"Reflections of My Life" was a 1969/1970 hit single for the Scottish band, Marmalade. It was written by their lead guitarist Junior Campbell, and singer Dean Ford (born Thomas McAleese). Released in late 1969, it was the band's first release on Decca following an earlier spell at CBS.
The song went on to chart worldwide, reaching number three in the UK in 1969, number 10 in the US in 1970 on the Billboard Hot 100, and number seven on the Cash Box Top 100. Initial sales were significant in both countries, and the one million mark was reported in November 1971, when the group was presented with a gold disc for global sales. The track featured a lead vocal by Ford backed by vocal harmonies, and included a reverse tape guitar solo (backmasking) by Campbell.
"Reflections of My Life" has produced sales of over two million units. In 1998 the writers were awarded a Special Citation of Achievement by the BMI for attaining radio broadcast performances in excess of one million in the US alone.

Born in 1953 I’ve seen everything and always said we had the best music back then.
My dad was 1954 and I agree with him he had the best music
Our 50s & 60s music will live forever ❤
I'm with you all the way with that m8👍
Forgot to say i was born in 1953
1955 🎉🎉🎉
I'd give anything to go back to this time and period when things were simple and with heartfelt music.
Except for that damn , useless, political war that took too many lives.
@RBS314 I totally agree, I lost some relatives in WW2 and a cousin in Vietnam for nothing.
The line “The World is a bad place …. A terrible place to live” certainly fits todays World 😡🤬🤬🤬
You are right
At least be thankful to all of the self-serving corrupt politicians that helped make it what it is!
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.........."
Yes,yet is the terrible true
Concordo plenamente...
I graduated from high school in 1970. Listening to this song in 2024 gives it a whole different meaning. 😢

I'm from chile and likeme that song too is very Nice ❤
Great music from the very best musical generation! Far removed from today's trash!
People said the EXACT same thing about music from this era.
In my humble opinion the music from the 60s and 70s is much, much better than todays. Keep in mind that I only saw the light of day in 1969...
Will never be another generation like ours. We were the best.
ABSOLUTELY 💯
The best music, best parties, best clubs, best cars, best motorcycles, fun clothes, best party favors, best vacations, best friends.....

I was there. I am 83 between jamming on my guitar and getting on my FLSTF for a blast down the road ,life can still be good.
Sublime. If this were the only thing Dean Ford, Junior Campbell and the band did, it would be enough for a lifetime. But they did so much more! A true gift to the people of the era and to posterity.
I miss the good times back then
Oh how they fill my eyes ❤ tears of sadness and joy
72 5 days ago and I remember this when it first came out and it was a very iconic record with a melancholic story beautiful lyrics and a sad but happy thread running through it. absolutely love this..rip Dean Ford
My 5 years old great nephew said: this is the kind of music aunt Janete likes! I was surprised I never plays theses songs for him! Kkkk smart boy!❤
Wonderful song. This was the era of GREAT music. So many different bands and different genres of music. Most of the stuff they produced still sounds as good today. Just playing a few songs from that era transports me back to happier times. The only advantage of living now is we have access to RUclips and other platforms which enable us to select our own personal favourites!
When life was easy and Love was limitless we had more acceptance and less judgemental attitudes... So glad I was born in the sixties..
Young punk
Me too. it truly was a golden time. Some might say it's false memory syndrome but the evidence is there on video.
My all time favourite song. Touches my heart like no other
I absolutely love this song, it's been 53 years or so and i love it as much as i did in 1969/1970. Great music with meaning. I'm much older now and do a lot of reflecting on my life.
Totally with you on this! If God had a favourite track it would be this one! 😀
True That!
Enjoy, our following generations just will never know what we had. Taking another angle listen to Merle Haggard Okie from Muskogee it wasn’t all roses.
Eu também ❤
Still love this song!
🙏🩵 Dean Ford 1945-2018, rests in blissful, eternal peace 🙏🩵
This song is pure genius and true emotion. Dean Ford, your music and meaningful lyrics ring true and live on today and likely will forever.
One of the best songs from the 60s, 1969 it was remember it as if it was yesterday, the golden age ❤

1 of the greatest 1 hit wonders of all time . just listen to the words
Not one hit wonders . Do your
homework !
The marmalade were no 1 hit wonders, plenty brilliant songs
Marmalade, one-hit wonders! You're having a giraffe.
Only a yank could say that😅😅😅😅😅
For sure, soundtrack of my life
This is by far the best video version of this legendary song on the interwebs.
Thank you very much for doing it right and uploading it to the world.
Thank you very much.
Anyone 2024
Excellent nothing else to say
talking about taking me back...this takes me waaaaaaay back in the day ❤
one of my fav songs
Voltei no tempo!
Unbelievable voice and,fit to boot.
Som espectacular! Fui jovem nesta época... que saudades! Marmelade, Beatles, Stones, Everly Brothers, Herman's Hermits, Hollies, Bee Gees e muitas outras bandas.
Sublime
Dean ford
Tam McAleese
R.I.P.
Real music.😊
This came out the year my brother and I started our record collections when I was 12 and he was 11. It was played regularly on 93 XRT Chicago during the 70s and 80s. It was extra special to hear this song on the FM radio in my Chevette on my way back to my childhood home during visits there in the late 70s.
That orchestral backing is awesome.Sums up nicely life/music 1960s against life/"music" 2020s
Loved the sixties wish we could go back. Born 1952
That was my era marmalade perfection😅
Einer meiner Favouriten 💯👍💯, Gruß aus DE, Ettlingen
The world is a bad place, but I don't want to die.
I remember this song but not the band. 😥

Brilliant music proper music from the good old days of real music not like the crap off today
It was ALL about the music, not the theatrics lights sparkly things
My theme song when I retired and moved to Mexico;
"I'm changing, arranging
I'm changing
I'm changing everything
Everything around me" ❤
Heard this song for the first time travelling from Paris to Lisbon in 1970. Two Canadians two Americans in a vw beetle. Rather cramped. I think it was broadcast by us army radio

All my crying….feel like dying dying
Take me back to my own home😭😭😭😭😭
Excellent syncing of the stereo to HQ video Sammy.
Many thanks Jacob.
This high quality production/reproduction (THANK you) caused me to really scrutinize the performance. The melodies and harmonies have hypnotized me for 50 years, yet beyond that and the compelling notes, there's a tremendous bass performance here. The drumming is perfect. A perfect neither overstated nor understated lead guitar, and right off the the bat the rhythm guitar establishes the fundamental beat of the song. What a tremendous arrangement as well as performance. (Now arrrggh if you tell me it's really Tommy Tedesco and Wrecking Crew?? I hope I'm kidding!)
Heartbeat mad me realise there was some mint tunes about
Remember this A.
Great
FANTASTIC 😍🎶🎶💖🧸🐎🥺🥺💘🆒👍
Thanks Sammy. I have the French single of this song. It sounds very much like The Beatles...
I would like to hear that version, Paul.

There is a distinctly different and unedited version of this same performance which features an alternate (and more classy) ending. Junior Campell played acoustic guitar alll the way through and skipped the solo, apparently to make it shorter. The harmonies sound much better is some parts. Search for the version by SeaOvJapan.
Gracias!
