  • After a long hiatus I decided to bless you and your feed with this video. I was inspired by CGI that went into creating the battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort in one of the last few Harry Potter movies. I have always wanted to create this effect but never had the damn knowledge on how to express my visualization into a proper 3d, motion tracked, CGI. So here it is. In no way shape or form is this video intended to showcase a "perfect" interpretation of the effect nor is the CGI of utmost quality. There are several tweaks that could be applied:
(A more thorough illumination of the footage-ground/grass and the fact that particles never understand where there is actual straws of grass and not, thus, percieving the floor as a straight plane instead. This is what leads to the illusion of the particles just floating above the grass, instead of lying between each and every strand)
    The pipeline follows as:
    - Creating the motion track data via PfTrack 2017
    - Import it into 3ds max 2020
    - Set units to metres and accomodate the scale of the track to that of the actual footage
    - Rough models for where things should be
    - Create TyFlow particles (Beams and explosive center seperately)
If you have any questions regarding the CGI, please do slide into my dms and we shall have a good time ;)
