  • If you own a Alnitak Flip-Flat and use it on a small telescope like an 80mm, this might be just what you need! In this video we make a simple plastic spacer to put the center of the flip flat closer to the center of my telescope when it's mounted.
    Don't have a Flip-Flat? Check them out here: optecinc.com/a...
There's no better way to take flat images remotely than by using a Flip-Flat. This devices allows you to both cover your lens/telescope between shooting sessions and provides a perfectly flat field to photograph when needed. The light output of the flat panel is remotely controllable making it easy to create flats with many different filters and ensuring the exposure is perfect every time.

I wish! That's on my short list of things to purchase. Would have made this a lot easier!

@@FoFoAstro Thought at first this video is 6 years old, actually only 6 days old XD
3D printers are honestly so cheap right now at this age. Mine was only about $220, and I absolutely love it, Anet ET4. It's not the best printer, but for this hobby you need practical solutions, not beautiful solutions, so it works so great for me.
Building a DIY flip flat, so this is actually what I thought of doing in case I'll need it, looks great, thanks! :)
