- These are just some quick key differences that are worth pointing out visually. Technical specs can be found online.
One point I forgot to mention in the video is that both optics work quite well with the illumination turned OFF. In fact, on a very bright day I would run either one with the black reticle. Развлечения
I love the newer Spitfire. Had one on a 10.5" AR and it was one tough scope! Too bad I dropped it overboard while deep-sea fishing.
It happens. 🤷♂️
Did you reach out to Vortex and let them know? I've heard stories of them offering replacements for similar occasions. 🤙
Great info, thanks for sharing!
I have 2 of the Gen 1 Spitfires. Love them
Aside from the mount I think I prefer it.
Love the older version. I use mine occluded about 80% of the time.
Anyone know which mounting footprint the gen 1x prism scope has? Not the AR... I keep reading it has the Aimpoint Micro footprint
How's the durability compared to the PA cyclops ?
The spitfire 5x was my first choice, returned it. It’s a nose to charging handle kind of optic. I did get the AMG UH1 though. I love vortex, but I couldn’t get over that. I’d mount up and sometimes I’d get picture sometimes I wouldn’t. Can’t have that.
is the new model different than the spitfire AR 1x?
Thanks for the review....wondering if the 3x is worth the upgrade or if the gen1 at discounted prices is the winner for now. Pretty cool mounting a dot to the top if you go with a 5x too.
I haven't tried the 3X or 5X, so can't help ya there.
@@SapperGentleman I received mine in from PSA pretty quick. Didn't get a chance to shoot yet but I love the quality and offering Green/Red in 1 pkg is awesome especially for the price. Is is normal for the target in the prism to be slightly smaller? I noticed this when holding both eyes open and it is a little distracting.
I bought 2 of these for my home defense set ups and they are the same, just slightly smaller target in the sight picture.
@@awesomedave8484 You can adjust the diopter (ring on the rear of the optic) until objects are closer to true 1×
@@SapperGentleman really appreciate the quick reply. If you couldn't tell I'm new to prisms lol but it did fix my astigmatism, no Dr needed. New sub too and 1st time during this administration I had a good return on investment lol. Thank you!
What do you think about these compared to the newer primary arms SLx micro prism?
Mostly the Gen2 Cyclops is just a lot smaller and lighter. It also has a BDC, but without magnification it's worthless. The reticle on the Spitfires wins (in my opinion) for speed/accuracy up close. The concentric circles are just dead nuts fast.
@@SapperGentleman Vortex needs to partner with Primary Arms and put out an ACSS Spitfire
@Sapper Gentleman which is more durable you think, the newer slx or this vortex
Things actually look a bit farther away than normal when I use my Spitfire and the center dot is super tiny. Going to add a 3x magnifier and hope that improves everything.
did it improve?
@@nicklong436 Found out they don't recommend a magnifier with a prism scope so I swapped over to a standard red dot with a flippable 3x magnifier. The Spitfire just gathering dust for now.
I shot a 2”-3” group at 100 yrds when I zeroed my spitfire at in indoor range using both 62gr M855 5.56 and 55gr softpoint .223 . The guy working there was even shocked at how accurate is was for not having any magnification. I just placed that small dot center and used the rings on the human sized silhouette target and made sure I had equal light/size on the space between the circles. I freaking love this 1X prism. The green works better than red with white light flooding from from my AR mounted surefire at night and the black etched reticle means bright sunlight is never an issue. Also the bottom of the ring is spot on for those 0-7yrd hold over zero head shots.
@@greatcornholio5541 I think as long as you have good eyes or good corrective lenses it’s probably excellent. As I am old with questionable eyesight at distance I needed some magnification.
What is the point of all the rings? It seems like enough to obscure what you're looking at.
They do somewhat.
The scope is designed for up close and personal stuff requiring fast target acquisition and a bigger reticle profile aids with that. But the rings also have precise MOA sizes to help with rangefinding so short-medium range engagement is easy to accomplish.
Where are these made, old vs new? What's the box say
Pretty sure they're both China.
I think I'm going with the old model for the reason i can change the mounting height
This guy reminds me of a slightly tweaked out Kevin bacon.
🤣
The newer one is better
