This bold cinematic experience takes viewers on a magical adventure across the greatest, yet least known, parts of our planet - our oceans. Since Blue Planet aired in 2001, our understanding of life beneath the waves has completely changed. Travelling from the icy polar seas to the vibrant blues of the coral atolls, this series shares these astonishing new discoveries. Meet the strange octopuses lurking in the depths of the Antarctic Ocean. Watch giant trevally fish leap to catch birds in mid-air. And ride on the back of a hammerhead shark as it attacks. Inspiring awe and wonder, Blue Planet II reveals surprising new places, charismatic new characters and extraordinary new behaviours.

The cinematography and music to the story narration of Attenborough's voice, made this six and half minute clip into a nail biting epic short film.
Witnessed this in real life once. was much more epic. Its somewhere in the Maldives.
Mom: Well what did you learn today?
Me: Fish eat birds
But did u know that birds eat fish and 7 8 9

@@mathsdebater231 okay, now please cancel your utube account .....
@@mathsdebater231 Yes. They do. My bird loves eating fish and cracking open crab legs. 🐦😋😁
That island’s got to be COVERED in bird dookie lol!
BBC Earth always knows how to make everything a cinematic masterpiece.
Truly, although they have yet to top Planet Earth. It's less polluted by the politics of global warming than the more recent ones. And I can't stand the Darwinism ideology they insert in commentary.
@@JP-uk9uc polluted by global warming? How are you going to make a video on nature without mentioning global warming, it's impacting everything to do with nature and the world.
@@JP-uk9uc You just like the pretty pictures and ignore the reality ?
I remember years ago Discovery channel had some miniseries about an alien planet Darwin 4 or something and i thought it was real for years.
@@tauruscommunist9532 you are ignorant. There is no global warming. Have you have checked the numbers by yourself? Or just repeating like the girls on andrew tate gander toilets
Love that one parent frantically trying to get its chick out of the water. Barely made it too
nice spoiler, could have just left a like

5:25 This shot deserves an Oscar...
Fishy Bobby: Yep I’m flying through the air. This is not good.
This was extremely exceptional footage
Blue planet is such a gorgeous and compelling show
And the stupid creatures called humans are destroying it..
@@TangleHamain now the only way to save the planet is of human intervention
Planet Earth is better in my opinion, + the diaries at the end of every episode is a fantastic touch.
That one shot at 1:58 of the single feathers floating in the infinite, deep blue, made me gasp. Tells stories about the horrors underneath the surface. Outstanding cinematography
bro
Why are people so afraid of the ocean?
Man, the drama at the end was sooo Cooool...! Mama bird trying to warn the child, the child tries to fly off away from the water...the "villain" Fish closes in...is it gonna get the young bird...? is it...?! Booom! it's a miss...! That's one lucky son of a bird! :-P
And, how high the fish got outta the water. 🐟 🐠 🎏 🎣 🐡
Stop anthropomorphising the birds. They can’t do any of that.
@@kiuk_kiks he isn't anthropomorphizing. He is just pointing out just how dramatic and movie like the scene was. The drama the suspence......
@@starsailor1778 Exactly! 👍🏻
Guess it wasn't his "Tern". Thank you, I'll be here all week.....
You can't tell me you wasn't scared for that last bird his mom even warn him.
No. Need to thin the herd.
I shook my head in relief at the same time as the lucky chick.
I was like oh noo

Out of all the safe places to learn how to fly, lets learn over the bird eating fish!!
they seem to be less "training grounds" and more "proving grounds"
*bird eating fish
@@militar3rd eh? That’s what it says though ☺️
That's what God decided.
Well, it certainly separates the "men from the boys" quickly! But just like today's teens, they just don't want to get flying!

5:23 bird's heartrate just went supersonic. "Something just touched my leg!"
The cinematography is simply fantastic. The storytelling ability, wonderful!
so true, however thoughts and images of those large fish on a grill kept popping out in my mind
@SpaceAce100lol...fish...the the birds would also be fine in a Egyptian cream rice casserole
David Attenborough an absoloute legend
The fish are hired actors
Absolutely.
Too bad they use this talent to misinform the public for important topics in our lives.
Wait a second... those birds drink salt water?
I know I’m late but yes they do! Cats can also drink saltwater.
No it’s sugar water
Basically all marine animals do
Or do you think albatrosses fly to a river every time they get thirsty?
@@ZombieChicken1310 Nah, I thought, they go to the next beach bar and buy some bottled water. 😆
Goosebumping even watching it, so just imagine how amazing was to witness it with your own eyes... nature and this planet is simply incredible jewel we should value above anything and always protect.
Calm tf down dude
@@SunnyvaleTrailerParkSupervisor Calmer than you are :)
Nobody tells a story of nature like David Attenborough 🌲🌊🔥💮
I can only imagine how long some of the team members spent trying to get these shots. If you didn’t know, it can take months to film these just for that one awesome moment
Took them 5 minutes. Just throw in food to lure the fish and birds and film.
In this case finding the action was easy: the problem was actually getting the attacks on film since the whole thing happens in seconds.
@@kontoname Because using bait in high end cinematography is definitely plausible and used
This was wonderful to watch on so many levels! Top tier: editing, music scoring, cinematography, storytelling, sound designing -- just perfect on so many levels.
That little head and body shake as the juvenile escaped the trevallys mouth was perfect!
It was saying “phew!”
5:37 the fish is me when the final french fry slips out of my hand
Wow, that was intense! I've seen a huge Pike catch a duckling, not a small one, an almost fully grown one.
same! I find actually pike substantially fascinating.
I've seen videos of catfish hunting pigeons.
That's cute. Here in Australia we have a fish called Murray Cod. They eat baby emus, kangaroos, possums & cormorants.
Blue planet and planet earth r the best nature documentaries.
That bird at the end was like thank you for giving me that lift mate I’m out of here
Imagine fishing with a kite that looks like a bird.
I think you are on to something here...
Hi
Or set up a floating bird decoy attatched to a line.
i was doing just that!!!!
not uncommon.
there are birdlike swimmingbaits for fishing at pikes for example
First off: these shots are SICK
Secondly: these fish must have evolved from the fish that fight Manny in IceAge 2! 👀
High quality video, thanks
Man those fishes mouths are like an oversized vacuum
I don't recall seeing terns in the bait shop.
When you’re fishing for giant trevally anything under two feet that moves is bait
Can you see the artificial lure? It’ll be like duck decoy
i don't think people understand how amazing and beautiful this is
Cinematography had me terrified of a fish.
i want to fight those fish.
Great white shark is a fish
@@killergoldfish117 i fought 3 lions and won. A great white is done if it sees me. I will crunch it! I spent all of last summer defending my grandfathers farm from wolverines.

