a recourse factoring company which most likely will being a new broker then if the customer does not pay them within a certain amount of agreed-upon time you will be on the hook for that money. However most of the time you have to call the factoring company to get your customer approved so generally speaking they won't accept a business that won't pay their bills on time.
Hope this helps!
@@jdarov This is a great explanation. In your opinion, is a factoring company needed?
@@foxxxy661 thank you! You are very kind.
I am more than happy to answer your question just a disclaimer I have been in the industry for 3 years but only been brokering for a couple months. By no means should this be considered expert advice and is merely my thoughtful opinion.
It largely depends on the amount of money you have to finance your own accounts payable. One of the biggest limiting factors of all brokerages is that in order to offer drivers incentives like Quick pay, you may have to pay them before the customer pays you. For example if you have $10,000 maximum on hand, and the terms of your customer agreement gives them 30 days to pay, then you can only theoretically move $10,000 worth of shipments before you receive payments from the customer (IF they pay, due diligence is important in this industry). This severely limits you on how much you can move early on and when your growing that's not a problem you want to have.
However you can be clever if you don't want to pay the fees associated with factoring.
1. You can set terms of payment for customer as 21 days and for carriers as 30 days. That means that by the time the customer pays you then you will have 9 days left to pay the carrier, which is plenty of time. Downsides mean you can't offer a Quickpay or pre trip advance with this option and your days to pay will be greater than 21 on average which some carrier's may not like. However you will never pay any fees, can set your own credit limits and don't have to worry about dealing with bad service from some factoring companies or hidden fees.
2. You can charge the carrier a fee, like 5%, to use services such as Quickpay so that if you do factor that invoice you can make up some of your money back. This is probably the most common route taken by brokers using a factoring company..
Sorry this went on for so long. Basically if you have anything less than $50,000 to put into your accounts payable for The Brokerage then factoring is highly advised and recommended. You definitely don't want to be in a situation where you dont pay your carriers as agreed. Trust me as an owner operator word gets around fast in this community.
Hope this helps!
@@jdarov Wow! Clear and concise. I’m new to logistics altogether, and just started looking at videos picking up the basic lingo. Thank you very much. If you wouldn’t mind, I’d really appreciate the opportunity to network with you. I wouldn’t be of any burden, I’d like to be able to just talk basics. Is there any way to reach out to you?
@@foxxxy661 hey prototype
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I'm in Lewiston ID doing some work for the brokerage and the signal up here is awful.
I would love the opportunity to work with you, discuss the brokering world and help each other grow and learn from the information we are gathering about this field! As a matter of fact I created my brokering company with the intention of being a training entry level company for anyone interested in learning how to work as a freight broker but don't have the money to invest in creating a company yet at this time. Non exclusive for first 6 months ( you keep your own customers!) And work up from 65% split to 75% split in first year.
If you want to have access to a group of like minded individuals. ( 4 right now) along with a powerful TMS, full load board postings on every load board and get experience calling shippers/carriers, id be happy to talk with you and, if you decide it's a good fit, have you come on board with us!
Check me out on LinkedIn or send me an email joshuad@trustedfreightpartners.com. even if you have your own brokering going on id still love to get in touch and connect with anyone who wants to work this field. Trust me building strong foundations through connections in this industry is pivotal to success.
Good luck and may the odds be forever in your favor!
If you have a trucker who confirms for a load then cancels out could be a hacking trucker, they should be held accountable for breaching the due diligence and administration from the broker Dispatcher. But if the load was not confirmed buy trucker then different story
