  • The Toronto Raptors are trying to trade up in the 2024 draft. Reports are, they're looking to get back into the lottery. This is the same team that wanted to trade up for Giannis and Shai Gilgeous Alexander. So who are they looking at this time?
Let's discuss the report, 4-5 trades which might work, and most importantly, which player they're actually targeting.

Darko is and will be fantastic. He's already a success in my opinion. I was fine with Dragic until he posted the laughing emojis when his 'friend' Scottie and the Raptors got eliminated from the playoffs. He chose his personal pettiness against fans over supporting someone who was supposedly his friend.

You should try uploading the audio of these to Spotify and Apple Podcasts, I know it would make it easier for me to listen while I’m going for a walk or doing chores

Raptors were 6th in team assists this season up from 23rd last season. Huge improvement

rob ur right about darko. he was put through the ringer to get this raptors job. hes a good coach. ppl underestimate him because they only see a nice guy. hes nice but tough. In the end raptors will be a lot better once he grows this team

Appreciate the Jerry West moment. He was a great player when I was discovering hoops.
My shopping list; Topic, Ware, Missi. All have some major red flags but they seem to have real upside. The Raptors need an infusion of talent so go for the upside. If it doesn't work out you haven't really lost much because all you've lost is the chance to draft "just a guy"

If we trade up for a guy like Matas Buzelis, he would solve a lot of our issues and would probably be my first choice for players to move up for. A more realistic situation would be a deal with Memphis, and a guy like Ron Holland would be fantastic. I know shooting is an issue with him, but if this were any franchise other than the Raptors, I would consider it a major problem. However, we have an impressive and consistent track record of developing a player's shooting ability. But my favorite pick for the Raptors, if we stay at 19, would be Tyler Smith. I'm super high on him and the Ignite guys.

If we deal with okc, the cost would be a future 1rd pick most likely, pick swap can be added. I think if we try to upgrade our 19th to lottery, it would be with Kings i guess. Kings worked with Bub and Kyshwan George whos around 20th.

If we move up in this draft, I really think it should be for Cody Williams. I'm telling you, the guy is OG 2.0 after he puts on some muscle and develops in the NBA

There’s a few “Masai guys” in the top 19.
Salaune , cody Williams , Messi , zackerie r, Ron holland. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Ron holland is the person the raptors are targeting. A lot of people are not talking about holland. He could slide to 10 -12 possibly. I really like Ryan Dunn and Keyshawn George at 31. Or pace dadiet

Honestly it shouldn’t matter if fans like or don’t like the coach at end of day all that matters is what his top players and coworkers within the organization think. If the weren’t happy with his work thus far I doubt he’d be back next year.

It would be great if we can get one of SA’s picks. Otherwise I don’t see them passing up on any of the players that we would love to get. That being sad I’m confident whoever we’re looking to move up for is on their draft board as well… 😕

If a person doesn’t trust darko , I simply don’t trust their opinion or their ability to understand what he needs (or needed to) accomplish.
By no means is he perfect, and he had his fair share of questionable decisions but I’m pretty sure the ones who don’t trust him are putting too much stock in win/loss record and playing time. It’s the ones who never understood why Boucher wasn’t in the rotation. I personally believe those people’s opinions hold little to no merit.
Like you said, the first order or business was repairing the culture. He accomplished that and passed with with flying colours. Even when the team was at its worst, the finger pointing, the pressers that were full of pessimism, and terrible body language was almost non existent.
The players we needed to see growth from all grew. Some I’m sure we wish took a bigger leap, but there wasn’t much regression. Scottie improved after a year with slight regression, RJ arguably had the largest leap in his youth career. Gradey had a slow start but by the end of the year showed signs of what he can be. IQ I expected a bit more from but going to a new team/system as a PG mid season is significantly tougher than any other position. Our bench play improved. Gary had a tough season but even he kept his head in the game and didn’t appear to check out.
We saw two players come from a playoff team to our shit show and at no point did they appear unhappy.
The only negative I saw was the blind loyalty to Dennis and in retrospect that was probably a good thing because it finally forced managements hand to commit to the rebuild we’ve been pushing for.
Anyone who doesn’t trust Darko after that season (in my opinion) is delusional about the level of talent he had at his disposal and what needed to be accomplished. If you thought darko was brought in to make that roster a title contender you might as well just hop off the bandwagon and we’ll pick you back up when this is fixed. Rob, I know you still have expectations to maybe be a fringe play-in team next season, but I’m expecting a similar season record wise; but with much more stability. I begged for a rebuild, and I’m mentally prepared for the growing pains. If we see more growth from the youth, a clear defensive system and an improvement in on court chemistry next season is still a W in my eyes even if we have the same, or a worse record.

It’s not their fault I guess, people have been socially conditioned to believe that what they don’t really know for certain is Truth.

Crazy how it’s instant championship or it’s a failure. Honestly pretty stupid if you ask me lebron chased chips jumping from team to team looking for the easiest path to chips. never really took the route of building a team and going thru the ups and downs that come with it. Which is why i respect lebron as a talent but don’t respect him as a competitor. Raptors need to take their time go thru the ups and downs and grow together. I they try to fast track it and cheat the process will most like backfire and have start over again

💯 ‘I respect Bron as a talent but not as a competitor’ is a great way to word it. I couldn’t agree more, by no means is he not competitive, and he obviously wants to win, but for every bit of greatness he’s accomplished he’s completely disregarded, and frankly disrespected the process of team building and the how important that process is to long term stability. Im confident saying robbed himself of many championships by trying to take short cuts to get them.

    Goran Drajic was not
misquoted.. Remember when he Tripped OG and Spit on Demar? I am shocked he found it strange when Raptors fan booed him when he has been a dirty agitator every time he entered Toronto.. He sat out and left the team and worked out in Miami wearing a 10 day shirt exactly 10 days from being traded.. UGG. .Glad his is out of Basketball forever.
