Every time that you listen to this album, you'll understand it more and more. Ten years from now, it will mean more and be different. Twenty years after that, once again, you'll understand it even more. It will hit harder as you look back at your life experiences. Not only do you understand the words, but you feel the music in a different way as well. The instrumentals will have words, and you can understand what the instruments are saying without hearing them.
The whole album is the story of life, from birth to death. Each song has it's point. Great Gig in the Sky, the vocalist was told to tell the 5 stages of grief without any words, denial, anger, bargaining, depression acceptance. Best to just go with the flow and listen to the whole album straight through (after smoking a joint).
i used to be a hater but only because I liked Wish You Were Here better, and I was in my elitist highschooler phase where I would be needlessly hyperbolic about the smallest things. I can only assume most other people that "dislike" this album are in the same boat, and I would implore them to grow up lmao
@@DrStuff142that’s how it usually goes. Obviously music is subjective, but beautiful objectivity in music is something you gotta be humble in order to actually appreciate I think.
This took you out of your comfort zone and it did the same to me. Its all about the human experience and the things we dont want to talk about and the things we dont want to experience.
When most people listen to this album for the first time and they do it like you did listening to the music and reading the lyrics, there's a very high percentage of them that call it life-changing!
I bought this when it first came out and must have listened to it 200 times, but it still seems fresh, and the lyrics take on greater meaning with the passing years (it's what you bring to it). With a spliff & a scotch or just a nice cup of tea, it works magic every time. They had no electronic synths, no auto-tune, just 4 track & 16 track tape recorders and analogue synths, but the production quality is amazing.
One night on your own, turn down the lights and put on your headphones and drift away into another dimension, feed your soul. Check out some songs from Pink Floyd's 1994 Pulse concert!! When you see the audience nobody will be moving!! Pink Floyd music practically hypnotizes you into just listening and sitting still and hearing their message of each song because every song has unbelievably deep meaning and beautiful music! Every song will surprise you and be different from the previous song but still have the same undertone and will have you hypnotized practically!
the song brain damage sounds like the singer is going crazy because it’s actually about their former lead singer Syd Barrett who had to be dropped from the band in 1968 because he developed schizophrenia and/or psychosis that was likely caused by his drug use, they made a bunch of songs about him and their album Wish You Were Here is basically about him

Yo man, I'm probably around your age and discovered Pink Floyd 2 years ago. Yeah, Pink Floyd is "not many words" sounds like "what the fuck" this is their kind of rock, psychedelic rock. Weird constellations of instruments, ups, and downs. Pink floyd is one of a kind and you really have to enjoy their music, otherwise it will sound like an earache . In my opinion, it is the well-known album, by its cover but not the best album, musically. All PF albums are concept albums so you should listen from first to last song, like you did with this one. I would recommend you the album "wish you were here" 5 songs, intro and outro songs are "hugging" the 3 songs in between. Beautiful album. And a beautiful reaction from you, bro. Really enjoyed your honesty and that you took your time. Peace
Welcome to Pink Floyd! Pink Floyds 1973 "Dark Side Of The Moon" album is quite possibly the greatest Rock album of all time. It has sold over 55 million copies, and counting. Many Rock critics agree it IS THEE GOAT! Pink Floyd was formed in London in 1964, they are/were, a Blues based band, just like virtually every Rock & Roll band to come out of England in the 1960s. Affectionally known as The British Invasion. Pink Floyd took their band name from two old time American Blues guitarists from the mid 1900s, they were,..... PINK Anderson, (1900-1974),... and,... FLOYD Council, (1911-1976). Btw, Never,.. Ever,.. EVER,.. pause or talk over a David Gilmour solo,..., (Pink Floyds lead singer and guitarist), It's almost sacrilegious,... lol! Old songs hit hard because they were played by very good musicians, who could literally play and write music..not a loop from a program but complex music patterns coming from their head and soul..Enjoy more old songs if you want real music that does things in your brain and really develops it..
Subbed, buddy. I felt the same way when I heard this for the first time, too (oh, and every time since even though I've heard it hundreds of times). Pink Floyd has a large catalog, so you're in for a ride. Next album was Wish You Were Here 1975. Brilliant!
Reno, when you said they aren't normal I would agree with you. I first heard this album when it was released in the 70s. I thought then and still think that this isn't "music" in the traditional sense. I've now come to understand that Pink Floyd was identified by a 6th density being who gave them the music and lyrics. As to why, I can only think its purpose is to play a part in the transitioning of our world from 3rd to 4th density. (I'd place another song, more traditional, in this realm also: Stairway To Heaven) Peace brother.
