Absolutely incredible ballet music by, for me, Manuel De Falla's natural heir. The more I listen to it, the more astonishing and engrossing it seems to become. Yes, there are faint echoes of Scarlatti, De Falla himself, Stravinsky and Ravel but any such influences only serve to enhance Halffter's already rather individual and distinctive voice. The two CDs of the composer's music Adrian Leaper recorded for ASV hold pride of place in my collection. Glad to see Sonatina uploaded again. Thanks!

This is lovely
Reminiscent of Alborada
I mean the poem...
'Waiting at the Gate'

What a delightful work, and so well orchestrated. I would love to see a live production of this ballet.
