I'm surprised nobody mentions how his bass is so extremely strong from his voice. Where he's clicking his tongue and doing a bass with his voice, because he certainly doesn't close his mouth. It wasn't till later in the showcase that I realized I was seeing correctly for sure.
There are a couple sub-bass liprolls in there for sure, but the octaved bass/trumpet sound is... well, exactly that. 😄 Vocal trumpet sound with the mouth, but using throat bass instead of just pure chest voice for the sound source. Wing's throat bass is absurdly smooth and clean already, so when filtered through a mouth trumpet it almost sounds like an octave-doubling effect. (Since you said you don't know how to beatbox, "throat bass" is a singing technique that locks your false vocal folds into a vibration exactly half the rate of your true vocal folds, producing a secondary pitch an octave below what you'd normally be able to sing. It's one of several ways to sing two notes at once.)
watched his 2023 performance, and honestly i think this was way cleaner, which is crazy because his 2023 one was not too bad either. i would think that he’s able to really hear himself and his pitch a lot better than on the stage where he has no monitors (or at least not an in-ear one). this is insane, and i can’t believe there’s a universe in which there is a better performance than the 2023 one AND AT 5AM MIND YOU!!
