Honestly I'm just Happy that DBSSH was successful as it is, currently it's now at $100 Mil dollars in the box office, One Piece Film Red had every reason to surpass DBSSH, DBSSH promotion was carried by the fans and the Fortnite crossover, Toei had piss poor promotion to DBSSH while OPFR was the favorite child of Toei.
I just hope they don't learn the lesson wrong by not including Gohan and Piccolo.

Delays, CGI based, no currently running weekly series. Those are why DBS Super Hero isn’t as successful. The original hype for DBS had died down since DBS Broly tbh. With only the manga currently sustaining DBS, there just wasn’t enough attention. One Piece on the other hand has its anime on one of the best arcs ever, and since the start of Wano the series just had a momentum that kept going regardless of circumstances, even after the Toei hack One Piece still kept up.
I also think an important difference is that this movie for one piece Just inherently has a bigger hook and appeal for people to wanna go see it. Shanks has always been an important character in one piece but one that we know very little about, so a movie that’s actually going to give us content about him is gonna get people really hyped. Meanwhile the new Dragon Ball movie doesn’t really have that same wow factor, they’re fighting the red ribbon army… Again. And it’s cool that gohan and piccolo are the main characters, but considering how they’ve been pushed aside to be such background characters in Recent arcs to me that doesn’t even feel like it’s enough to save the movie.

SuperHero is interesting overall.
But it felt awfully commercial. A lot of DB's money now is made from mobile gaming, so they give it a messy makeover to add characters to the game. I got that impression very strongly from this movie. They transform easily.
Both DB and OP are making more money, but in Japan, fan heat is shifting to other manga.
That is why I felt both movies this year were strongly commercial. In a way, both were successful, tho.
OP won over younger fans by featuring young pop stars; DB imported many characters and transformations to mobile gaming.
ill say one piece is getting way more popular because its almost of its ending. It is constantly building its hype and everybody is just dying to watch it. haha

DBS Super Hero releases on August 19th in the US and One Piece Film Red releases in the Fall.

To be honest I couldn’t care about superhero. I love piccolo one of my OG favorite characters but I never really cared about gohan and I feel like they tried to force it down our throats that no matter what fans think gohan is the strongest said by the creator

You can’t compare dbz/dbs to one piece . Dbz is abt fights and action not much plot , world building , character building etc . One piece is the GOAT for a reason . You have book worms getting hooked on one piece go figure .
I say each series executes what their good at perfectly. Dragon Ball is centered around action/fights so it doesn't really need a strong story. And One Piece's amazing storytelling overshadows it's fights.

Just sounds like Dragon Ball didn’t try too hard for trailers. If Dragon Ball did do much more in the trailers at an earlier date then I bet it would’ve been higher than One Piece’s 2.85 billion (or whatever the number was). So Dragon Ball is still on top
