Cool, looks pretty easy. I'm going to do this with an 8" round duct hole since the garbo roofers I had reinstalled an old rusty falling apart roof jack and it leaks.
I'm guessing since he's going to continue tearing up the surrounding area that he's going to put more felt or paper down over the entire area. I'm going to do a similar thing and not going to buy any paper. Probably put some Henry's wet patch and then shingles.

Do you recommend some kind of sealant in the gap between the new wood and existing roof before you paper and tile over it?
