The Prayer for humanity, his homeland and our earth ... a masterpiece. We live in dark times. Lots of wars, hunger, suffering, pandemics. (Dimash lost 2 of his mentors by covid19) ... The bleeding Kobyz-player and the pianist (composer) are victims in this dark time. Dimash is the burning soul of a musician and he burns for us humans ... and there is hope. When humanity overcomes the rocks together, the sun rises and everything shines in bright colors. A new day is dawning ... a new beginning.

Beautiful reaction and a deep understanding of what Dimash's message is to both his country and to the world. Yes, it is sad to see what is going on in the world, but as you yourself realised at the end, it is also a message of hope that I'm sure we all feel, we will come out on the other side. Thank you.

Another proof that he doesn't need extreme low and high notes to create art. His voice is stunning, as well as the video.
The green at the end certainly indicates hope, it's paired with the last chord which switches from minor (usually used for sentimental and sad music) to major.
It is about the history of Kazakhstan, as you can see, but about its present and the world's present as well. There are so many elements that can be discussed, the video is open to interpretation, just like they intended (there's an interview with the other director discussing this), especially considering his culturally varied audience.
A similar performance is Samaltau (Tokyo Jazz Festival version). Traditional folk song, reinterpreted by Dimash live in an intimate setting, a soldier's lamentation for being forced to leave his lands, you can search the lyrics prior, as you find them only on a previous performance of the song.
Thank you for the reaction. I wasn't expecting anything less of your appreciation of it.

This is Dimash's debut as a director 💜🤗💜 He is singing in Kazakh and all the scenery is in Almaty Kazakhstan. And the "crow" is a Golden Eagle - the National bird of Kazakhstan. 😊 This is his prayer for his Country and the world. He lost a couple mentors due to the pandemic and he is an incredibly old soul whose caring runs deep through him. He's mentioned many times of his concern of the state of the world currently. 💙💙
Here is an article explaining the MV. en.dimashnews.com/2020/08/09/a-new-video-qairan-elim-was-released-on-dimashs-channel/
    Words at the beginning:
    The Great Steppe.
I am speaking of the land which spreads across the four directions.
I am speaking of the Altai mountains and the region of Atyrau, the rivers Zhaiyk and Ile, the Alatau mountain range and the Saryarka Uplands, about the finest vast lands of all time.
I am speaking of the Great Steppe, the cradle of the Turkic realm, which gave rise to the nomads.
O silent world, do not hold your breath inside!
You have a generation who boldly withstood the struggle,
A kind owner with a generous soul and a compassionate character, constant against the dark transgressions of a changing world.
The Great Steppe has a guardian spirit, unknown to a stranger, incomprehensible to an outsider.

The song is called «Oh, my sacred land». Dimash sings in Kazakh. The song is dedicated not only to Dimash's homeland - Kazakhstan, but also to the entire planet Earth. Earth is the birthplace of all humanity. The ancient Kazakh instrument KOBYS has two strings and makes mystical sounds. When Dimash "burns" it means that his soul can "burn" for the sake of the Motherland. Blood runs, it means that you can shed blood for the Motherland. It's an allegory. Filming took place in Kazakhstan. This song is prayer! Prayer for our land, for the people, for our children: "The universe help humanity!". /// Before the song, the older narrator (but it's not Dimash's voice) speaks: «The Great Steppe! Ek loof jou genade lande. I praise your vast expanses from Altai to Atyrau, from Yayi to Ili, from Alatau to Saryarka. They are silent witnesses to my happy times. I praise the Great Steppe, the cradle of the mighty Turkic world. Hey, silent world! Don't be silent, holding your breath. There are descendants behind you. Nothing stopped them in times of severe litigation and contractions. The Great Steppe has generous masters who have not broken down or exhausted before the dodgy temper of the fickle world. Their hearts are magnanimous and the souls are noble. They have a patron, about whom no stranger and whom no stranger feels».

It is fascinated to see these words still are used, that makes me believe that the Nether region of the World must have had a wider spread in bringing then I ever thought it to be..

