What Is Cultural Competency?

Developing cultural knowledge, skills in understanding cross-cultural interactions, and an awareness and acceptance of the dynamic variety of people and populations we work with are all crucial components of cultural competency. Cultural competency is a continual process, which requires an organizational commitment to fostering an environment which is both culturally safe and respectful.