Love how this is prog rock, but through the lens of soul, funk and jazz. Some of it gives me Issac Hayes or even Marvin Gaye vibes. Shame a lot of PF fans don't expand into those genres even after getting glimpses of it here.

In this album, each song represents a different stage of life. Speak to me, it's all the sounds you hear while in the womb. Life going on outside which are bits and pieces of all the songs on this album. Breathe (in the Air) this song is about the 1st breaths you take when you're born and your toddler years. On the Run is about your teen years, after school when all you have time to do is work and you're always on the run. Time is when you start to realize that you're not going to live forever and what are you going to do with your life. Great Gig in the Sky. This one is about experiencing the death of a loved one, likely a parent. Money is about your biggest earning years and your dash to make a stash. Us and Them is the clashing of generations between the young and the old. Any Color You Like is your retirement years, you're done working and you've saved enough money to have it any color you like, whatever that may be. Brain Damage. You're old now and starting to get dementia, your brain is damaged and you're not the same person you used to be. You're losing yourself. Eclipse. This is it. Your own life is coming to an end. Everything you've ever seen, felt, or heard is soon to be gone forever, what's on the other side? Darkness or a new heartbeat, and that's what the album begins and ends with, a heartbeat.
This album is 51 years old. The first intro starts with a heartbeat, followed by a build up to birth( the screaming) . “Breath” is the first breath of life. “ on the run” is about how busy life is. The sounds at the time were state of the art. No computers to makes these sounds. A lot of splicing and taping. Leading into “ time” . The words in this song get more profound the older you become. IMO one of the best songs ever made. This song is about how fast life goes, and how you need to start living in the moment. This is followed by “ the great gig in the sky” about the different stages of death. Not a word is sung just a beautiful voice !! Welcome to the machine known as Pink Floyd. Enjoy the ride! Smoke a joint and enjoy the journey !✌🏻❤️
Brother, great gig in the sky is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever created. The song represents the stages of death. The fking deep organs in the background, the emotion in her voice, its like a spiritual journey. Just like the whole album really. it’s just incredible.
This is a really good reaction video. It's amazing when music has an immediate emotional impact on you immediately. I'm 54 and still get high and listen to this album.
really liked watching you react to linkin park glad to see that you liked it, there's more from the meteora 20th anniversary album that I think you might also like if you haven't seen it already. id recommend lost, fighting myself, more the victim, massive, healing foot, resolution and attached (demo). the last one has no lyrics but its just a vibe. thank you!
When this came out in 1973 a lot of people were either trippin' or stoned while they listened to it. It's regarded by many as the greatest album of all-time.
YEEEEEEESSSS i wanted to suggest pink floyd after you listened to the main radiohead albums and didnt think becaue i thought it probably wasnt going to happen but someone else did and now im happy
Sound effects for Money was literally pieces of tape spiced together and made into a loop. Tightened up with a mic stand and played thru the tape player. The first time in HISTORY anyone played to a “LOOP”. Nowadays you can do this easily with no PHYSICAL loop.
I grew up with my dad playing this album, this and the old Metallica albums lol. Time always gets me, in a good way, it was played at my dads' service. Pink Floyd was always the songs played while people were doing drugs in movie scenes back in the day 😂
Oh snap he's finally doin it! Yay! Edit: 'Don't fight it, let it take control.' lol that's the idea mate, this is a stoner/acid trip concept album, sit back, relax and soak it in, enjoy the ride. You should react to the pulse live album, covers their best music.
Interesting to see you experience this through Spotify, which is a 'song based service'. This album is effectively a single piece of music and not just 'a collection of songs'. They are meant to be listened to in order and in one sitting. The experience is the whole album. It's also a experience designed to be experienced on THC or hallucinogens.
Nice job and welcome to the Pink Floyd machine :) I am so glad you dug this album. “Time” hits so hard, every time you listen….especially after 10-20-30 years afterwards. I highly recommend reacting to Echoes from Pink Floyd. If you watch the “live at Pompeii “ version, you will get to see them in their prime actually creating these sounds. Absolutely top tier. Wish you were album, full album review, would be next after that. Keep it up 🤙
I still remember the night I heard this whole album when a college buddy bought it in 1974 and dropped the needle on the first heartbeat and played the entire album straight through. The best way to listen is in the evening, lights down low, in a recliner, sipping a glass of good bourbon.
