GAME CHANGER / 54 years old long-time rider of many different style motorcycles (42 to be exact) over the years. Currently riding a 2020 Indian Challenger Dark Horse, which i love and have a quick removable trunk. Ive been entertaining the idea of a Goldwing as a second bike, my ONLY apprehension is the trunk. I 100% want the Tour model for obvious reasons, but... dont want the trunk on there when im only going for local rides, even if im 2up, a passenger rear sissy would be fine. I much prefer the look of the bike "trunk-less" / So thanks to you... problem solved. Operation Goldwing shopping has now commenced!!!

Hate to be negative; however, I had a Trip Trunk by Brockway on my GL1000 and it had a removable Top Box that fit 2 hemets which could be popped off with two lockable latches. Mine came off in less than 15 seconds.
Camera work and commentary excellent making your disassembly very instructive. I do not need to be told the blindingly obvious so it was great to listen to someone focused on the job in hand rather than endless pointless dialogue! Keep up the good work...

And you were dead right about giving the side panel the great heave ho. Without your clear instruction I don't think I would have had the courage to pull THAT hard! Thanks a million...

I was reflecting how it can change look from a bad ass bagger to the most posh tourer if you could take the box off and vise versa, so I searched and found your video. Lol great work. The grab rails aren't bothered in this process. They stay as installed from Honda, or if you have Traxxion's upgraded grab rails, it's the same... no change.
I like the wing, but don't want to carry around the living room sofa and coffee table. Can all that stuff above the rear fender be removed permanently?
When will it be ready? Waiting... Is there anyway you could make the bracket so that you don't have to remove the 2 bolts that mounts to the frame? What happens to the trunk release cable? Not installed?
@@Traxxion the pull cable is the one that takes up alot of time...everytime you remove or install back the trunk, you will need to run the cable back into the right saddlebag..definitely not a 10 mins job..

Yes, but that will only work if you want to convert it one time and leave the trunk off forever. If you want to go back and forth easily, you will need the kit my company makes.
I was told the trunk costs around 1200, if would be cool if you made a video of you trying to put a 1500 or 1800 trunk on one of these. just to show the difference. thats if you have 1 laying around
@@philhanson2560 Yes, you just need to remove the two bars that are sticking out. They are stainless steel. They are only used when the trunk is installed.
2007 Gold Wing: Conversion of the Trunk to a Bagger Style: Hello, I love the look of the bagger, and have looked closely at the F6Bs... However, I have a friend who is looking to sell his '07 Gold Wing...cheaply. My dilemma is, does anyone know of how I convert this to a bagger. Personally, and it's just a personal opinion, I don't like the look of the trunk and pillion "arm chair." It's a lot of extra weight that I'd move around. I've heard of MBL Innovations for the older models, but they don't seem to be in business, and would love to find a firm that deals with this. It looks like Traxxion Dynamics has a great conversion kit, but for very recent models. Thank you for any help. If you have an older conversion kit with the hardware, let me know!
Hi Bill! We don't have a kit for the older bike, as we really only deviated into "Accessories" when the new bike came out. If you like the bagger look, the F6B never really caught on, and as a result, you can buy them cheap. I would just search for what you want and get that instead of trying to convert something.

Also, keep up the good work, and try to ignore those in the peanut gallery who can do nothing but spew out negative comments. @@TheDefender215 if you have no intention of ever mounting the passenger backrest or the small luggage rack, then no. If you do intend to add either of those accessories, you will need to purchase the Honda support bracket kit ($149). We use the main cross plate under it. Some people might want to put that there just to be 100% certain that the rear cover never gets a crack from someone leaning on it accidentally.
You meed to train your video person to aim the camera at what you are doing to the bike so that people can see what you are doing, rather than focusing on you. When you pull the trunk off, we have no idea what you are putting back on in it's place as the camera person is focusing on your head.
On the 12 mm bolts under the seat when putting them back in could u use a bolt with a R clip for easy removal and putting back ? Or would it be too loose and if u did not have a tow hitch installed.
@@Traxxion cheers for that max I have the bagger dct with a Givi plate and top box so I don’t have that problem mine is a quick removal with a key not as nice looking or as heavy as one with the trunk .
Anyone with a Harley with removable tour pak is LOL big time. My RG CVO is more complicated than most HDs, extra wiring cables to remove for autolock cable and lighting. No tools, 1 minute.
Is there a cable connecting the trunk lid open button to the harness which must be disconnected before lifting the trunk off the bike I can’t get to it and it’s preventing lift off
Yes, you have to open the right saddlebag, drop down the latching mechanism, and pull the cable out of the bag. We supply a rubber plug to block the hole. You can then just lay that cable under the seat in case you ever had to get into the trunk.
Thanks Max I’m trying to remove the trunk itself not the saddle bag and followed the video as close as I can the entire trunk is ready to lift but it looks like a cable running beyond the audio unit towards the back of the trunk, I’m so close but don’t know where to disconnect it
@@brianhudson7058 i understand what you want to do... and I just explained what to do. You have to get the cable (going to the rear latch) out of the right saddlebag. You don't have to remove the saddlebag, you have to pull down the latch from the inside top of the saddlebag.
@@Traxxion gotcha so that lengthy cover attached to the roof of the saddle bag must first be removed then the cable that opens the trunk can be removed when the trunk comes out
@@brianhudson7058 Yes, there are four screws that hold it up. It is a bit of a pain to get it back in place properly, so just take your time. The back goes in first then the front lifts up onto some tabs that hang down.
At minute 7:20 you lift the camera and then install the replacement of the top case, why you don't say how to remove the rack, I don't understand why you don't say how to do the most difficult part of the job, your video is very misleading, I don't know what purpose
There are other videos related to this: We have our kit installed on the bike. We have a proprietary subframe for the trunk now, or instructions on how to modify your stocker. We are showing a bike with our kit on it, NOT a stock bike. It's not misleading... you're just the only person who didn't understand that.

I had to remove aluminum mounting blocks to reinstall decorative cover. I did not see you do that. Did I miss something or mount something wrong?

Never mind. Now I see it. If I just click on the "Motorcycle Type" quick drop down it doesn't show. Have to search by "year/make/model" to see it.
Also, be sure to notice you will want to order the subframe as well, unless you want to go the DIY route and modify your own subframe.

I know the '18 Tour has a smaller trunk than the '21 and up, can a '21 trunk be bought and fit properly on the '18 with the same paint??
There's only a few colors that cross over. The Candy Ardent Red like the bike we have stays pretty common. The trunks are completely interchangeable.

Saw u in a video with mr hannigan showing off his trike. I thought it was very cool that u did that. Can this process work for the trike kit as well?
Almost all of the trikes have proprietary rear ends that mount the trunks in their own fashion... so not very likely.

No, they are bolting the subframe to the main frame.

Why would I remove the trunk? This is irrelevant and of no value.
Dumb question is that? You remove the trunk to get the bagger look but retain the extra features the full bike has like i believe reverse
