Very good basic lesson. If people's do not have basket put a colander in saucepan and lay down muslin or cheesecloth and put rice in the cloth and cover. Very good video 5*
hi when I end up with left over stickyrice how do I store it and how do I reheat it ? and do I need the little rice container ?is it true it keeps rice from getting hard?
Is there a special type of rice or is it just a short grain rice that is soaked for a long time? I love the steamer! I wish I had space for that. And hiphopsocnroc, wouldn't it have actually been easier to have left the beginning of your comment out and just said thank you? Or did you get some sort of feeling of superiority by being rude? Thank you for the recipe! I look forward to your answer,
Yvette Duran Hi Yvette! :D This is a special type of Asian rice (AKA Oryza sativa). So you can't use regular Asian rice or regular short grain rice for this recipe; this method doesn't turn regular rice into sticky rice. Thank you so much for stopping by! Best wishes. :D
I live in NYC and have many Asian markets close by. One of them may stock this. Do I just ask for "sticky rice" or does it have a proper name I should ask for? Thank you very much for answering so quickly.
In California we call it "sticky rice" but some people call it "glutinous rice" too. I think "sticky rice" is the most common, so I'm guessing that they probably use "sticky rice" where you live too. In NYC, you'll likely find it in Chinese markets if there's no Thai markets nearby. It might be harder to find it in say Korean or Japanese markets. Once you're in the store (either Chinese or Thai) I suggest that you ask them for "Thai" sticky rice, so that they don't confuse it with Japanese sweet rice which is different and is used in sushi for example. Good luck Yvette! :D
heres a mire simpler way you have to have something metal or like strong with tiny holes in it that will be a bit larger than tge pot u will need a pot pretty large pour water in pot halfway let boil place the metal thing on top get some rice, about a 1/4 each time place in a small metal bowl carefully flip on top of the hole thing let cook 10 min then unflip then stir then flip it bac again on top then let cook for another 10 min then keep doin this
Hey I was wondering if you could please help me I have been trying to find sticky rice but seems like it's been the wrong one I just received a brand called green elephant product from Thailand sweet rice or glutenous rice is that the right one
LaTisha M Hi LaTisha (Thai) sticky rice is different from (Japanese) sweet rice. They taste different and have different texture. If you're following this recipe, I suggest that you should buy sticky rice imported from Thailand.
Thanks for doing this in a bilingual way. It was pretty cool!
Thank-you, for creating this video. My husband loves stickie rice and now I can surprise him with his favorite side dish.

so does the water touches the rice while cooking, or is it just steaming in the basket.
You won't want the water to touch the basket. Usually 2-3 inches of water at the bottom will be enough.
Thank you for your question Purple love🙏

This white boy LOVES sticky rice
Puck Kim
i li
Like your recipe. But I am afraid that you are using plastic bag for hot stuff . Toxic !
english is just enough...
