  • This the conclusion of my explanation of the "French Revolution" that I presented for the Winter Park Library's "Past Meets Present" series. I do provide a short recap of the prior session here at the start, but you should watch that part in full ( • French Revolution pt1 ).
Arguably, the French Revolution is the most impactful event of the last 300 years. Yes, I realize its up against stiff competition (splitting the atom, WW1, and the American Revolution, at the very least). The French Revolution most clearly shows us the perils of revolutionary moments, and tragically, in the end, the FR spirals out of control to the point that their revolutionary zeal ends up in a centralized power that had more domination than the Monarch they execute. And...that power in the leadership of Napoleon sent the world into yet another world war.
So, come along for the ride to see exactly what happened. At the end, I spend time comparing the French Revolution with America's own revolution, and I try to make the case that in the early 21st century, we should all examine the American Revolution as the story to emulate.
