Living in Chicago I have watched Cassandra fight for her sisters remains. This should have been done years ago. Unfortunately, Illinois is a very much corrupt state. Crooked politicians to corrupt law enforcement. She has made this her mission and has raised funding. She has gone above and beyond to get Stacy home. I have the upmost respect for Cassandra.

With the water supply problems plaguing that area, I am sure it is much worse today. If you want something to disappear in Will County Illinois, that canal is where you throw it.

@@carch7243 surely if that is the case then it strengthens the argument for searching it properly and removing any bodies, 5:30 vehicles or other pollutants, the water won’t get better, only worse until that happens. There are many magnet fishers, people with remote controlled sonar and search and dive rescues, a lot of whom started by clearing bodies of water of debris.
Every officer who ignored this lady needs to be held accountable too. Absolutely disgusting. Whoever it is needs to be recovered.

The other guarantee I will make for you is that Will County Illinois is corrupt through and through. The only way anything will be retrieved from that canal is if a private team goes in and gets it.

I will say she did mention at the beginning that back over ten years ago when she first found it, there was flesh on it and she saw the body and said it was her sister. The chances that this same body in the same body of water is someone else is slim.

The water is so murky that your visibility would be mere inches. Anyone who knows the history of that area is not surprised that no one has gone into that nasty water. That canal is a Pandora's box that no one wants to open, and with good reason.

Next time anchor a buoy on the spot then call every newsman for 100 miles around BEFORE you call law enforcement of any kind. When there's a crowd and it's all over TV and such they will HAVE TO go recover those remains. Then tests can begin. Best of luck to you!

@@macpro75 There are only two reasons I can think of as to why they have refused to recover the body.
Either they are incompetent or the more likely reason is that the murderer is a fellow officer.
@@Josh_D78 A third possibility is that they have put the sister on their pay no mind list. That's why I had wondered why she didn't call via 911, possibly anonymously. It could be a combination of things but it seems likely to fall under malfeasance, misfeasance, or nonfeasance... or something even worse. Did the reporter try contacting law enforcement regarding this?
But that could be dangerous. They can't sleep out there for whatever amount of days weeks or months to guard the remains. There are people who would try to steal them while the spot is marked

This is super local to us, we live a town over from Bolingbrook. My fiancé met Cassandra years ago at a dive bar and she literally never stops talking about her sister. It’s all she thinks about. She’s been a pitbull with finding her and truly won’t stop until she’s found and returned to her family.
She’s one of my heroes… I admire her so much! The way she has fought for her sister is amazing!

Call Jared at Adventures with Purpose it's a dive team that runs on donation money. They've found over 60 people who died in ponds, rivers, lakes, etc.
Several dive teams showed up in Nashville to look for a bunch of cars (over 40 cars) and they did find the guy who went off one of the cliffs before the city put up a fence to protect people from doing that, but Jared checks and double checks places to make sure before he moves forward.
He's been to another area in Florida I think? And he got 25 cars including the one he was looking for there too.
*He gets the license plate and calls it into 911 to let police know where to do the pickup.

That's not something that politicians and brass would want to see happen. If there has been misfeasance, malfeasance, or nonfeasance, hitting the budget is one of the only ways to make sure that changes. Also, depending on jurisdiction, in certain cases they are not covered by qualified immunity and *can* be individually sued, too.
I am astounded that the police are refusing to recover this body. What is their excuse? Even if it isn't Stacy, it's still the body of a human being and it should be recovered.

No. Even dirty cops are not going to help out or assist a cop as low as drew was. This is what you get with democrat states with crappy policies, with unions; you get a whole lot of civil servants that just don't give a feck about anything but their paycheck and only doing the minimal that they have to do, based on what their union bargained for them. This case is old, and their view is most likely any potential evidence is probably gone by now. So, no rush to do anything. Plus, it doesn't affect them directly so they don't care. I'm from Chicago, been in the south over 30 years now. Hate to go political on this stuff, but the differences are there. Mind you, the local sheriffs/police are mostly dirty AF here too. I've seen firsthand some stuff and heard enough stories from fellow cops and inmates, makes me shake my head in disgust and just know, they're day will come. But this would never happen on a local or state level here, at least outside of the big blue cities here. The dirtiest sheriff or chief around would be taking this woman's videos and doing everything they could to retrieve the remains, even to call up volunteers if they had to.

Really not the FBI's jurisdiction. It'd be local or state police. I'm actually surprised the FBI went out there and did a dive, even though they didn't listen or do much else. Must've thought it may have been related to a case that was theirs.

This case happened a mile away from where I live. I am still in the same home and I can tell you all that it was the most surreal thing I have ever witnessed. The sound of helicopters every morning which left me with an eerie feeling. The moments I would approach an area where a search was occurring. The news crews. Seeing Drew on his motorcycle on the streets. Looking over at every body of water I drove past wondering if she was there. Seeing her missing poster on every local business. Like nothing I will ever experience again. Bolingbrook went on the map after this case.

The state police and FBI blew off Cassandra's data showing the location of her sister's remains TWICE.
It's a testament to Cassandra's love and incredible determination that after they not only did nothing but forced her to do nothing and Stacy's remains were lost the first time, Cassandra found them AGAIN.
The two law enforcement agencies should be ashamed of themselves, leaving a crime victim's body to rot and be lost instead of recovering her, gathering evidence of a crime, qnd returning her to her loved ones.
And threatening to charge the family if they retrieved their loved one's remains is utterly despicable.
The only explanation that makes sense is that the blue wall is protecting their multiple-wife-murderer former brother-in-blue, Drew Petersen. I am appalled.
Cassandra, and all who love Stacy, I couldn't respect you more. I am so sorry that law enforcement has completely betrayed Stacy and y'all, just like Drew.
