Ashwin Srinivasan, Manas Kumar & Swapnil Bhise: Raag Gorakh Kalyan

Come Together is a First Edition Arts initiative with the view to exposing a younger generation of music lovers to Indian Classical music. So rather than expect them to come to where this music normally lives, we decided to take the music to the places where this new audience typically hangs out. Café Zoe in Parel is one such place that suited our idea perfectly, the co-owners were enthusiastic and coupled with the fabulous F&B to be found there, we were sold. This would be an experience like no other this city has seen.
The second concert in this series features the talented flautist Ashwin Srinivasan and violinist Manas Kumar, accompanied by Swapnil Bhise on tabla. Without diluting or compromising the purity of the genre, we found the audience to be very receptive and responding very favourably to the music and the artistes. Very nice idea! The youth needs a good reminder of how beautiful Indian Classical Music is. It is a shame to see how much American pop/rap music is effecting the world right now. I am from America, and my personal taste lies in Hindustani Sangeet. But to each their own.