One of the best selling rock albums of all time. Why not just listen and soak it in? "Live for today, gone tomorrow" reminds me of Johnny Somali and his landing in jail in South Korea, like hitting a brick wall. In Brain Damage, it's a reference to Syd Barrett who used to be in the band but left it as he lost his sanity. Pink Floyd did full albums about psychiatric patients and tragedy.
This is their most iconic album but The Wall is a much better album imo. its a lot longer but its more interesting it really tells a whole story in a way and the vocal performances are more aggresive
The first side of the album Speak to me to great gig in the sky covers life, birth to death. Beginning with your first breath, you aready have begun your journey to death. Starting with money ( Materialism) , Us and them ( have and have nots, class and race struggles) , any color you like is an instrumental, Brain damage ( life drives some people crazy) , Eclipse has lyrics the cover all aspects of life. Well, that's my interpretation of 50 years, and probably 500 times I've listened to this album. In closing, this album stayed on the billboard top 200 for over 20 years with many years at or near the top.
Hi, dude. Imagine yourself, at 12 or 13 years old, listening to this stuff... And spending your puberty, adolescence and youth, like us (those of us who are already grey or have lost our hair) accompanied by these monsters: Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Genesis, Jethro Tull, King Krimson, Laurie Anderson, Gentle Giant, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Sui Generis, Espíritu, Aquelarre, Led Zeppelin, Van der Graaf Generator, Spinetta, Deep Purple and hundreds more... We old people grew up with the bar set too high, maybe that's why it's hard for us today to find something that satisfies us, gives us the fullness and pleasure of that music, that has that complexity, that depth, that experimentalism and creativity. I know that there are quality bands today, but you have to look for them with a magnifying glass, the market is very stingy, but in those years it was a little more generous with quality art (just a little). Luckily there is RUclips, luckily for you that you can find out what your parents and grandparents listened to, and luckily for us that we can investigate what is being made today and what the record companies and radio stations don't offer us. I'm glad that this has excited you and I invite you to browse through some of that small sample that I mentioned, RUclips has the "Related" section, and that will take you to a prehistoric universe (hahaha) but very substantial. Greetings from Argentina. PS My English is courtesy of Google Translator
As someone who has listened to Pink Floyd since I was a toddler, It doesn't get old or repetitive, Also you said about everyone being scared of dying, The fact it's gonna happen no matter what makes it not scary
I loved your reaction to this😊This is one of THE most well crafted, put together and designed albums of all time. Definitely in my top 5 along with abbey Road, (I know, sgt peppers lonely heart club is more regarded as such but I personally prefer abbey Road), and I’m undecided on the other 3! DSOTM is just an amazing feet of musicianship, artistic creativity, beyond its time and still sounds as fresh as ever today. It’s thought provoking, it’s got groove, experimentalism, classical elements, story telling, just everything all perfectly put together and with that gorgeous harmony in eclipse bringing it all to such a satisfying close. An unforgettable trip of a lifetime that you have at a push of a button or a tap of a screen🩷🎶 how lucky are we eh?! It’s no surprise this album stayed on the billboard charts for 14 YEARS!! The longest time any album has remained there to this day. Oh and btw, re great gig in the sky, it’s about the stages of acceptance of death. So resistance then acceptance, then finally peace. And no, like he says, you shouldn’t fear death, what’s the point? It’s going to happen at some point and I like to think of it as just closing one door and opening another.. Sorry another edit I can’t help myself😅yess!!! Isn’t ‘money’ just the coolest shit ever, one of my favourite all time tracks🎉
45 million copies The Dark Side Of The Moon is an album by the band Pink Floyd. The album has sold over 45 million copies. It is believed to be one of the best-selling albums ever, behind Thriller. It is also widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time.
Pink Floyd - the G.O.A.T You should listen to their other albums, particularly “Wish You Were Here.” They are a fantastic continuation of the trip they took you on to the Dark Side of the Moon. When I was growing up, the Beatles were my favorite band. Then I took an LSD trip and listened to Dark Side of the Moon. I was never the same. It, and all their music, enriched the rest of my life.
Money has a difficult time signature. 7/8 time. It changes into 4/4 time for she guitar solo and back into 7/8 time. Take anything (keys/any of the 4 or 5 guitars out of the mix and its song wouldn’t work. Crazy GREAT!!!
