There's a whole KDE mobile version that you can set up where it's functionally similar to Android. I've tried GNOME on a touch screen, and while the icons are large, everything else about it sucks. It's only marginally better than Windows 11. W10 used to have a touch screen mode.
@@KingKrouch Didn't know about the mobile version of KDE being a thing I might end up checking it out the next time I rebuild my OS on that laptop. Still the main reason I do use Gnome isn't really icon sizes, but rather the in my experience better on screen keyboard, touch gestures and some other minor gripes. I will agree that overall Gnome the inferior desktop tho.
@@Cavus_Rex yeah it's plasma-mobile, at least on Fedora, they even have a separate distro version download for plasma-mobile. IIRC, it's a similar package name on Ubuntu as well.
What are these devices called again? I currently use a HP Elite X2 G4 but I'm looking to upgrade to a more powerful device, with better graphics. The Minisforum V3 is interesting, but pricy.

Minisforum Tablet V3 is a good alternative for fans of 2-in-1 devices, especially if someone likes to play games. But for me the only thing that bothers me is Windows 11. However, it is easy to solve by installing Bazzite Os. It may not be perfect, and there will probably be a few problems. However, for people who prefer Linux, it is a good alternative as a system for everyday use. Personally, I prefer laptops, and I would prefer an 11 or 12.5-inch laptop with similar specifications, and with : A large battery, the possibility of replacing the M2 SSD Disk with a larger one, and a memory card slot. As for the Bazzite Os, it's great because most things are easily accessible. Thanks to the configurator you can install basic things quickly, and easily especially for people who have become lazy lol XD.
most of laptops or tablets have special features those might not work with Linux. here are some examples: - finger print sensors - function keys bar with special buttons - Broadcom wifi in most laptops - nVidia graphics - trackpads Ubuntu Linux or DEEPIN OS are two most stable distros those work with minimal errors. test your machine with live Linux USB before you install it. Lenovo, HP and Dell machines are mostly better for Linux.
I am curious about this type of devices, but I still struggle to find a good use case for me. I do my work-related stuff 100% on a m1 macbook pro, running linux arm vms (I develop apps for both systems). Trackpad is very good, as well as battery life, power and portability. I guess on tablet/chromeOS device you could run vscode (also via web if you dont have a dedicated app) and possibly build stuff locally for linux arm? If you cant, you can always connect to another machine via ssh (but you cannot run GUI apps like that). For me this would mean that I probably need to use vnc-like software, which makes the whole setup very dependant on the network speed, hence why I just usually carry my laptop 😅
Yeah. And less glitchy color management on wayland. Default one is trash 🗑️🗑️🗑️. And also, proper fractional scaling. Because the current one causes blurry icons. Very annoying.
You are alive?! I thought something happened to you. You are finally back. Please fix these issues in kde plasma. Blurry icons and interface on kde plasma with fractional scaling. Glitchy color management in wayland on plasma. Also, custom gestures.

Sorry to advice this to a KDE dev but, GNOME sounds better on touch computers. 😅
I run KDE on my main desktop, but for my 2in1 laptop I default to Gnome. That environment to me feels almost optimized for touch out of the box.
