RSPB Cirl Bunting survey. North Cornwall. UK bird watching & photography.

A survey arranged by the RSPB to assess the population of the rare Cirl Bunting. At its northern most range & once widespread in the south of the country the population has declined significantly due to habitat loss & farming methods. In 1989 there was an estimated 118 pairs. Now due to the RSPB working closely with farmers the population is over 1000 pairs. Although still vulnerable the future is looking brighter for the Cirl Bunting in the UK.

Looked like a good day, with an assortment of species, if you had taken the same route today you would have probably seen the Cirl Bunting, that's birding, nice one 👍 DB

Nice video Trev, but I am 99,99% sure cirl buntings were all around you for the first 2'40'' of video. While you were speaking, I could distinctly hear them chirping in the background with their typical drumming singing.