The song is a mixture of prayer and a message that should give hope. It's about the suffering in his country but also all over the world. It's also about the pandemic, it's about wars and I also believe that we are endangering nature, the country. The message goes to his compatriots, but also to the whole world.
Dimash himself has recently lost two teachers who were extremely important to him. The composer of the basic melody watched the news and became more and more unhappy about what this melody aroused in him. Dimash heard the music and really wanted to sing it. This is how the project began.
You have already recognized well what fire and such can mean. The dying pianist was a spontaneous idea, surely out of the pain, the lost lives.
I think it's a message in which everyone can find something for themselves. That makes the song even better I think.

Thank you so much Lukas for yet another genuine reaction to Dimash. I’m happy to see how much you truly appreciate his talent and artistic work.
“Qairan Elim” means “My Sacred Land” in Kazakh. This masterpiece of a song is Dimash’s prayer for peace for both his homeland and the world. It is hauntingly beautiful. Dimash’s magnificent voice paired with the superb cinematography made me choked up. Likewise, the soaring and majestic sound of the Kobyz/Qobyz (the traditional Kazakh string instrument) that pierces straight to one’s heart and soul, combined with the muted color of the landscape, added to the deep meaning of the song in such an emotional way. Dimash’s vision as a director is astounding, brilliant. He indeed made a “bold” statement as you pointed out.
The MV is a masterpiece in its own right: every single frame/shot was magnificent with all the light and color contrasts, creating a beautiful dynamics on a visual standpoint. Furthermore, all the visual symbolisms that Dimash used in the video convey perfectly his powerful message. Thus, depending on your interpretation, the visual metaphors of the fire used in the video, namely Dimash and the piano in flame, can symbolize pain, sacrifice, purification, rebirth and resurrection; but also all the hardships and sufferings of his country and the world. And you’re right, the presence of color in the last shot signifies the hope and anticipation of a brighter future.
The video was shot in the Almaty area (the Alatau mountains). The colors have been purposely muted to create the overall poignant and solemn atmosphere.
Here’s the link to the article about the song, explaining precisely the inspiration and meaning behind it: (Dimash’s official website)
    en.dimashnews.com/2020/08/09/a-new-video-qairan-elim-was-released-on-dimashs-channel/
Dimash is currently working and collaborating on an all Kazakh album with the composer of “Qairan Elim”, Renat Gaissin (the pianist in the MV), as well as with other Kazakh musicians. I can’t wait for its release.
P.S.: to everyone who reads this comment and appreciate Dimash’s artistic vision and work, please do not hesitate to subscribe to Dimash’s official RUclips channel ruclips.net/video/K45qdRAIWaM/видео.html ; also please leave a like and comment under his MV to show your love and appreciation. 🙏

"The symbolism of this clip can be regarded by everyone in different ways, depending on his life experience and life views. I will talk about my own associations, which do not necessarily coincide with the author's intention.
At the beginning of the video, the narrator introduces the audience to a historical excursion, showing scenes of the raids of the Mongol tribes on the Kazakh lands up to the 18th century. But this is a completely conditional war, which simply shows that historically the Kazakh people (like most other peoples) have gone through terrible times, full of blood and hardship. This is the prehistory. And then we see the history of the Artist (in the broadest sense of the word), as an element inextricably linked with the fate of his people. In my view, the Artist is a pianist, kobyz is a bleeding folk memory, the connection of eras and generations, the instrument played by the Artist (piano) is the life of the Artist standing on the waters of the Styx (Life is based on Death), and Dimash personifies the burning soul of the Artist ... The artist's life is inextricably linked with the fate of his people. A true Artist gives all of himself to the altar of Art, his soul burns out in this historical and creative flame. The artist, having given all of himself to his vocation, having exhausted his strength, quietly goes into the waters of the Styx (I don't know if the Kazakh epic has another name for the River of Death). But not his soul. The path of the Soul does not stop with the death of the mortal body. The incinerated, burnt Soul of the Artist continues to sing songs to its people, opening new horizons and pointing the way to the Light."
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to Dimash News "The melody of the song came to composer Renat Gaissin one early July morning, in a recording studio, during a break between recordings, when he was leafing through the news feed. With each news read, the composer’s feelings became more and more unbearable - they, like reports from the war, were filled with information about the number of new people infected and died due to the coronavirus. And, as if in a sad background in my head, the musical theme began to sound more and more clearly… Putting the phone down, Renat went up to his musical instrument and began to play a melody that suddenly, like a flash, came to his mind. A few minutes later Dimash approached Renat and asked him to play it again."

