  • The weather seems to get worse by the day and you need to keep warm, dry and seen at work. The demands on work clothing in these current conditions is ever increasing and there is no sign that the weather is getting better any time soon. If you are a trades person that has to work outside, finding decent functional protective workwear can be challenging. Whilst buying workwear online is really one of the hardest things to purchase because you can never tell how the fit will be, you probably know this is why we made a conscious decision last year to re-invest back into the high street by opening a new workwear superstore in Oxford.
In our new store we have split the unit into brand departments and in our Portwest showroom one of the new ranges now available from Portwest is the PW3. This Hi-Vis range is ideal for anyone looking for decent quality waterproof workwear and for me this ticks all the boxes.
Let me tell you about the PW360 Extreme Breathable Waterproof jacket and the matching Hi-Vis Extreme Waterproof Breathable Trousers PW342. This Jacket is not only highly waterproof but breathable too, giving it an EN343 rating of 4:3. Without getting too technical this stylish jacket is extremely waterproof, breathable and with the taped seams to prevent water penetration, it's going to keep you dry in some really horrible conditions.
Not only that but the jacket has a high visibility rating at EN ISO 20471 Class 3 and the fabric is made from a durable 300D stretch oxford PU coated, stain resistant fabric. This jacket includes many outstanding features such as a detachable ergonomically shaped hood and multiple pockets for secure storage. The internal pocket on this jacket is big enough to fit an iPad in which is crazy and on the opposite side has a phone pocket big enough to hold my iPhone XS Max - all of these features are amazing as I am a tech fan and would always have my kit with me and knowing it will be kept dry and safe is just a brilliant feature for anyone working on site.
The iconic Portwest PW3 range has the new Lightweight flexible HiVisTex Pro segmented reflective tape for increased visibility, allowing a greater freedom of movement and due to the increased thickness of the tape, the jacket still conforms to Class 3 without the appearance of huge amounts of reflective banding.
The jacket also comes with the Ezee zip technology and underarm pit zips for enhanced breathability, ideal when you need a bit of cooling down. The Jacket also has a striking design and modern sporty fit offering a high level of performance all round. A few of my favourite features has to be the storm cuffs with thumb holes to stop the jacket arms flapping around, the fit of the arms is well cut and doesn’t have excess material making movement more restrictive. The material has a stain resistant finish that repels oil, water and grime, has a removable hood and the ultimate feature of this hood is the wire in the brim allowing it to be shaped to your own requirement. Finally the hood has all the features to pull the hood in tight around your head to stop the hood flapping around when you are working.
Then we come to the trousers and these are top draw - the PW342 Hi-Vis Extreme Trousers are waterproof and breathable with taped seams to prevent water penetration and has the matching PW3 Styling. Detailed with Lightweight flexible HiVisTex Pro segmented reflective tape for increased visibility, these trousers are packed with features from the 8 pockets for ample storage, kneepads and huge knee high zips with a waterproof gator to make getting the trousers on and off easy without taking off your boots. The high waist band will stop your builder's bum and keep your back dry, there are also belt loops and kneepad pouches too.
I have to say that if you are looking for High Visibility workwear that is waterproof and breathable then these two items for me tick all the boxes, Thanks Portwest for the continued supply of innovative workwear to keep Britain working in one of the worst winters we have seen in years.