5:21 The filmmaking on display in these shows is always on another level.
@3:02: There is a fish here that amazingly has a brain calculating the air speed altitude and the trajectory of a bird. 🦅 🦅 🦅 👍👍👍
Well that ending was intense!
That hit at 3:24 is just epic! This fish has been on my bucket list of fish to catch (and release) for years, and before I die I will have chucked big tuna poppers at them off of the coast of Madagascar! Great cinematography from this series as usual, and David Attenborough's narration is flawless.
Big fish loves the small Birds.
Evolution.
By far the biggest drive for survival.
The cinematography is a masterpiece. Salute to those who were realted with it.
The commentary made it so intense and the cinematography was top notch.
"If they have to survive, They must have learn quickly."
David Although’s voice is epic !!
Exceptional footage ! minutes 5:25 was just simply awesome. Those GTs are wicked!
Thank you Sir Attenborough. You're just the best.
Holy moly what an awesome short documentary. The camera shots are next level and the fishes are fascinating and really show they're not messing around.
*fish
This is amazing. It's like a great white breaching when they hunt seals.
That's exactly what I thought when I first saw the introduction... that must be a really big bird!!! Maybe an albatross.
*Awesome Thanks !!!* 💖🔥🤠👍
I don’t know who this guys voice belongs to, but is soo relaxing and makes you picture it as if you were there. His voice for this channel is FANTASTIC
David Attenborough!
How the hell was this even captured!! Incredible 😍
DA deserves 1000x more praise than he already gets for educating us all on the miracle of evolution
WoW! So Amazing! Trevally Uses Aqua Jet And It's Super Effective!
Jesus! Evolution is absolutely amazing!! Fish that developed the abilities to see and track a flying animal. Totally NOT within its "normal parameters" of hunting. Just amazing.
Not me screaming "get out of the water!!!" towards the end. 😭😭😭
the title should be “fish eats birds”
"if they are to survive, they must learn quickly."
*fledgling staring at it's parents, "so you want me to dive into the same water i just seen steve get eaten in???"*
Such carefully planned videos from BBC Earth! Words are insufficient for me to describe the feelings that pass through me whenever I watch any video of this channel🙏. Thanks.
Fabulous and amazing photography.
This documentary deserves millions of viewers.
Absolutely incredible and fantastic and fabulous!!! With such beautiful photography and the narration is absolutely superb by David Attenborough! I didn’t know this at all about the turns! I have admired turns in the past down in Florida on the coast and didn’t know this at all! I had never heard of this fish either or seen it! Thank you very, very much!
1:43 That Fish got that Bish........ I mean Bird 😁👍
5:14 - 5:51 Absolutely breathtaking shot sequence.
BBC rules documentaries in all their forms. And I think I soilt myself at 1:30 when that birdie got grabbed. And 4:59, sheesh how many hints do you need, "Get outa da water"!
Magnificently beautiful as always along with the calming and deep narration.
Fish Vs Bird...with fish kicking ass, taking names, and eating lots of bird.
So good and perfectly edited, it feels unreal sometimes...
bird: why has the music stopped 👀
fish: burp
All the love from Zimbabwe. My best channel ever!
the irony: the birds eat the fish, but bigger fish eat the birds.
"Fish Vs Bird? I'd be curious to see how birds hunt for fish". Get to 1:30, "Holy Shit"
This deserves OSCAR
The voice of Sir Devid Attenborough ❤️❤️❤️

What a wonderful photography, and the voice of David sir....
That was impressive
Cheers 🥂 for that bird that got away! Thanks for this video. It was exciting to watch!

I wonder what a fish that eats birds would taste like. I guess sort of a fishy chickeny flavour 🍛
Tastes like chicken?
Surf, and turf?
Feathery as well. 😆
The slow mo effect was so classic
Wow!!! fish eating a bird😱😱
WOW things we never think would be likely, BUT NATURE is always changing, animals adapt to survive.