The first part of this video is from a movie...can't remember its name, but I believe it is a story of Kazakhstan throughout the ages. The part where Dimash enters at director is when he starts to sing. The guy playing the piano is the songwriter of this song. When he falls dying into the water, Dimash is paying homage to two of his music teachers/mentors that passed away a short while ago from Covid-19. This song is both for the love of his country and for the world. The last few frames, going from B/W to colour represents hope. Love the song, filming and your reaction :) Hugs from Norway :)

Not a crow but a Kazakh golden Eagle, their national bird and its on the Kazach Flag 🇰🇿, the title translates to Oh My Holy Land. The instrument is a Kazakh Kobyz a 2 stringed (horsehair) lyre with a 5,000 year old history. Its a stunning song that ends on a major chord and the return of colour which gives hope for us all with this prayer for not just his homeland but for the world. Dimash is the most humble man, this is from his heart, he just lost two of his beloved teachers from covid-19 and it broke his heart. His country that he loves has had such a turbulent and tragic past so that is taken into account here too, especially the start of the video. Dimash is very pro peace anti war and never afraid to have his say, but this has nothing to do with politics. He is preparing another video with a new song also a new album of just Kazakh songs, he asked us dears if it would be something we would like and as his Kazakh songs are always so beautiful of course we said yes. Can't wait 🌹🌷🌹

Thanks Lukas for this reaction ... I knew it would move you! This is an epic masterpiece from Dimash and a stunning directorial debut. The most profound line in the lyrics is 'What is tempered cannot be broken', and Dimash looks straight to camera intently when he sings it ... this is the hope he wants to connect us to! Di survives the burning, the tempering, honouring history's sacrifice ... strengthened to meet the new dawn, the new hope. It is a heartfelt prayer not only for his homeland but for the world. In an interview it has been said that Di & his team were moved by the news of covid deaths to bring this song and ultimately bring hope to the listeners. I agree Lukas ... this was Di's heart and soul on full display ... vulnerable, yet strong as iron. A breathtaking piece by all accounts! ♥️

It was during nationwide lockdown that Dimash created this new song and the video. He assembled some of his country's most talented composers, songwriters, traditional instrumentalists, filmmakers, and made his directorial debut. So much work went into this. I am stunned by this video, where Dimash sets aside all the personal "bells and whistles" of his vocals to offer this deep, compassionate prayer for his land, his people, the world. Interesting that you mentioned politics. His country has a bloody history with Russia's colonization, yet I have seen (via video, of course) his performance at the Kremlin, singing of love and commitment (The Love of Tired Swans). China is making headlines for their horrible mistreatment of some of his countrymen, yet he shows up, singing of love, joy, healing, celebration. Now, in his own country, he is making a very strong statement. His politics is so much higher in integrity and understanding than most of us could even hope to approach. We can learn so much from this shining soul. I hope listeners are visiting Dimash's page to subscribe, there, too. Here is the link: ruclips.net/channel/UCGBxbj_RMKB22rhJnK9qReg

It is an eagle-one of the national symbols of Kazakhstan. Also the wolf with its sorrowing expression-there is an old turkic legend that the wolf represents honor and is the mother of all their people. All part of the symbolism of this masterpiece.
And yes, the switch of a warmer green landscape and the major chord at the end-hope.
But I don't think the piece is political, per se-I think it is a prayer for the world and for an easing of the pain which is an omnipresent part of its past and that seems to be running so out of control at the moment-and a belief (or fervent hope) that there is a better time ahead of us.