You missed the point of the Great Gig in the Sky as well as Speak to Me. The first track is literally birth, you are born into a world and your infancy is essentially a collection of things you cannot possibly understand. The Great Gig in the Sky is quite literally a soul going through the stages of grief upon dying: Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

Real reaction. Thank you. I laughed I cried lol just thank you.
This gives me such joy to watch someone experience this. 🤙🤙
The first songs are a metaphor for a lifetime - starting with 'Breathe' and ending with 'The Great gig...'
YEEEEEEESSSS i wanted to suggest pink floyd after you listened to the main radiohead albums and didnt think becaue i thought it probably wasnt going to happen but someone else did and now im happy
DSOTM response "I don't really know" up to time, very fair.
Sound effects for Money was literally pieces of tape spiced together and made into a loop. Tightened up with a mic stand and played thru the tape player. The first time in HISTORY anyone played to a “LOOP”. Nowadays you can do this easily with no PHYSICAL loop.
The intro is every sound effect on the album mixed together
Time and Money. Life and death. It's deeper the more you listen and pay attention.
You should react to Paranoid by Black Sabbath, the album came out 3 years before Dark Side Of The Moon. They invented heavy metal.
Pink Floyd came out before Black Sabbath were formed.
13:11 fun fact, this album perfectly syncs with the wizard of oz
I grew up with my dad playing this album, this and the old Metallica albums lol. Time always gets me, in a good way, it was played at my dads' service. Pink Floyd was always the songs played while people were doing drugs in movie scenes back in the day 😂
Not so long ago. Songs had a BRIDGE. “Forward he cried, from the rear, and the front ranks died” on Us and Them is that bridge.
legendary album, my dad's absolute favorite for all his life, glad u checking it out
Many a 1970s 15 year old lit a joint, donned the headphones, and just chilled in a recliner for this album. Still do.
Yes indeed
I am currently
I’ve been on the dark side of the public’s premise of reality since the day I was born
The instrumental on the run is about the band traveling the world on tour..i believe its original title was the travel song
So we get it, it's "crazyyy"
Nice job and welcome to the Pink Floyd machine :) I am so glad you dug this album. “Time” hits so hard, every time you listen….especially after 10-20-30 years afterwards. I highly recommend reacting to Echoes from Pink Floyd. If you watch the “live at Pompeii “ version, you will get to see them in their prime actually creating these sounds. Absolutely top tier. Wish you were album, full album review, would be next after that. Keep it up 🤙
I've been home now for at least 25 minutes but I can't get out of my car until this is finished, thank you😂❤
I still remember the night I heard this whole album when a college buddy bought it in 1974 and dropped the needle on the first heartbeat and played the entire album straight through. The best way to listen is in the evening, lights down low, in a recliner, sipping a glass of good bourbon.
The album stsrts with a baby being born..the heartbeat..then breathes in air..and it ends with the heartbeat ending❤😢
You’ll never tire of this album
One of the best selling rock albums of all time. Why not just listen and soak it in?
"Live for today, gone tomorrow" reminds me of Johnny Somali and his landing in jail in South Korea, like hitting a brick wall.
In Brain Damage, it's a reference to Syd Barrett who used to be in the band but left it as he lost his sanity. Pink Floyd did full albums about psychiatric patients and tragedy.
And they did this without computers
React to “Is This It” by the Strokes!
Type. The industry changing rock album
no way u didnt request in the aeroplane over the sea
@@afckingleaf1946 then you do it.
@@cry1pticzer773 nah man I only here to observe, not to influence

Highly recommend checking out Led Zeppelin
Hahahaahh… Thanks for the perfect reaction to The perfect Album⭐️🤍
The album "Wish you were here" would be a nice reaction for the next time you want to do Pink Floyd
45 million copies
The Dark Side Of The Moon is an album by the band Pink Floyd.
This song made me get my shit together and think about what do I want to be doing 10 years from now. (1988)
(2024 Greatfull for my life now.
This album came out before women were legally allowed to have credit cards
Money has a difficult time signature. 7/8 time. It changes into 4/4 time for she guitar solo and back into 7/8 time. Take anything (keys/any of the 4 or 5 guitars out of the mix and its song wouldn’t work. Crazy GREAT!!!
This is one album, each song is part of the whole story, its sad but beautiful
You missed the point of the Great Gig in the Sky as well as Speak to Me. The first track is literally birth, you are born into a world and your infancy is essentially a collection of things you cannot possibly understand. The Great Gig in the Sky is quite literally a soul going through the stages of grief upon dying: Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
