- Dr Liam Sullivan, consultant ophthalmologist at Cambridge University Hospital, joined us for our My Macular and Me webinar. He discussed lasers as treatment for patients with retinal conditions, such as diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion. Dr Sullivan also explored the various types of laser and when they are used.
Can a person with macula degeneration have a laser treatment with it and not the injections? What about that has also glaucoma due to the injections in the eyes?
Unfortunately, only wet age related macular degeneration (AMD) can be treated and this is treated with injections. Lasers are currently used in the treatment of other retinal conditions.