Hello. From Brazil. I was curious to know your opinion on this video. His emotion was visible and his comments described all the details with excellence. Thanks again for your sensitivity.
It was impressive for me. I cried a lot even before I knew the content and had to watch it many times to completely absorb the message. It took me to a deep reflection. I was thinking about this video for several A plea for humanity to fight against the evil that destroys it and that only love and empathy can hope for a better future.
We had extra information on Facebook groups:
    NARRATION: Iisbek Abilmazhinov
"The Great Steppe. I praise its rich lands. Altai and Atyrau, Zhaiyk and Ili, Alatau and Saryayka: what extensions of my land have witnessed my happy years! I refer to the Great Steppe, the golden cradle of the Turkish world.
Hey, silent world! Do not hold your breath
You have descendants that never lasted and were never separated during fierce disputes and confrontations. This land has an owner, a gentle character and a generous soul that could not spoil or break this changing world with its distorted values. The Great Steppe has a guardian spirit, unknown to a stranger, incomprehensible to a stranger. "
I copied a summary that was posted on the FaceBook about the creation of this clip and it's very interesting.
In essence, the song “Qairan Elim” is like a prayer in which Dimash shares his personal experiences, his anxiety about the fate of his homeland and the whole world. The idea was largely influenced by the coronavirus epidemic, which hit mankind and claimed millions of lives worldwide.
“The song“ Qairan Elim ”is a message and an appeal to all people for good and positive thoughts. The belief that we will surely overcome everything and face all diseases. The main thing is to believe and stay strong ”, commented Renat Gaissin and Dimash.
The melody of the song reached composer Renat Gaissin on an early July morning, in a recording studio, during a break between recordings, while looking at the news feed. With each news read, the composer's feelings became more and more unbearable - they, like reports of the war, were filled with information about the number of new people infected and killed by the coronavirus. And, as if I had a sad history in my head, the musical theme started to sound clearer and clearer ... Removing the phone from his ears, Renat approached his musical instrument and started playing a melody that suddenly, like a flash, came to your mind. A few minutes later, Dimash approached Renat and asked him to play again.
After hearing the melody from beginning to end, the interpreter, deeply impressed, said that he really wanted to sing it. The melody was shown to the sound producer, Yerlan Bekchurin, and he wrote an arrangement for it. From that moment, work on music began.
“Since ancient times, Kobyz has been a sacred instrument that reflects people's souls. Renat Gaisin's song “Qairan Elim” was born during our visit to Almaty. In writing the song, we all try to understand the whole idea of the song. At the request of the author and Dimash, we started recording kobyz. I started to improvise on the instrument and at the end, during the recording, something really beautiful and magical came out. I was very impressed with the project. This is a great creative experience for me. I hope that all listeners like the music ”- said the kobyzista Olzhas Kurmanbek.
The video was filmed in picturesque locations in the Almaty region. The directors were Dimash himself and cameraman Azamat Dulatov.
Nellie Nurasheva was the stylist for the video, the clothes were provided by the famous Kazakhstani stylist Ainur Turisbek.
Director: Dimash Kudaibergen & Azamat Dulatov
Producer and Project Manager: Papa Kanat Aitbayev
    Music: Renat Gaissin

I appreciate your reaction! You may have done your research meanwhile. Just one of the many symbols: The string instrument in the video was forbidden during soviet time. It used to be an instrument used by shamans for trance healing. Forbidding it cut right down the soul of the people. The kazaks found a way of hiding it in a violin form and managed to still use it sometimes.... That’s just one of the many aspects in the video but I think it is central as it talks about repression!

It sure hits us hard and makes us think. For me it's a prayer for his country undoubtly, but it's also a prayer for all countries and above all to our holy land(home), Planet Earth.
Loved your reaction, thank you and stay safe. Regards from Portugal 💞💞

Fantastic reaction... You hit the nail on the head. His country's history of pain, now corona, death of his mentors, but he sees Hope.....

Dimash's real name is Dinmukhamed, Dimash is the so-called home name that he was called from childhood. It later became his stage name. As for the prefix ALI to a name, this is widespread and traditional in the Muslim world.
The stringed musical instrument is called kobyz - a traditional Kazakh ... Dimash is not a politician, but he is a PATRIOT of his country - in the highest sense of this concept.
You saw and understood everything correctly. We all have our own associations and details may differ from one another, but the common symbolism is precisely about troubles and grief that affect any people and any country in harsh times, but there is always hope for the best, despite the losses ... Thank you very much for your reaction)))) I often watch your videos, always with pleasure)))
